Awesome long video Diane with some great easy ideas to try. I absolutely ADORE your extra long videos. There are not very many art teachers that make these very long videos so we can just put them on and let them play. No fuss No muss. You are the Star!
I hope that you will treasure the respect and admiration all your followers have for you as we watch your videos. Your tutorials give us beginning artists so much to appreciate. Blessings. Marilyn from Pensacola.
Of course, it is an amazing gift to me at this time in my life to be able to finally reach out to people who need my help… Thanks for sharing and love to you xxx
I have a friend who wants to start painting. Thanks to you I found Meeden and am gifting her a paint set with Meeden paper for her birthday in a week. I can't wait to give them to her. I enjoy your videos and have used them many times as a warm up before my own paintings. I was concerned about you since you didn't put up a video yesterday. I was hoping it wasn't your health. Glad to see you were just very busy.❤ Also, just think about the number of people watching your videos. They could fill a stadium! You're a rock star.😊
Hi there, and thanks so much for your message! I’m so glad that you are pleased with the Meeden products! We won’t be doing daily videos throughout December, you will find us on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, but on the intervening days we will be sharing other inspiring material - I haven’t even begun my Christmas shopping yet and I can’t possibly do a video every day! Thanks again for your lovely comments and sending you best wishes for a happy holiday season.
I agree about the teaching to draw... When I took art classes after high school and my twenties, they would teach you different methods by example. Of course going back to the famous artists. And you would learn the names of the methods and the.s of art and style but The only thing I remember being taught was perspective. Like if you're drying a building. But no one can teach you how to dry your own lines or your on trees or anything. Just some techniques you're exposed to. I think that's the same with anything including cooking. Some people can't follow a recipe to save their lives. You can have the same exact recipe in a class and it all comes out different. And also language my second thing to cooking in art. Besides computer sciences for my job which to me was language with computers... We had one girl in my class. That was my friend and when I was study in spanish fir6 years in my first year The teacher tried to have me help her understand the language and she just could t get it. Even though I taught her that the words Our backward sometimes the one thing you can teach is how they formulate a sentence. You say red table, In spanish it's table of red. Their nails are always first and description second. That part you can teach but you didn't get it. The 1 day she came in really proud, saying she worked on her homework for like 2 hours and translated every word, and she said it should be much better to day. I put so much working to this. And the teacher sometimes would ask us to read out loud parts of the homework. I was so embarrassed for her because she literally translated every word in the exact order of the english sentence... Completely ignoring how the spanish sentences set up. Which is the thing that is most important in foreign languages. The teacher didn't say anything i've heard a few snickers in the class. The teacher pulled me aside and said can you explain to her again. And I think I said to the teacher I can't i've tried. I have no idea why that teacher wouldn't talk to her and made me do it. After that I didn't really help her anymore. I tried to say you can't translate every word in the same order. I don't think she dropped out. And the teacher gave a pass and grade for trying, but she never took spanish again. I eventually became fluent. Even though i'm scottish born.. So even though there's hundreds of classes in the arts I completely agree with you. You can't teach someone to have talent. Like me, I can't sing. I took one class in elementary school. It was a choir. I realized I was bad and never opened my mouth again. Not even to sing happy birthday!!
I love the idea of little birds on the Christmas tree!! Do you always put your candy canes on upside down? They are magically hanging there…which is just fine, actually…Christmas is about magically making children happy isn’t it? I love the sound of the rain too! I didn’t know how it rained in Brittany until I watched your videos! It must be quite green and lush. Thank you for the sweet video!💕💕💕
Sometimes I get things upside down or back to front! Especially things that I’m not really familiar with as a traditional thing, like candy canes, which aren’t really traditional English, but adopted from the states, and I suppose I wasn’t thinking about how to attach them, just they look the wrong up when the hook is at the top - I’m weird, I know!
I love these long videos. I work from home alone and I play them in the background. I love that you are talking about something I adore, watercolors and that you are with me throughout the day! Makes me feel not so alone.
I've learned how to complete paintings by listening to you sorting out your own art. We have different styles but you inspired me to complete a rose painting with dark background. I love your gentle humor. Congratulations on 130K subscribers.
I find taking a picture helps to see things you might miss ! I just did something similar & I took a picture to send to my friend & I immediately saw something I missed,😉 You have rain & we have about 10 inches of snow. We have about 10 cows & a few calf's that have decided to stop over here for the last few days. We finally found the owner & he brought hay today. My husband was just on his way get hay when he showed up! So it's been interesting , we have 40 acres & we get lots of wildlife now long horn cows!
That's a great idea! ... to take a picture so you can see how it looks I love Diane's ideas, I learned so much from watching her. And the cows! That's hilarious.❤
Your voice along with your exceptional paintings , give me more encouragement to keep going. I have the same paints and fell in love with them. I enjoy your teachings. I would love to buy a painting of yours.
Your gift inspires a sense of whimsy ,and reminds us to enjoy and allow ourselves to break out and explore….which is what the best teachers do. I appreciate what you do.
I love, love, love my Robin tree! Thank you for the GREAT tutorial and inspiration! My husband suggested I make it larger and hang it on the wall. I really like the idea! ❤❤
I framed the picture sent with your fabulous brushes and tan into trouble 😵💫 I was going to gift it to a friend but can't part with it 😂. Thank you again for your generosity of including the picture.
These long videos are nice thank you. I especially like that you vary the subjects so we can always choose what to paint. Your love of animals always shines through! 🙂
Thanks so much for all these…I love all the small animals..robins in the Christmas tree..hedgehog & rabbit skiing…reminds me of a hedgehog pet I had in England as a child..no hedgehogs here🇨🇦 as far as I know….apparently it’s going to be a “ brown Christmas” in YYC…unusually warm for this time of year
Мне очень нравятся ваши рисунки, я смотрю и пробую нарисовать так же. Буду рисовать открытки для своих друзей глядя на ваши работы , большое спасибо! 👍
I have come to the conclusion, after months of watching a wide range of watercolor artists online, why I prefer your presentations so much. I enjoy your whimsey, but moreover, I appreciate your words. You do not spend excessive time saying the words/phrases "just gonna grab some green" or say "kinda" fifteen times during a fifteen minute timespan or "gunna" . I feel terrible for admitting that the slang often used "is just kinda" ....well, ya know....thank you Diane for every video you have ever done. I have come to appreciate not only a presentation visually, but the way one speaks as well. Please don't take these comments as too critical, as it is meant to be for a bit of fun, but when I heard you say that you are deleting "grab" from your vocabulary, I had to laugh. I also can now draw/paint a robin and a rabbit thanks to you. :)
I was so looking forward to seeing the reveal of the panel sky . It was gorgeous but you didn’t reveal ! Maybe you did at the end but I’ll have to watch the rest later as my carers due . Loving these Christmas long videos Diane . Lots of inspiration for next year as I’ve done , addressed and stamped all ready to post on Monday , this years cards .

