If you love Coldplay, check out the song that Jin did with Coldplay. It’s called the Astronaut, and something that they produced before Jin went into the military.

Chris Martin added a dance break just for BTS to do their thing. I love their collaboration. Chris was so open and excited about working with BTS. Definitely check out the behind the scenes of this vid. Before they collaborated on this Martin was hesitant to work with them. He judged them (because we are all human), before realizing just because they are different it wasn't something to be afraid of. He says working with BTS is one of the best and most fulfilling things he's done. They have a great relationship and are friends. Jin also did a song called The Astronaut with Coldplay and Martin even carries around Wootteo patches and doll in his concerts which is the alien character from The Astronaut.

BTS and Coldplay refers to each other as brothers. They have a bear friendship! Chris gifted Jin his guitar! Now Jin has a „hyung“ too. (Used between men for older ones that you’re close with in Korea) The part when Yoongi raps the overlaid singing rap is also him.
The thing I love the most about this song is that it's not overpoweringly a Coldplay song or a BTS song, but as near a perfect fusion of the two groups' styles as you can get. I’ve loved Coldplay’s music pretty much since the start and this cover of “Fix you” is actually what first introduced me to BTS. Jin’s high voice in it really triggered an emotional response in me that I was not anticipating, it caught me completely off guard. After that, I fell down the rabbit hole faster than JK could say ”party party yeah”… I mean, I just wanted to know their names. 😂💜
Chris was very very impressed how quickly RM rewrote a verse in Korean. Not an exact translation. Instead something that would sound beautiful and meaningful in korean, when Chris said he wanted that particular verse to be korean.

This was a Grammy nominated song and the album Music of the Spheres was also nominated for a Grammy which Coldplay the rap line were put on the album as writers on the album so that brought BTS up to 5x Grammy Nominated artists in 2023.
I’ve listened to this song so many times but appreciate the new things you were able to point out that I’d never noticed. Big high point of the BTS concert I went to in LA was when Chris Martin came out as a surprise to do this song with them - EPIC. Great follow up to this would be Jin’s Astronaut.
One of the members, Jin, sang his song during the Coldplay's concert tour last year. The song was gifted to Jin by Coldplay and he wrote the Korean lyrics while the English ones were from the band. I think you'll enjoy that. The song is called The Astronaut.
OK so we really need to see you react to the 'behind' making of this song with Chris and BTS 🥰 Appreciate your thoughts and perspectives. They had so much fun making this, and performing at the AMA's together as the first live performance at an award show post pandemic which made it even more special. Thanks for reacting!!!
they didn't film the MV together but Chris went all the way to South Korea to record the song! they were very surprised cause it's not usual a collab was done this way, they have a huge amount of respect and love for Chris and Coldplay
6:54 I'm pretty sure that yoongi (Suga)is doing the sing rapping and main rapping just layered together you should check out the documentary they made with coldplay
exactly! Yoongi does this in almost every song they've done, he raps his verses but layers it with a his own singing verse as well which makes the track even more eargasmic 💜
I saw them perform My Universe with Chris on the last day of their Permission to Dance concert in LA. Totally a surreal moment and I'm still salty my fan cams didn't make it back home in working condition.
Chris flew to South Korea during the pandemic and the song was revised a bit and recorded in BTS' studios. The video, however, couldn't be filmed together. Chris had their part filmed live somewhere in Spain, but BTS was put in by Green Screen. There is a Behind the Scenes on BangtanTV channel where they show them recording the song with Chris. There is also a Making of/Bangtan Bomb video from when BTS was doing the Green Screen. Both are worth watching, however, I think the one where they were recording the song is amazing!
