Around the 0:43 mark there's a guitar chord strummed that comes up several times in the song but you can see that neither of those guys are playing it. Is that pre recorded?
The Cure is good too. 80s songs are so well written but have dated sounds like synths and echoey sounding drums and vocals, so they are good for acoustic or slow remakes. Like Gary Jules' Mad World which is a Tears for Fears cover.
Most music from any decade sounds dated, it's impossible not to. The 90's was a little better, but there are so many 90's jams I hear that sound silly. I like Radiohead, b/c they refused to be dated from OK Computer onward. Spoon also keeps evolving.
