I bought the Peugeot 2008 (2021 with 70k on the clock) 6 months ago. During warranty I got the timing belt replaced and twice empty in oil.. Still 6 months warranty to go but, to be honest I am very disappointed, every 2000-3000 km having new oil doesnt feel good.
Thanks for the video, interesting. What miles had this one done, i keep hearing of high oil consumption and the theory seems to be gummed up rather than worn rings. Thanks again!
Thanks for the video. Same problem here. Crazy high oil consumption. I replaced plugs coils wet timing belt. The car improved but still very high oil consumption. Im thinking of replacing engine rings and valve stem seals. Do you recommend another thing while doing that ? Like gaskets or seals ? Or should i do engine overhaul ? Appreciate it. Thanks
Always worth replacing all the gaskets whatever comes off replace. Once the head is off put some oil on top of the pistons for a few hours and see if the level drops. Will indicate of the piston rings are worn too
Hi I am facing same issue, heavy, insane oil consumption for the 1.2 puretech engine. and recently while trying to accelerate near signals after a complete stop i am able to see white smoke as well. is it good to repair or replace the whole engine ? because repair seems to be costing around 2500 to 3000 euros and new engine including labour is costing 5000 euros in total. what would you suggest ? my car millage is 1,70,000 km already.
I work for a company so I don’t do the pricing only repairs. I would contact your local garage and see if that’s something they would do and price. Different locations/garages have different labour rates etc

I would personally get it checked, but with the wet belt design I do recommend changing the oil every 5-7000 miles
I went down the same road with mine. Interestingly, cylinder 2 showed a pristine piston top; 1 and 3 were manky.
Well at least you found the problem 👌

Sorry I can’t quite remember the mileage on this one been a while 😅
@@owensautotips no problem, I appreciate you getting back to me. 👍

@@owensautotipsthanks a lot
Almost 1 liter every month...absurd...is it possible do a travel of 300 km? I am scared
Depends how many miles your doing in that month to loose 1 litre
@owensautotips for 1700 km, i lost 3 liters...

If it’s smoking badly then I would suggest your piston rings are also failing. I would replace the whole engine at that point
@@owensautotips Thanks a lot for taking time to reply to my comment.
But bad valve seals give blue smoke and that's not the case 🤷♂️
Not if it’s a slow leak buddy 👍 I’ll stick the bore scope in the intake next time and show you the wet valves 🙂
And to top it off the customer has been back for a service since and they’ve had no issues with oil consumption since. So seems you know everything
@@owensautotips hey guy cool down I was just curious do you have a bad day or something
You say curious but you literally said to me that’s not causing the issue. I’m calm buddy
How can you do a leak down test on a cylinder with the piston at the top lol Cylinder could be scored below that
Hi how much does it cost to solve the issue please?