Suga is doubling his own rap. That's his voice in the upper register. He actually does that a lot on his own tracks, too -- I think JK has been a big influence on him (JK doubles J-Hope a lot on his raps). 😀
when Suga is rapping here, the high singing voice in the background is actually his own :p yes, he can sing a bit too, which he showed during his last solo tour promoting his D-Day album :D the MV is really cool, they had so much fun working together on the song and shooting the MV
7:23 im glad you noticed! it's actually suga doing the higher part as well! it's what makes this part so cool to me, probably the highlight of the song in my opinion.
Chris Martin and all the Coldplay members are real ones. They respect and love the guys and will defend and praise them on any platform. It’s such a great relationship to see 💜💜
The bands connecting by holograms was similar to business people connecting by video calls during COVID lockdowns. Also, BTS, Coldplay, and the fictional band all filmed separately, and were brought together via technology, just as the bands in the story were. The ship of the Silencers was based on the actual 3-D shape of the virus. When playing a video game, you charge up a special weapon before unleashing it. If you don't pause to charge it up, it fizzles. The DJ needed a moment to charge up her ship's engines for the jump to hyperspace. She smashed the button, the engines started revving, all the bands blared their music, and The Silencers, who were used to silence, were paralysed. The distraction gave the DJ enough time to charge up the engines. She had helped connect the bands, and now they were helping her. She gave one last knowing look at us before her ship jumped to light speed and escaped.
At that time South Korea still had a ban on the Country because of Covid, but the President let Chris come in for a week to do this collaboration. Chris got the part done with mixing the two groups in the video. He also helped BTS when Suga had surgery and was out. They did an awards show or MV i forget right now, but they put Suga in with them singing, it was wild!! Chris also helped Jin write his song Astronaut, that Jin wanted to give to Army before he went into the military. He's been a Great fan and friend of the guys 😊 Thanks.❤💜
Suga's holographic appearance during their Life Goes On performance at MAMA 2020 actually predated the release of My Universe by almost a year. It wasn't something that Chris Martin did. It was an incredibly cool performance, though.
@@rgober60 - Don't you remember how it was at the height of Covid? When you arrive at a new place (in this case Chris Martin in South Korea), you HAVE to go into quarantine for 1-2 weeks, which was probably done in a hotel room. When you show no symptoms, only then you are released from quarantine (and Chris and his team could meet and record with BTS). From the BTS book, page 472, RM said, "You had to go through quarantine when you entered Korea back then, and that would've been a significant time commitment for him [Chris Martin], but he really came. And when we finally got to meet after all that, he was much more down to Earth that we'd expected."
@shiroikami2690 I know it predated it. They had been talking since 2019 when Chris said he was given the inspiration for the song. It was said that when talking to RM about the show they were going to do and learning that Suga couldn't be there that Chris made the suggestion to use hologram for him. At least that what was told in the music news that I had watched at the time. But it could be wrong. Thank you ♥️💜
It is so true that the green screen was done for the MV but Chris Martin spent a week in quarentine so that he could go live to record the song with BTS and then a week in quarentine to go back home. Chris' dedication to this song and BTS in general is inspiring as he also help Jin say goodbye to the fans before he went into the military along with helping Suga show up in hologram for an award show.
This is the second comment I've seen saying this. Where are you guys getting this misinfo? Suga being a hologram in the award show in 2020 had nothing to do with Chris Martin. That award show happened before they even covered Fix You. The My Universe collab was almost a year later. Genuinely curious where yall are hearing this? But there is a Bangtan Bomb about how Suga showed up as a Hologram on BangtanTV. I'd recommend you watch that.
You need to check out the making of this song. Chris flew to Korea during the pandemic to work alongside the boys and the mutual respect the two bands have for each other is so heartwarming to witness. Another absolute must watch is ‘The Astronaut’ by Jin MV and Live. It was the last project Jin did before enlisting in military and the entire song is a beautiful love letter to ARMY. Fun Fact: Being a Coldplay song, it was initially entirely in English. Jin felt it needed Korean lyrics to make it his own and express his own feelings towards ARMY. So he wrote the first verse in Korean and recorded the song with the rest being in english. Chris loved Jin’s Korean lyrics so much that he insisted that Jin write another verse in Korean. So the night before he shot the MV, Jin wrote another verse in Korean, recorded it and sent it to Chris.
