CONRAIL C40-8W 8418, the last Dash *W in CR paint leads NS 33G(fmr CONRAIL EL-BNA) westbound at Chesterton, IN on the fmr CONRAIL Chicago Line. Unfortinately theres only about 70 left in blue paint on the NS and a dozen on the CSX. Although the Leslie RS3L was a bit under the weather, it still sounded great! Enjoy!!!!! :)
33G Elkhart, IN-Minneapolis, MN/BNSF
That is the RS3L you will get from a senior ranked locomotive.
AmCalJojo459 for sure
I kinda like it
I love that CONRAIL horn omg
Jaxon Train It is an RS3L with fouled bell #48.
TRAINS FOR YOU thx u for telling me!
Jaxon Train You're welcome.
O how I love the sound of a sick RS3L. Added to my play list "The Best Sounding Train Horns (In my Opinion)". Thanks for posting. God bless!
Conrail For life!!!
Awesome catch, glad it was leading 💯👍🏻
Great Catch. Just to put it out there, technically, right now there is one conrail dash 8 widecab on the NS roster. 8500 (ex-8305) has a crescent cab, but it is still in conrail paint. 8312 will also soon be a widecab. So right now, NS has a CR painted dash 8 widecab. But not really.
I wonder if the railstream camera was around at this time
It was around.
Love that horn
Yeah!! Can't beat a Leslie RS3L!
Epic catch of 8418! It I would have made a cool engine in its original CR paint, but a repaint was inevitable. I'm glad that NS saw fit to give these Dash 8s some more life.
Sounds like the #44 bell is fouling. D: Still a great catch though! They should put it on a train to Cincy via the New Castle District, or just sit it in Frankfort. I'd get a chance to get all the pictures I want then! :)
That RS3L acually sounds unique and nice in a way
Great horn and catch Doug! tell me when you come back to SKC
Horn still sounds majestic
yep , THAT horn is un-mistakable
Was 8436 rebuilt? looks brand new!
Jack Killeen The cab was, it was in a wreck, and during the repair process, its numberboards were moved.
Wow that's a amazing Locomotive and epic Horn
This is my most favorite train I love it's sick rs3l
Great catch! The C40-8Ws are so cool.
May I use this footage for documentary if I credit you?
U lucky son of a.... good job on the catch.
Awesome video!
Great catch and horn. :D NS has plenty Dash 8 models in service.
Not any more 😂😂😂
NS only has 81 Dash 8s left now they are slowly being retired
CSXRailfan3012 yea won’t be long till there all gone, but they’ve gotten pretty old and the new gevos are more reliable
Not anymore
@@vermilionrailfan5651 Yep they're all gone, along with the SD70M's
Strange sounding RS3L, great catch!
I saw em at Harrisonburg,Virginia. Parked with 2 other Locomotives
Magnificent!
Liked some of the old railroad companies like Penn Central New York Central Grand Truck DT&I C&O and a few others
It Ends in Fridley Outside of Minneapolis at Northtown Yard. Which I Live 10 mins away
Awesome video! Iv been there before.
out of curiousity how many Dash 8s wide cabs are still in service?
Rocky54167 All of the Dash 8s on NS are still in service currently.
If only we could say that about the Dash 8-40Cs...
Now they’re all being retired...
and now theyre all gone
last CR Dash 8 on NS property. Don't forget the handful of CSX Dash 8s left as well
Great...
@westernkyrail LOL very lucky!!! Thanks!!
2 rare d8's actually, 8436 was rebuilt with a cab kit.
Hey!, the horn sounds like the NS 6920!
Something about Conrails choice of engine. While CSX seems to roar, Conrail has a grumble sound. I grew up 200 feet from CSX and Conrail tracks 2 to 3 miles away. Even with CSX basically in my backyard, NOTHING beats that low grumbling sound of an old Conrail slow drag.
Wow that is some kinda horn.
I know that's a c40-8w leading but the second locomotive is that a c40-9w or a c44-9w?
A dash 8 rebuild I can tell due to ditch lights on a plow, it got into a crash and now it’s number boards is moved
@@csx6025gamer I'M TALKING ABOUT THE TRAILING UNIT. IS IT A C44-9W OR A C40-9W?
@@gastonforde2121 That’s exactly what @Acela Express 2009 was talking about. Also, that trailing engine was also a C40-8W.
@@gastonforde2121 neither, both units are C40-8W’s
They finally got him painted not too long ago...
Nice, though that horn needs some work.
@trainmasta227 Sweet!
Horn 🅱roke
Fouled RS3L on NS Ex-Conrail Dash 8-40CW #8418.
The RS3L sounds 100000% fouled
It's a dash 9 not a 8 lol
Conrail didnt have Dash 9s xd it also says below the side numbers what type of locomotive it is
No. Both units are C40-8W’s
I love that horn
