There was nothing blocking the guy's view, this is completely due to stupidity, and the lack of any brain cells on the part of the guy that almost died. Survival of the fittest, and he isn't that fit!
No, it’s pretty clear he was blocking his own view of the train with whatever he was carrying, you can see it was completely shading his view of right side

I was there I remember that! I remember I just turned and looked back to see him crossing and was about to yell and then you did, glad you seen that and was able to yell for him to stop
This is exactly how my dad’s teacher died. He was at a crossing and didn’t see the second train.
A woman who worked for the same company I did got killed just like this. She was in a hurry to get to her bus and when the northbound passed she immediately crossed. She was struck by the southbound. They were still cleaning up when I passed by on the train on my way home that afternoon.
This is why the electric signs having "Danger! Another Train Coming" is invented. To prevent situations like this. Good job for stopping the guy from crossing the tracks.
You could have had 400 signs at that crossing, flashing all sorts of things, and that DOPE wasn't going to see any of them. Survival of the fittest, and this yahoo isn't that fit!

Wow, that guy almost got plastered. He had to be mightily distracted to not notice a train coming at him. This also illustrates why you should never assume that a second or subsequent train won't appear in multiple-track crossings after the first one passes.

live in chesterton. 2nd video on youtube ive seen of this. town is full of oblivious people. should see all the people that stop on the tracks, dont know how to drive, and the kids riding their bike and skateboard are ridiculous. im sure its everywhere though