7:25 It's Yoongi in the back, just up the octave. You can see him record both in the making of film. it's an awesome documentary, and I think you'd love it. it's not too long, but very interesting. 😁💜
just like everyone’s saying we recommend the documentary behind the recording of this amazing song, Jin’s Astronaut (co written by Coldplay) and their live performance in Argentina, BTS cover of Fix You in MTV unplugged
You must react to the coldplay and bts documentary on how they made the song and the presentation of jin from bts at the coldplay concert in Argentina singing astronaut, which is his solo song 😊
As usual, I definitely agree with others that you should watch the mini documentary on the recording of this song. They also have a cool making of video as well! I enjoy your reactions and insights. Thanks for loving our 7 men and appreciating their amazing talents!!
To the armys in the comment section: you really need to check out Boracitys video about RUclips army. Because you guys are currently supporting someone who goes against every message that BTS has made in the past.
You definitely want to check out the behind the scenes. It does a great job of showing the process behind making the song and the beginning of what became a lovely friendship between Coldplay and BTS. If you check out The Astronaut by Jin and Coldplay, it’s a must that you watch the MV and the live performance in Argentina. Coldplay gave the spotlight to Jin so he could perform one last time before enlisting in the Military. They were so lovely singing together. From interviews it’s very clear that the guys really like and respect each other. Watch both!
The cool part is the one sing-rapping over Yoongi's verse is Yoongi himself! I love it each time he does that! Also i highly recommend watching the documentary of the making behind this song its very short only 11 minutes and it shows the behind the scenes of how these both bands came together to make this song!
Great reaction. Im glad you love this collab. You better check out the behind the scenes video. It's so awesome how much difficulty and effort was put into this project. Keep the vids coming! They're getting more enjoyable. I can see your genuine admiration growing....Cheers!
that last part, when it creates a tension like.. what's gonna happen next and comes an instrumental part before it ends? Coldplay decided to add it since they have seen Bangtan dancing! they wanted to add a part Bangtan could dance to :< I love CP, I'm a CP ARMY ever since they collabed and if they ever needed anything I'd be right there for them cause they're really sweet genuine kind human beings besides being tremendous musicians
Despite the covid restrictions they did actually meet up , and record this song , theres a making off and it became the begining of a beautiful friendship and as many have said watch the astronaut, if understand the song youll know why us army love it so much x thank you for your reaction x
Love these musical knowledge commentaries like yours. We don’t only enjoy and have fun together but people get educated. I learn new things. Thank you!
Couple things. You should check out the making of the recording of the track. Chris flew to S Korea during pandemic and went through all kinds of hoops to get there just to do it in person. They are very good friends. Also, those highs during Suga’s rap was also Suga singing. And as others have said, The astronaut is another one to check out. Not just the video but also the live performance with Chris’ speech about BTS in Argentina.
Suga, the member rapping with pink hair, was actually harmonizing with himself. He tends to do that in a few of his verses or even on his solo stuff. But yeah, that was him in the highs and the lows, I think it's pretty cool. FYI, RM does that with this verse in their song Mikrocosmos as well. It's like a yelling in the distance. It's a cool effect, in my opinion.
You should watch the actual making of the song documentary!! They flew to Korea and recorded with them!! It's great to see them interact with each other they have created a great relationship and bond
Check out the behind the scenes of how rhis song was written. Chris from Coldplay traveled to Korea and wrote the song and recorded it in person with BTS.
Its cool that you pointed out the bass/synth thing, since this supposed to be 3 groups, coldplay, bts, and the alien band, so what you said ties in perfectly. Coldplay does the real bass , the alien band (in my head anyway lol) is responsible for the synth & chris & bts sing . Chris martin flew to korea during this, even though they make it look like theyre all separate. Watch the mv & live of jins the astronaut. Jin joined coldplay for their concert in Argentina 💜
Some nice producer pickups. For a track I have heard countless times you pointed out a few production aspects I never heard. Thanks. Deepens my appreciation of the track.
