Based on CineD Lab Tests, the Lumix S5 has around 0,5 stop more DR than the BMPCC 4K. I own both the BMPCC 6K (which has a tiny bit more DR than the 4K) and the Lumix S5, and that extra 0,5 stop is noticeable (especially when you shoot in the woods, where you can see brighter spots where the sun shines through in the background).
Appreciate that. I personally haven't noticed a huge gap in dynamic range between them, but I am sure it depends on the environment that you are shooting in.
@@plankmedia No, it’s not a “huge" gap indeed, but it’s there and is still noticeable in some lighting scenarios.. which is always very welcome, especially in a small mirrorless camera like the S5 (giving it the edge). Another thing to point out is that the sensor in the S5 is actually far superior, not only in low light, but also in maintening color accuracy without shifting too much based on exposure. Same thing with the BMPCC 6K compared to the 4K. That’s where the 4K shows its limitations.
@Jerimiah Cook: Vlogumentaries set your camera to video mode... menu.... video settings, S5/Gain Operation/Angle/ISO... there it is....I took a photo but I cannot add it...actually it is shutter angle...... I had global shutter on the brain..

The Black Magic has highlighted recovery which adds another stop of DR.
12 bit if you use B-raw
"RAW" is kinda relative...
I think it would be fair to compare the BMPCC with the Sigma fp
I love my S5 but dayum, those Blackmagic colors are some of the best
Yeah, I love the BMPCC color science.
Sold my s5, main reasons: color science and af. Some grain in low light in some modes, probably user error. Rest is awesome.
The blackmagic doesn’t have a APSC crop? 😮 oups!
I guess I know why! Maybe because it’s already an APSC sensor
Oops you’re still wrong, the Pocket 4k camera has a MFT sensor.
@@jayclas4023which is better?
What about the new S5 Mark II ?
Very excited to get my hands the new lumix s5ii. Having reliable autofocus is a game changer for Panasonic.
It's great. The autofocus is fixed so it's a fantastic camera.
The S5 has a much longer battery life.
That is very true!
The S5 also has global shutter, and mechanical. Try that to get rid of the rolling shutter.

👀 doesn't feel like a fair fight to me
Lol.. Well, maybe more of a comparison than a fight.
@@plankmedia haha I'm just messing with you 😂 good video!
More test minus bla bla bla
