Thanks Jerry, I'm a retired High Master NRA High Power shooter. I'm still an active AR15 shooter but now more toward the tactical side of things. I've recently obtained this compensator. I have to tell everyone, this is the best that comp that I have personally used. My follow up shots are amazingly fast and accurate. I've tried other comps and found that they lacked the proper performance I've been looking for. The Miculek Comp is without a shadow of a doubt, the best for the money. AR-15 shooters, if you don't own one or if you own another type, you are missing out on a must have upgrade to your weapon. Thank you. .... thanks for also using a jam nut and not a @#$! crush washer.
Agreed. My partner has severe arthritis & even a little recoil gets uncomfy for her so we tried a bunch of compensators. There are some that don't seem to work at all, or very little and a few that work as well, or close to as well but cost twice as much or more. This is, by far, the best value & you would be hard pressed to find something that works better at any cost. We have 3 now & will get another one for her new build.
Couple this with adjustable gas system & a Vltor A5 buffer system & there is little to no felt recoil.
I'm running the 5/8x24 compensator on a 7.62x39 SBR and it is amazing. I'm beyond impressed by the performance and they're priced extremely competitively.
Hey Jerry, I just installed one of your comps on my Stag Arms AR15. Test fired the rifle this weekend and was amazed at the difference. The AR didn't recoil much in the first place, but now it just goes BOOM and my reticle never jumps off target. Since I have a vertical front grip and shoot mostly from a bipod (no 3 gun yet), I clocked the comp at 12 instead of 1 and it works great for me. Thanks for producing such a great compensator at an affordable price, and keep these helpful videos coming!
When I here anything about no ammo I have flashbacks of “NO BRASS, NO AMMO, WEAPON ON SAFE DRILL SERGEANT” 🤣🤣🤣
You just gave me a stiffy
This is a very nice muzzle break. I was very surprised at how reasonably it's priced.
It never occurred to me before to angle a compensator... I will try this :)
Thanks for the installation video Mr. Miculek. Just bought your compensator today, hoping to get to try it out this Saturday after an IDPA match. Thanks for putting ouch such an affordable highly rated compensator as well.
I've had it and I loved it!
Getting another one for replacement rifle.
Superior on-target handling.
(Some "sideliners" will complain about the noise; oh well...).
Outstanding video friend. Great job. Thanks a lot. SC Navy vet
just got one for my rpr in 308 and it is really nice it really helps me a lot
Just bought one for a BRN-180. Cannot wait to shoot it
Finally, someone telling people to use moly grease versus red loctite on the threads. Christ
Excellent Jerry, thanks for great video
Install that shit STRAIGHT. There is no imaginary twist recoil. Climb out of the bullshit tree.
Well I just found out I put mine on upside down.
Dear Mr. Miculek... I recently purchased your compensator for a .223/5.565 rifle... I purchased it from a shooter at my local gun club... When I got home I went to RUclips, and your install video, to see how to install it... It did not take long for me to see I did not get the locking nut... I need to purchase one so I can complete my install... Can you please tell me where I can order just the nut... BTW, I am installing this on my newly purchased Thompson Compass... Thank you Bob Hudson, Life and Endowment member NRA...
Bought an installed this on my ar15......iv got 22 lr that shoot harder than my 5.56 using this brake....worth the money
how do i get ahold of this brake jerry everyone is soldout
Has this design been modified since this video? I got a DPMS Miceluk brake from Midway (reputable dealer, no?) and the distances between the openings are not wider or narrower on one side vs the other. Using a caliper, every distance is between 0.594-.596 in. Definitely no "top" or "bottom" based on baffle spacing. Thanks.
Does the .30/7.62 cal brake NOT have a "top" as does the 5.56?
I ended up tuning mine between 12-1 o'clock. The target never leaves my optic now, during my training drills. This brake is AMAZING!!!
Bought the JM Pro 930, now I have this on the way. Cant wait to get out to the next match. Thanks Jerry.
Excellent
Hi Mr.Jerry I bought the Miculek Compensator and changed the flash supressor and installed my new Compensator on my LR-308 without any problems at all thank you for the help.Roger
Really wish you would have shown the jam nut better. Now I gotta go research what a counter-bore is and what it looks like.
Never heard the term and from just looking at the word I'm thinking I should see something sticking out since it "counters" a bore, which is a hole... Really wish you would've shown the thing better
You probably need to go back and watch it again...smh!
Jerry have you made a video on the S&W Governor? I would like to get opinion on this revolver.
What’s the part number for the 5.56 compensator?
Great brake, great price. My partner has severe arthritis (fused wrist, elbow etc) and this brake combined with the Vltor A5 recoil system all but eliminates recoil in her AR. It's the difference between her enjoying an afternoon of shooting VS. firing a few rounds & being done for the day.