There is a short documentary video on the making of this song. It was done during the pandemic, and Chris Martin went all the way to Korea, sat through the two week quarantine, all so he could make this song in person, rather than messaging files back and forth.
As i've said before this song is so beautiful that it makes me both smile and cry at the same time but now I've seen the MV I'm crying again it's so beautifully filmed and made I'm just in love with it and hearing those harmonies again especially Jimin with RM and Chris Martin with JK it's so beautiful. So one word to describe the entire song and MV is beautiful as it remind me just how much the lads miss us and how much we miss them
They did actually record this together in Korea. They performed it live at the 2021 AMA & then Chris surprised us by joining the guys on stage in LA for the finale of PTD in 2021 & I was lucky enough to be in attendance that night
You might also enjoy hearing the story of how they came together to produce this song. I haven’t seen it in a while, I believe it’s an interview with Chris Martin.
Loving your BTS reactions!! Their cover to ColdPlay “Fix You” is worth a listen! As well as the behind the scenes for this song! Do you by chance think you can react to “Magic Shop”… it has a beautiful message!
oh!!!!!!! the documentary / behind the scenes of both groups and this song!! it's really good and heartwarming :) (this is separate from the Making of the MV)
Saw this song performed live by Coldplay at Wembley Stadium and it was such an awesome experience. Chris Martin and the rest of the band is so amazing and I love their relationship with BTS.
This is like the best collab ever for me. Not just what they created but their journey, their relationship, the mutual respect.... It's just everything 🤌
This was a proper collaboration. BTS were fanboying over Chris and Chris was blown away by their hard work and professionalism. He was concerned about the language barrier but soon realised that it was no problem. What is nice about this is the amount of Korean in it. They enjoyed themselves so much making this. Chris really took to Jin and gave him a guitar and later worked on The Astronaut with him including him in Coldplay’s concert in Argentina. It wasn’t an easy gig for Jin. He had to fly for many hours then the stage setup was not what he was used to so he couldn’t hear properly but he pulled it off wonderfully. Performing without his brothers was a first for him but Chris was there to support him.
Chris actually travelled to Korea to record the track for this and they filmed the journey. It is an amazing watch if you have not see that. The respect they have for each other is very moving!
The concept was a creative decision, to show them in different worlds, it's not because they couldn't/didn't want to fly them all to be the same space 😂 Coldplay did in fact fly to Korea to record the song together with BTS, check out the behind the scenes for that.
7:33 the one doing the higher tone along with suga is suga himself!😅 you should check out their documentary "Inside My Universe" to see how all of it happened and came together
The live version of VIBE by taeyang and jimin is epic, truly. You could watch the music video and do the live recording? Taeyang is from Big Bang, who debuted before BTS and who Jimin got Iots of inspiration from over the years with regard to performance style and vocal techniques, even dance and attitude 😊 I sing (not like you, by any means) and thought the juxtaposition between those two performances was impressive!
The live bass is from the bass player of Coldplay. They also played and sung live at each other's concert plus they did it at the one of the USA award Show's.
Two of the most loved, most humanitarian groups in the word making some of the most beautiful sounds in the universe! Love overcomes everything in the end💜 Borahae BTS, Coldplay, ARMY & Coldayers🐙🐳
Suga also produced a version of this and it was released on their own channel. I will just check to be sure and edit comment. I love his production too. Edit: Suga's remix is also on Coldplay's official RUclips channel.
They have a documentary of Chris going to South Korea to meet BTS and record this song. It doesn’t really show the instruments since it was focused on recording vocals. Still a very interesting video to watch though. It was heartwarming seeing how much the members of BTS and Chris Martin appreciate each other’s artistry.