This bird Christmas tree is lovely and I’m going to try this one. I can’t draw and I’m practicing on the these birds and they don’t look as sweet as yours, so I’m adjusting by not being so precise. All of your holidays tutorials are adorable and I learn a lot from you. This Christmas card series is such a great idea and I’m enjoying it so much. Thank you! 🎨 👍🌲
Hello #DianeAntone A big thank you for sharing your video's and tips on painting so many different subjects, and sharing all the tools and paper paints you use too. I would say I am thoroughly loving your channel on you tube. I would like to ask please which book you are refering to in this video with green cover and showing on page 104. I just realised this is an older video clip and you may not find this message for sometime. Thank you once again for sharing everything. I think it is time to look at your studio store online with Amazon too. I also need to locate some plywood A3 size from hardware shop to use as a Clipboard still trying to get started I have only 2 paintings completed so far... I need to start 👩🎨🎨🖼
Hi Christine and sorry for not noticing your kind message until now! You’re right, the messages people leave on older videos don’t show up easily! I think you might have found out the answer to your question, but I think you were referring to the 365 Days of Art in Nature by Laura Scobie? So glad you’ve found our channel and I hope you enjoy the journey!
@DianeAntoneStudio if possible can you share a link to your shop online also and your studio many thanks for replying no need to apologise as you have over 130,000 subscribers I wasn't expecting a reply at all. Reminds me of the saying like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Thank you for sharing and working so hard on everything you paint post and email.
I didn't realize there were a pen as you could draw with first and then do water color and they don't run. It's been so long since I've done this. I always had to pencil sketch first. Then do water colors wait to everything dried. And then I would outline with pen and ink or put sometimes texture in with the pen. But I was using the old fashioned pens that draw up the ink with the point and dip it into the well. Because i'm that old or in classes that's all they had us buy. In the nineteen seventies or late sixties in school. I have been to some really cool art stores here in California. And I did see different types of pins and colors but i've never bought them. I'm looking back into this now that i'm going to be fully retired. And I'm done with computers and technology. I teach software on this side. But I want to get back to my artistic roots. Cooking drying and painting. Well, I've always kept cooking but I've also done arts and crafts. When my son was little I could entertain him and have him help What I call three dimensional arts. He would have never had the patience for me to do my painting a drawing. So I've waited a lifetime but I believe I know I lost quite a few of my paintings. I still have some Of the ones I did in high school added my early twenties. Not too Many because sometimes my teachers would ask if they could keep my drawings to show other classes. And then they wouldn't give them back At the end of the school year I was really upset with one teacher. She kept them all. And when I asked for them back At the end of the year I had to come like 3 days after school closed at a certain time. And I couldn't get my dad to take me. I think that was really wrong of her. But I remember in class when she used to tell us About drawing and painting she would use previous students artwork. Then I realized she stole it. That's how she had all their paintings. I was too shy to say anything to my parents or the teachers. But to this day it still bothers me. I drew pictures of nights and shining armor and individual Chain mail it took me forever. Castles and statues in history. Well at least you're in my minds eye.
Loved the bookmarks so cute , watch your videos all the time - did you know bunnies in the winter are white and their undercoat is grey so like many animals have a couple of layers of fur, ,
I have two types of cards, the Etchr ones Etchr greetings cards etchrlab.com/collections/cards/products/gccp which are very nice but expensive, and the Strathmore greetings cards amzn.to/41fpgqo which are good but less expensive.
I have decided to paint Christmas card s in advance so I will have plenty for next year,I sent my American FB friend one she wanted to know how I painted it so you may get a new subscriber Diane,I'll let you take the blame😂😂 . My art teacher at school taught us to draw,we all loved her,her art room was separated from the rest of the school so when it was time for us to take our O level exams, she put a young lad who was in trouble with the head (in detention) as a guard on the door as a lookout for the head, and blasted out Beethoven for as long as the exam took ,as a result we all past our O level exam, so what does that tell you? Funny enough I submitted a drawing which was displayed after the exam ,and have always been able to draw ,which annoys the more snobby artists in my art group who trace , hummm, So thank you Mrs Bradbury your my Hero x☺