Yeah, but this guy is dangerous... You're only allowed to use a CRUSH WASHER, a jam-nut can blow up your ammo. I bet this guy never even held another man's rifle in his hands, before this MORON made this video. (kidding)trololol lolol.
wtf
I think Dixon's poking fun at some of the gun forum "experts" who decry jam nuts and make all sorts of moronic unsubstantiated claims about them distorting the muzzle, ect..
Hey Jerry I got an ar10 in 6.5 cm and the upper and lower has a small gape in it. I've contacted the manufacturer and they say it is ok to shoot. But here is the problem. The front fits perfectly but it kinda angled up as it goes towards the but. Should I take it to the manufacturer and make them give me a different upper?
Hello i have a question or two about compensators for rifles or guns in general. So i just bought my first comp for a rifle and when i put it on i notice that the treads on the barrel are visible threw the ports on the comp. So the compensator is not covering the treads after being fully installed on the barrel. My questions are A. is that normal B. will that mess the treads up after being fouled up with powder then taking the comp off or am i worrying for nothing? ... again my first time with a barrel with a threaded end
I also use JM compensator on few of my guns, not only AR's. I like the dimensions and simplicity of design, small but effective.
It's a verry good product but quiet hard to get in EU.
Need your help Jerry. Purchased one of your .30cal comps from Midway USA. When I received it,it was packaged in DPMS bag. No big deal I suppose. The issue is it was missing the jamnut(pkg. not compromised) Called Midway....they could'nt help(none in stock) and no individual jamnuts.Called DPMS could not help because it was not purchase through "them". I need a jamnut(Im itching to shot with the comp). Do you have jamnuts available?
How does this comp stack up against the Synergy BCF which is a brake, comp, and flash hider?
I just got my comp and installed it at 11 o'clock as I am a lefty. Now for the question. I have a RDS on the left side. How will the comp effect the recoil when using the side mounted RDS?
Does this one o'clock work for every compensator or just with this one?
Hey Jerry, I got my 223 comp today. Of course it was about 10° short of clocking at 1:00 (Murphy's law). After some range time and about 45 seconds with 320 grit on the jam nut and it snugs up right where it needs to be. Man what a difference it makes shooting.
Pulling my hair out trying to get it off. It’s really obnoxious to the shooters on either side of you.
If Jerry says it adds control, then it adds control! Enough said!
@Mojoman Generally they don't hide flash.
@Nick I have a DPMS and just broke 1k rounds with it. At least in my case I got a great rifle. Shoots about 1-1.5 moa with factory ammo (bout to start reloading that cal and I bet I get close to half moa). Only malfunctions I've ever had is because mine doesn't like steel ammo. Stock trigger is pretty nice after alot of dry firing and live fire, starts out a bit gritty but gets better. Sometimes they have lemons but I know alot of people who love their DPMS rifles.
@John Yes it is made by DPMS and designed by Miculek.
when he times it for 1:00 for a right handed shooter, is that from the shooter's perspective, or from the other way around?
it will be shooters prospective, the idea is to make the very top of the compensator help "drive downward" onto your support hand
Any reference to left / right on a firearm is always made from the shooters perspective with the firearm presented. Same is done with cars when working on an engine.. if someone says the "right side of the engine compartment" they are not (or should not be) referring to it from the mechanics perspective standing in front of the car, The right side of the engine is always from the drivers perspective (USA) and would be the passenger side of the car.
I have a FN FAL someone threaded to 1/2 x 28 to use some strange looking muzzle break that looks like a beer can on sideways. It works but it is too big and it is ugly.. I have AR-15 bird cage muzzle breaks i I need a muzzle break for 308 with 1/2 X 28 thread.
Just ordered one of the JM Compensator this morning, I figure if its good enough for you its good enough for me lol. Glad I watched this video, I would have forgotten to index the ports to aid in actual control which is why you use a compensator to begin with. Its not just something pretty to protect those threads.
Finally got some range time with mine today. WoW just WOW this thing works better than advertised. I indexed the port halfway between 12 and 1 and compared to bird cages this thing rocks. almost ZERO recoil.
Medium Man where did you purchase your compensator? just wondering i did not want to get a knock off..
Cheaper than Dirt I believe.
I built my first AR from bags of parts for my 50th birthday. I installed Jerry's compensator because it appears to be the best "bank for the buck" in an article posted on Thetruthaboutguns.com. I am REALLY pleased with the recoil reduction. My next AR (yes, I have the addiction now... there will be many more builds) is also going to have this compensator.