@@amaris4541I am thinking the same thing!
So the night before he shot the MV, Jin wrote another verse in Korean, recorded it and sent it to Chris.
the documentary is a must for this
7:25 It's Yoongi in the back, just up the octave.
When Chris joined them onstage in LA ... it was EVERYTHING ...
100% check out the behind the scenes video they made with Chris Martin busting Seoul to record the song, it’s truly beautiful!
You must react to the coldplay and bts documentary on how they made the song and the presentation of jin from bts at the coldplay concert in Argentina singing astronaut, which is his solo song 😊
The rap with singing over it you liked was done by same person, SUGA on both tracks
That's Suga himself rapping in a higher pitch along with his rap in the lower pitch!
It’s actually Yoongi singing over his own rap part. That makes it even more awesome!!!
At 7:22 SUGA was harmonizing to himself😎 They do this all the time especially in their solo works.
I love that at the end.... we are alone in the universe... NO WAIT... we are all one in the universe ⭐🎶♥️
Definitely recommend reacting to the My Universe documentary! It's awesome watching Chris work with BTS in the studio together.
High in the background, Suga himself is rapping! There is a video of how they recorded it, there are a lot of interesting things!
Chris didn't want captions so everyone would just experience the beauty of their language
Jimin's part is short but it’s very good 😭😭😭❤️❤️i love it
I was front row during the LA concert when Coldplay joined them! It was such a shock, I did NOT expect to see Chris Martin on stage.
Chris is a big BTS fan and has such wonderful things to say about our guys. I love their collabs! Thanks for your reactions to BTS. 💜
Watch both!
7:15 he's harmonizing with himself here. This higher singing rap is also Suga's voice.
There is a mini documentary about this collab. I think you would love that :) and thanks for the info about saturn
that last part, when it creates a tension like.. what's gonna happen next and comes an instrumental part before it ends?
Thank you!
The behind the scenes for this mv is good to watch too. Martin talks abt the collaboration.
Now you have to watch the mini docu of how this collab came about. it’s a must!
Pay attention to the lyrics when you get a sec, they’re so meaningful too. And yes! The Bass in this is amazing, as well as everything else 💜
Chris is the only member of Coldplay that flew to South Korea o record My Universe,
Check out the behind the scenes of how rhis song was written. Chris from Coldplay traveled to Korea and wrote the song and recorded it in person with BTS.
For Suga’s rap part, he also did the singing part.
Awesome. Thank you!!
There is a short documentary video on the making of this song. It was done during the pandemic, and Chris Martin went all the way to Korea, sat through the two week quarantine, all so he could make this song in person, rather than messaging files back and forth.
BTS often has one member (Jung kook or Jimin) sing high and another member sing low (V or Jin). I always love when they do that.
They did a behind the scene of the making of this song and Chris speaks about their mutual love and appreciation for each other.
I loved the way they did the Music Video too, distant but together, which was the whole motif for the song
There's great mini doc of the recording session.
oh!!!!!!! the documentary / behind the scenes of both groups and this song!! it's really good and heartwarming :) (this is separate from the Making of the MV)
I’m glad you pointed the rapping and singing at the same time. I love when they do that too.
During Suga’s rap where you pointed out the second voice harmonizing, that was also Suga. He did both parts.
Chris actually travelled to Korea to record the track for this and they filmed the journey. It is an amazing watch if you have not see that. The respect they have for each other is very moving!
This was such a great moment witness. The fact that this collaboration happened makes me feel so happy
I recommend watching the documentary as well.
El astronauta...vivo en Argentina 🙋... Coldplay y Jin...nuestra luna😊
Happy to see a new reaction
I would recommend to react to bts love myself its a very good song
I agree💯. The song is called Love Myself: Answer. Live performance showcased their awesome vocals.
Edit: Suga's remix is also on Coldplay's official RUclips channel.
you have to see the decumentary of this song, how they make it and other stuff is so amazing