Those sorts of memories are very precious aren’t they! Art was definitely my favourite subject at school and I did get my O level but I have ZERO recollection of it - probably traumatised by some event involving my disobedience (I was very naughty at school, I bet you never would’ve guessed !!) I would have loved to go to art college but being from a working class family my mother thought it better that I learn to type and find a husband … a very old chestnut but she was probably right and that’s what I did anyway…
@@DianeAntoneStudio Same here Diane, my parents wouldn't even of thought of collage until the teacher told them to send me to collage to work with Children , I HATED every minute , it was the time of those hippy teachers who used to come into work crying every morning , I left after a year best thing I ever did but lost direction ,shame really there were no guidance in those days if you stumbled into a job you liked you were very lucky , art college would of been a dream come true for me , I used to watch the art students in Bournville college green with envy .. Oh well Happy New Year x
Funny isn’t it. Life. I left school in 1971 with a handful of qualifications and no clue what to do with them. I was interested in languages, and enrolled in at Birkbeck College (I think it was) to do a translators course but this was before the Common Market so there wasn’t much future in it so I never started the course. There were jobs growing on trees and I was offered lots of really boring stuff. I eventually took a job with the Midland Bank and hated it and left after a year when my mum died, and finally managed to get to university but hated that too (lonely) so I abandoned it and married my childhood boyfriend. That lasted long enough to get me two children!
Diane you are holding a book with a green cover. May I have the name of this book. I have been searching for it on Amazon. I was almost going to buy this book 6 months ago, but chose 2 others that are really mediocre. I am in Australia, love your daily painting.
Found it in the individual video on nativity lol. Etchr Pearlescent 1/2 pan set of 12. What is the metallic 1/2 Pan set you're using? I replayed trying to find it and looked at your supply list but I'm missing it.
The closest I can find is this ETCHR Pearlescent Watercolor Set of 12 amzn.to/3lStLq3 which has golds and other pearlescent colours in it, lovely paint!
What is your recipe for your vegetarian nut roast for Christmas? You are my inspiration! I am a professional artist with painful shoulders and arms. You inspire me everyday to keep painting and trying to paint everyday even through the pain and wobbly hands. Thank you for your showing up everyday!!! You are my meditation! My safe place! I wish you all things wonderful🎄♥🎨👼🎅🐑
I have put my recipe for nut roast on my personal Facebook page which you can find here - facebook.com/keesmitten Let me know if you can’t find it. I’m so glad that you’re enjoying following our videos and getting some pleasure out of the painting. Sorry to hear about your pain problems. Wishing you a happy holiday season ❤️
I have used Schmincke watercolors since around 1988 when they first became available to me - I went to Germany and “discovered” them there. Sadly they were very hard to find in England at that time and later when I lived in Canada, impossible to find. However, I still have a set and now replace them when I need them buying online. The difference is the price. One tube of Schmincke costs probably three times what Meeden tubes cost. And the difference is minimal for a beginner x
For the person that can't stand listen to You. Swash washer UP you're pink brushes. Just put on the captions, and then they can watch and see what you're saying and not listen to any kind of switching or anything that was swishing, not switching 😂
You are correct american robins are different. The breast is a little more orange and the backs are dark gray.. I know that because my parents being British. We had books from canada as we lived in vancouver Which had a lot of British people in it. When it was a commonwealth and I was born in england and the robins were depicted differently than the american books. Then if you look it up the american robins don't look like red robins. I figured that out as a kid we don't have really red breasted robins here.
After my long comment how as kids learn to draw was. My father is to schedule the time. So we were had a pencil, one making pictures since we were kids. And then just got better at it. So for me turning pencil sketches into water color was my favorite thing. People tell me to do oil painting Which I never have. Because I can't take paint to paper without a little bit of a sketch. I don't know how people do that and make it look Real. I have to pencil schedge first. I used to feel like a failure, but people told me. Water colors are the hardest and oils you can change your mistakes. I tried it crilixon that was awful I hated A cryptic paint to me. There is no chance to depth or making the paint look different. If I was to do anything else. I would do the oils, but i've never had to desire all my life, And i've also used pen and ink for sketching and with water colors.. But my favorite was always pencil sketching.

