If you saw your bandmate/friend get crushed under a tour bus, that will stick in your brain forever.
And that is also why no one will ever top Cliff.... sentimentality.
Cliff was the most talented musician in their band and the mastermind behind their first albums thats why they are their best ones. He was revolutionary and amazing bassist at his time and by looking at him he was really genuine kind and good person. Find someone like him to play in your band its way better that finding golden treasure. No wonder James couldn't get over his loss 'cause he was a big impact for his band musically 'cause probably the next albums would be even better than the first ones and second he lost one great friend too.

i mean, thats how Rob GOT the job in the first place, wasnt it? out of all the other auditions they sat through that day, only Rob's made Lars and James turn to each other lile "hey, that sounds Familiar..." because only Rob played with his Fingers (everyone else was Picking)

Clif was awesome and it's fun to play his material. We go way back. I was Metallica ING in 81. He was a headbanging mfr. One cool dude 😎. But I wouldn't change the Metallica band today. I think the guys are on the same page with one another and is fixing to produce a new album that will sweep the nation. 🤘😎🤘

Im confused on the whole thing too...yes James said "That took some balls man", but I never seen Rob do anything besides just hit a couple notes on the breakdown of the end of a song. I feel like we are missing a good piece of video here.

It really is an interesting question. Some say they would have stayed more thrash but Cliff was fairly eclectic in his musical tastes. Hard to imagine Cliff doing the Load/Reload Alternica tho :)

@@Mellanofair Oh, I've been a Metallica fan since 1984 my friend, I had the opportunity of seeing these guys live more than once back on the 80's. I know what I'm talking about. Burton was a really good bass player, but, IMO I find Trujillo more tecnically gifted than Burton.

Onthe other hand, there are some skilled musicians like Dream Theater, but their music is so complex that not all the masses will follow them.
