- This sitcom, which began life on CBS radio, came to CBS TV for 4 seasons from 1952-56. 130 episodes were made, followed by a feature film of the same name.
The Miss (Contance) Brooks of the title was a high school English teacher, played by Eve Arden. Stories revolved around Brooks' daily work life with students, fellow teachers, and blustery principal Osgood Conklin (played by Gale Gordon). Walter Denton (Richard Crenna) was a frequently seen student. Jane Morgan was also on hand as Margaret Davis, Miss Brooks' absent-minded landlady.
In the 3rd season episode "Here is Your Past", trouble arises when Brooks tries to find a home for a stray puppy, while also being followed by a strange man who keeps absconding with several items of Denton, Conklin, and biology teacher (and Brooks' romantic interest) Philip Boynton (Robert Rockwell). All blame Miss Brooks for taking the items while she professes her innocence. In the end, everything leads to Brooks appearing live on a "This Is Your Life"-style show, along with her unsuspecting theft victims.

Eve Arden will always be one of the greatest female comics of all time. I remember this great show.
Thank you so much for the wonderful old black and white shows. They bring me so much comfort as I go through a lot of medical stuff. Bless you. ♥️
Sending good thoughts, best wishes and prayer. God bless you!!!
@@ginnylorenz5265 Thank you so much!
Blessings on your day.
Know what u mean same here me 2
I'd rather watch these old black and white shows instead of anything on TV...
And glad it's not colorized...
Eve Arden was a comic genius ! ❤😊
I love these old shows, they are so much better than today's shows. Thank you so much for posting these.❤
Fantastic show... and lovely lady - Arden was the picture of class and just plain 'smart'. Stole every scene she was ever in. (And born in 1908 - a Leap year)
Eve Arden; such an incredibly distinct voice and persona....
Richard Chennai cracks me up!
I turned 9 years old in 1955😊
I was very ill when I was about 12 and the doctor said I had to be in bed by 8:00...The Our Miss Brooks film was playing that night on TV and I begged my parents to stay up one more hour. I loved her so much...and still do! ❤
These old shows are more engaging and interesting than the shows today. Every time I get overwhelmed with stress and anxiety, I’ll watch Miss Brooks or Lucy and I feel relaxed. ❤❤❤❤❤
You're so right.
This may have been the best TV has ever been. ❤️
Love, love, love Eve Arden and "Our Miss Brooks"!❤
SO How many radio stars failed to make the move to television, but not Eve Arden - totally translated her character. And then twenty years later she's in Grease - still totally on her game. What an amazing gifted natural performer.
She was in many movies, too, beginning in 1929.
She’s been doing plays with her husband, nightclubs, and I don’t think they ever really stopped working. Her husband was also an actor, Brooks West. And they adopted for children. They met while she was doing the television version of our Miss Brooks.
@@seankelly260 Eve and Lucy both made a smooth transition, though Lucy and Desi changed the name and changed the way television shows were made. Our Miss Brooks is a Desilu production, so was Star Trek TOS. That’s so cool. Lucy was the head of the studio for some time and knew almost everyone by name. Aaaaah…. The golden age of television. 📺
That Gale Gordon sneeze was a classic.
Wow! Richard Crenna is so young. I just love this. So many memories. Thanks for all the episodes!
Actually, he is 29 here portraying a teenager
@@lisahardy970729 isn’t young?
@@dylan594 His character was a high school student so 29 is NOT young for high school
Like many baby boomers, I enjoyed watching Richard Crenna's career skyrocket as he became not only well known but well respected for his ability to assume a variety of roles. And I can not comment here without mentioning what a national treasure Eve Arden is...I've loved her since I was in kindergarten.
I'm first generation gen x, and I remember watching centennial in Junior high school and his colonel skimmerhorn character and couldn't believe they were the same people
Fun fact, Walter's voice in this was the inspiration for the voice of Shaggy in Scooby Doo.
Just loved this show very much. I enjoy seeing Eve Arden again. I was very young when this show started. Wish it was still on TV. If I could find out what station it is on I would be very happy. RIP EVE ARDEN. You were such a great actress.
I love Our Miss Brooks and absolutely adore Eve Arden!
Walter definitely was the inspiration for shaggy rogers.
The retro tv channel DECADES runs 2 episodes of Our Miss Brooks daily but I sometimes can't get up early enough to watch (5 am EST) and/or my OTA signal is too poor. I am a big Eve Arden fan, love this show.
4:30 is Richard Crenna!
Eve Arden just makes me smie with my heart.
Something about Miss Arden's voice quality... especially as she got older.
Yes
Lordy, what memories!
The 1950's...hey, I used to live there.
$49 in 1955 is the equivalent of $558 today. I’d want that money, too, if I were the butcher.
Please upload more Our Miss Brooks tv episodes. Thank you
The strange thing about this show is that it's about a high school teacher who they never show teaching.
big THANKS for finding n sharing these type oldies I addictively LOVE the BW sitcoms
I love these, and the Eve Arden Show. Is there a complete set or are some lost?
Thank you for the Our Miss Brooks episode, This is Your Past, from May 13, 1955, on the CBS Television Network. BTW, this episode is based on the Ralph Edwards show, This is Your Life, not Groucho Marx's You Bet Your Life, as mentioned in the above description, hence the bringing out on stage of Brooks' friends, co-workers, and one student. Classic comedy sitcom.
Stalkers were far better dressed 70 years ago than they are today. Back then, they really took an effort.
Hard to believe it’s only been 70 years.
Thank you for posting all of these classics ❤️
I lived on the economy, in Germany in the mid-1970's. We would frequently listen to The American Radio Broadcasts, a US Military radio that plays wherever there are bases. My favorite was the 11am airing of Our Miss Brooks. It was amazing how the jokes and skits held up
When I was a kid in the 1970's, my family moved from Colorado to Missouri. I got to meet my new Elementary Principal. She said her name was Mrs Brooks, just like the TV show. I had no clue what she was talking about. I only knew Gilligan's Island and the Brady Bunch. Throughout my life I have heard references to this show. Today I was watching an Elinor Donahue interview and she mentioned the show again. I'm 58 years old., and decided I was going to finally watch an episode to see what this show is about. Today was the day and this video was the episode. 1955 is when my dad graduated HS so this is more from his era. I can now say I've seen the show.
Lucy's character is so clearly similar to Miss Brooks.
Miss Brooks character is so clearly similar Lucy Ball she started first

I sometimes get up at 5AM to catch an hour of "Our Miss Brooks." It airs every week day morning here in New York City.😊
I am there myself out here on Long Island watching!
I love this show.
❤❤❤🤟
Not the current Mr. Brooks in court on trial.
I listen to the radio show while falling asleep and recognized her voice from grease. Had to look up the TV show too.
Nowadays dogs are not allowed in food selling shop.
Unless they are support animals.
Eve was wonderful. My grandparents and parents loved her show first run. I loved it later. We got the DVDs.
I like to close my eyes and still pretend I'm listening to a radio broadcast of the show. The voices are so distinctive.
