I really like what you said about copying inducing stress. I hadn’t ever thought about that before and your comment really hit home. I’m so glad you “didn’t shut up “ as you put it. I, as well as many others I’m sure, needed to hear your insight-this is one of the reasons we follow you! Thank you, Diane, for everything you do for us!❤
I love all of your long paint-along videos! I watch them through when they are new and then replay them in the background when I am writing...but you really have me at all Animals. ❤
I agree about not copying. I get inspiration from other people but then I put my spin on it. Painting along with you tube artists has helped me because I get a ton of practice as a beginner. I am now at the place where I can do so much more on my own.
Thank you for your talent and calming presence. I am a 70 year old retiredart teacher in the US. I find that I I tap on your videos after binging on political news. You help me relax. I love to draw and paint and you fill the bill!!❤❤
I rather appreciate your calm voice and your quite spaces too. It soothes all the other voices in my head calling me to do uninteresting things…like house work 🙃
I tried the quirky bird today. First a practice one and then one in my painting journel. It turned out so pretty! Thank you, you are a wonderful teaching and you are very calming to watch. I've been trying a number of your birds, I've done the cute bird family and three round birds, and three cats! My family is very impressed. I'm 67 and I just started. Your designs are so cute!
Thanks so much for these whimsical characters…watercolour with pen pattern embellishments are so enjoyable…love the dip pen for the hairs on the cats tails..suits there personalities so well..🙂🇨🇦🎄🎄🎄
Made the first three and had trouble deciding which one to give my daughter in law for a birthday card. Settled on the first one…whimsical bird. I think that should will love it
Dear Diane, it has been awhile since I sent appreciation for you . I love your content (except when you are hard on yourself😉) but it’s you and your voice and stories which are so comforting while I art alone all day. I imagine that your voice is the comforting mother I wish I had experienced and my usually unsettled nervous system calms right down. Do you realize how special you are? I hope you do and that someone close to you is telling you what a wonderful difference you make in the world. Blessings from the Kansas prairie.❤️
Hi “art tulip” and thanks so much for your kind words ! I’m so glad you enjoyed this video and that you find them comforting. I also didn’t have a mother to comfort me when I was young so I suppose that’s one reason why I tend to be hard on myself - I expect criticism not approval! So it’s great to have guys like you reassuring me that what I do is helpful - thank you so much and sending you love and blessings from the wilds of Brittany! Xxx
I am new here..and wow you are so delightful charming and very pleasant to listen to. Thank you for inviting us in to your space and love for painting❣️

You just said not to copy, but that's why I watch your videos. I just started painting after raising 6 kids and working. Painting with you is giving me such joy and the skills to do my own, so Thank You ❤❤❤
I painted this whimsical bird for a little girl I’m trying to encourage. I feel sure she will really like it! She loves art and music which makes me hope we can be friends!

The Tiller Girls !!! 🎉🥳. Fabulous. Sunday Night at the London Palladium ! That’s a blast from the past, indeed 🤗 I was about to type this to you saying my parents let me stay up late to watch that on a Sunday evening…..and you said the words !! I thought it was so grown up being allowed to watch tv at that time of the evening. 🥳😂 It was quite eery when you said the words that I was typing ….and that often happens …but I guess we are a similar age, so no doubt we will have memories of the same era .
Hi Sheila, thanks so much for you message, that’s so funny! I loved Beat the Clock (our tastes were very simple weren’t they!) and I think it was on at about ten to nine and I was allowed to watch that before being packed off to bed. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year !
Super painting session. Really enjoyed the tip about using tracing paper for eye placement. You always have such great lessons along with calming painting. I’m still watching the rest. Have a Happy Easter, or Mother’s Day - whichever is coming up for you.
I've loved watching this Diane,I've not watched it in one go just a few paintings at a time. You made me laugh when you said take an idea and run with it, I'm going to name drop here AHUM! When I met the Queen Camilla , I decided to paint a hedgehog, just a card for a friend , and as we were asked by the organiser if we could take along our hobbies to work on while HRH walked around, I decided to take my card,I also painted a fairy on a toadstool with hedgehog and a few other animals, she went along chatting with everyone when she got to me she said 'Oh I do love your Hedgehog ' which caused a few sniggers around the men on our table and something I now have to live with , Anyway I said 'Do you ? She said yes I know how hard it is to paint woodland creatures. I didn't believe her either but it was lovely of her . While I was talking to the queen someone took a rather nice photograph of us ,I sent it to my brother in law who keeps a copy on his phone, he told me last week that when he's at his favourite hostilery, he often shows people a close up photo of me,while they are wondering why? he panns out and Queen Camilla appears, apparently it's going down a storm in the pub, so when l walked into the pub at Christmas I was asked by a few people what was it like to meet the Queen 😂 Oh the price of fame !!! Happy New Year everyone ☺

Hi Lynne, and thanks so much for your kind comment! It’s always difficult to know what to do regarding the music, but we have learnt over the years that people prefer it without, in general. Although for the latest long video that we just put up we decided to go for a mixture, and of all 10 projects about half have got some quiet music in the background! if we make it quiet enough I think it often can be tolerated even by those of us who are sensitive to it. Personally I don’t like listening to other peoples videos when they have music so I totally understand your feelings! Hope you enjoy watching this one again later and painting something along with it. These long videos have turned out to be a real favourite amongst many people. Sending your best wishes, with love from Diane XXX
I love your art and I also live on a farm, though it was my rootiy crowing for a second! 🤣 I love hearing your story’s about the farm. Hi there, thanks so much for your comment! Lovely to hear from you as a fellow sheep parent! Nothing more exciting than having lambs - we really enjoyed our (exhausting) lambing seasons but we don’t have a ram any more so no more of that going on for now! I haven’t found a satisfactory white pen. They all give up after a while. The Posca I used today isn’t bad, but the line is a little too thick for what I need. It’s a Uni Posca PC 1-MR .7mm - I also use Uniball and Pentel - I think they are all roughly the same. They don’t work well for long on cold pressed paper, they don’t like going over paint unless it’s absolutely dry, and their nibs dry out. You have to have a constant supply of them, they just don’t last. I threw out two today in despair! It’s an alternative to use white gouache and a fine brush, but more fiddly. Have fun though, that’s the main thing!