Best comp hands down. Flat flat shooting never lose the sight picture. No barrel whip even on a thin pencil barrel. Best 40 bucks I ever spent. Jerry's design is flawless. Loud and proud.
Get some👍
Just got mine through Midway on my Savage .308. Now have to take it off and make sure I turned the jam nut correctly. Does the .308 version need indexing or is straight up and down correct? Will be mostly prone.
Hi Mr Jerry I bought a Compensator just like in this video but mine is for my LR-308 and everything was as easy as the video when i changed it over. The recoil is about like a 243cal not bad at all now thank you for your help and good product.
finally someone makes a good quality item thats affordable and not filling their pockets with all the muzzle hype rip offs. This muzzle is going on my first AR-15 build. Although I wish it was a little more pretty but I think it will get the job done for what I can afford. Thanks Miculek. great vid.
Thanks for the video. I wish the brake had come with instructions so I would not have had to rely on this video. In any case, it is always a pleasure to see a video with Jerry Miculek, such an inspiration. The compensator is amazing. Felt recoil and muzzle rise feels very low. Loudness is big, but fun and awesome. My only complaint is that I had to file off a chunk of the washer to align it properly. In any case, given the price and performance, my efforts were well worth it. Useful with fast shooting since follow up shots are easier, as well as with long range shooting since you are able to follow through with your shots and see what you hit more easily through a scope. Thanks again.
Do you setup the brake the same way if your fitting it to a 30 cal precision rifle?
Yes, except it would be a 30 cal muzzle brake (5/8x24TPI). Good god....no one answered this 3 years ago...
Just finished my first ar build and was looking for a comp. Ordered Jerry's comp yesterday. Can't wait to get it installed and shoot.
I wonder if he would still clock it to 1oclock on a Bolt rifle?
Should I tighten it as hard as I can?
I love this brake.. I've drank the Cool Aid I'm a believer.
As long as you're still alive after drinking the Kool aid I believe it's a good thing
I'm a right hander so when you say at 1 O'clock. Must you turn it as you are facing the barrel or behind the barrel to set it at 1 o'clock.
Thanks for the tutorial, very helpful!
Is this the same comp that DPMS sells?
I purchased one and it really makes a difference. Reacquiring the target is so much simpler.
Good video. I might get me one of those. If I buy your comp, will it make me shoot like you, Jerry?
Where can I buy this?
True to form the instruction was clear and concise... Added bonus is the zoom in camera angle
I just got one for my AR and I love it. thanks Jerry.👍
I got it from Midway USA.
What happen if you use two crush washer??
Thank you Jerry for this video and all you do for this sport. Just bought this comp and installed it, really appreciate the knowledge you share!
I noticed that these comps are discontinued ?
Just got one of these for Christmas! Shot it all day long today and loved it! Great addition to my 5.56
Does a compensator also suppress the flash?
Mojoman57 no one replied in 5 years. If you didn’t already learn, the answer is no.
4:04 “you come around with your five-eighths of an open end wrench” 😂
Same I own too of these I can really tell even one shot at a time how it keeps the muzzle down great product
As always the devil is in the details, thanks
Why is the 7.62 compensator not narrow at the top like the 5.56?
It is the best compensator in the biz. I run one in 3-gun and it makes a huge difference!
10-4 Jerry, you are the man!!!💯☝️👍🤙🇨🇦
Video should started with removal of existing flash hider!
Would anti-seize compound work instead of the lube?
yes, but the correct type of anti-seize.........or small tube of high temp. motor grease from auto store. never thread lock a break onto a barrel.
@@MegaBait1616 Why shouldn't the brake not be thread locked onto the barrel? Serious question
@@salvathan , because you use a crush washer or a jamming locking nut to "time" the brake. #242 Lock-thight is Not needed. Need to be lubed not T.L. watch this video........
@@MegaBait1616 Thanks for the answer. I thought the locking nut could go loose because of the vibrations. Just asking because I once thread locked the thread protector nut on my Sig 516.
@@salvathan , no it won't. Been gunsmithing over 50 years no # 242 L.T. an old trick is to use clear nail polish on threads cause it holds well and can be removed with polish remover instead of heating up the threads.
This is a beast brake.. about the best you can get and its about 40 bucks.
Im an ambi-shooter so i always put mine on straight up and down
Always depend on you to get good information thanks
what do you do with the gap between the nut and the barrel?thanks
Sweet compensator, can't wait until mine arrives.
Adopt me
Best compensator on the market and at a price we can all afford.
what would happen if the "timing" were off ?
the fuck is that music?