I am loving these super long videos. You have a lovely soothing voice .
Thanks so much for your kindness and support xxx
I think like or a teacher that you respect is a person you will learn from. I am learning lots about watercolour on a daily basis now thank you.
I’m so glad you are enjoying learning watercolor, and to be helping you along the way is my pleasure!
All of these are so good but the hare and the hedgehog painting steals the show! You are so good at painting/drawing animals!
I love to listen to your musings like you might think this or that or what we could do could do.. You become like a friend. 💕
Wow, thank you
I love the idea of little birds on the Christmas tree!! Do you always put your candy canes on upside down? Really loved this one Diane…. And NO distracting background music, which’s drives me bonkers! Have a great Christmas and all the best for 2024.
I love these long videos. I work from home alone and I play them in the background. I love that you are talking about something I adore, watercolors and that you are with me throughout the day! Makes me feel not so alone.

Glad you enjoyed it Ulla! Thanks so much for commenting!
I enjoyed it very much! Thank you for all your lovely work
I like the technique of using cutouts as a guide...also LIVE that there is not a loop of music.
Yes, music loops drive us all nuts!!!

Hi Diane Just to Wish you and your family a very Big Massive Merry Christmas and a fabulous New Year 🥳🥳
So many lovely ideas for Christmas cards!
Glad you like them!

Your Robin Christmas tree inspired me! and I showed it to my pals in BC and now they are doing Robins - or as I like to call MINE - "Potatoes"!
Thank you so much for sharing your talent and gifts for teaching and confidence building!
Thanks for your lovely comment, really appreciate it!

As always your ability astounds me. I have yet to see a video that I wouldn't frame.

Loved the bookmarks so cute , watch your videos all the time - did you know bunnies in the winter are white and their undercoat is grey so like many animals have a couple of layers of fur, ,
So cool!
❤❤❤❤❤
I’m sure you’ve mentioned before but I can’t find it - which cards are you using? They look great!
I have two types of cards, the Etchr ones Etchr greetings cards etchrlab.com/collections/cards/products/gccp which are very nice but expensive, and the Strathmore greetings cards amzn.to/41fpgqo which are good but less expensive.
Love this video! What kind of paint makes the dark blue backgroun in the beginning?
I found it. I thnk it is the Kuretake ...
Probably the Blue Grey Deep or Indigo…
@@DianeAntoneStudio The 70's have a lot to answer to xx
Thank you….
Diane you are holding a book with a green cover. May I have the name of this book. I have been searching for it on Amazon. I was almost going to buy this book 6 months ago, but chose 2 others that are really mediocre.
I am in Australia, love your daily painting.
I am visually impaired so having this book close up would really help. Cheers.
Found it in the individual video on nativity lol. Etchr Pearlescent 1/2 pan set of 12.
What is the metallic 1/2 Pan set you're using? I replayed trying to find it and looked at your supply list but I'm missing it.
Love watching your long videos! I may have missed it but what is the name of the metallic paint set you used in the beginning of the video? Thanks!
The closest I can find is this ETCHR Pearlescent Watercolor Set of 12 amzn.to/3lStLq3 which has golds and other pearlescent colours in it, lovely paint!
Thanks so much! I’m off to look! Merry Christmas.
I have put my recipe for nut roast on my personal Facebook page which you can find here - facebook.com/keesmitten
Let me know if you can’t find it. I’m so glad that you’re enjoying following our videos and getting some pleasure out of the painting. Sorry to hear about your pain problems. Wishing you a happy holiday season ❤️
You can get this kind of coverage with Schmincke watercolours too ❤
I have used Schmincke watercolors since around 1988 when they first became available to me - I went to Germany and “discovered” them there.
@@DianeAntoneStudio ah, ok. I live in Germany so they aren't that expensive here 🙂 Not cheap but less than abroad.
🌟❤️🌞🇸🇪
Dear Diane your candy canes are upside down sweetie 😉
Yes, I know. I’m on the other side of the world!