Thanks, Jerry - very straight-forward.
just got mine and installed it! thanks for the video, it helped!
your video says counter bore towards brake but the instructions that came with says counter bore towards gun. witch is it??
he said counter bore towards the gun in the video. it's pretty obvious since it doesn't screw on all the way when it's backwards.
JERRY!!! You are right on1!!!!!!
how'd work on 300 win mag
Why not just use a crush washer?
Jerry, you look even better now.
Why would you need a compensator for a rifle? Doesn't the long rifle barrel mitigate the muzzle flip?
All rifle barrels whip like a snake when fired (harmonics), which causes the muzzle to rise and then come back down...recoil is involved in this also. A muzzle brake (compensator), if configured properly, helps greatly to keep the muzzle down through the use of slots/ports for gas to escape in a particular direction. This allows the shooter to stay on target, especially for followup shots.
Jerry's a world champion competitor and hundredths of a second separate his score from the rest. Yeah, he's shooting a 5.56 rifle which has minimal recoil already. He even uses the lightest-weight bolt carrier and buffer (the moving parts of a semi-auto) to eliminate recoil and muzzle flip. The muzzle brake is the last step, and compared to the battle rifles of old, it's splitting hairs as far as the difference. But the muzzle brake irons out the last bit of perceived recoil there is.
Thanks Uncle Mic
Jerry is a Gun God.
Hey Cuz,
Will the .30 caliber brake work for AR's in 7.62x39mm (.310-.311)?
Great video!!!!!!
H Braud
I'm sorry, but going by thread width doesn't make sense. It has to be the diameter of the brake bore that should determine what calibers can be used. As far as researching the topic, it's exactly what I'm doing, going straight to the source since Jerry designed this muzzle brake/compensator!
Thanks for your input, though.
Actually, going by thread size is the ONLY way to do it. You can't just go by bore size. The 300BLK is the same bore size as an AK-47 but you can't take a muzzle device off of 1 & put it on the other since they use 2 completely different threads. Hell, the AK threads are even left handed. Therefore you must go by thread size. You will rarely come across .30 cal AR's that have a thread size other than 5/8x24. Though I don't know the make or model of your gun, it's pretty safe to say that you have a 5/8x24 thread. However, the only ways to absolutely know for sure are by putting a thread gauge on it, getting a 5/8x24 muzzle device or nut to try installing it, or by contacting the manufacturer to ask them what it is. If your gun came with a device installed you can remove it & take that existing device to a hardware store to run a thread gauge into it. Hope this helps ya. Oh, and for future reference, I would suggest that if you are asking someone for help, especially because you respect the advice they may give you, you should be a bit more respectful towards them instead of coming at them with "cuz". You may have better results that way.
Firstly, the 300 Blackout is not the same caliber as an AK47...two entirely different projectile sizes...300 is .308...AK47 is .310-.311, depending on what country made the ammo/firearm..(not considering the Ruger Mini-30 which is .308 )
Secondly, Cuz (Cousin), is an affectionate term between Cajuns (Louisiana French)...we all consider ourselves cousins, in a sense. Obviously you were not aware of that so we can let that slide.
Now...my original question was whether the bore size of Jerry's .30 caliber comp was large enough to allow a .310 bullet to pass through safely. Thread size is not an issue here. I do know the AR15 in 5.56mm or .223 Rem, normally uses a 1/2 by 28 thread and the AR15 in 7.62x39mm uses 5/8x32. Unless you truly know the answer to my question, which I asked Jerry Miculek, please refrain from replying and drop the thread requirements..it is NOT an issue here!!!!!!
Thread requirements? Really? That's how you took that? I was trying to be of help but apparently my good hearted post was somehow insulting to you. Now since you think you know everything how would you not know that any & all muzzle devices have their bore sizes, for lack of a better term, plus sized by at least 20 thousandths at minimum? Now, you are right when saying 308 is slightly smaller than 310, that's simple math. However, unless you get into the very high dollar custom long range game you will never, I repeat NEVER have any sort of a muzzle brake be at such high tolerances that a 3 thou diameter change would cause a projectile to strike said brake. But hey, let's wait to see if he even replies to you. And if he does, make sure to set up an appointment to suck his dick while you're at it! Oh, and I never said cuz was disrespectful, but merely to be more respectful. If you didn't know, there is a difference there. And lastly, seeing as you have sand in your vagina & choose to act like a douchebag to someone that is merely trying to help tells me that any further comment or reply will be the same. Therefore I won't read or reply to anything further as fighting with a douche on the internet is not something I waste any time on! Hope you have a wonderful day.
musix
I recognize this is purely cosmetic, but do you ever plan on releasing this compensator in stainless?
Good information.
Gettin' it.
Where can I buy one of these ?
If you haven't found one yet... midway usa has them.
in on
