Sorry dude, but you are completely wrong in Burnes. His wife just had twins, he’s from Arizona (tax free state) and he was offered more elsewhere and wanted to stay home. Sterns likely kicked the tires and knew he wanted to be home. Accept that some players prefer family over their professional lives.

No, but if the Mets could have beaten the Red Sox’ offer for Garrett Crochet, and refused to, THEN they blew it. Stearns’ starting pitching strategy makes me extremely nervous, but I also don’t like megadeals for guys in their 30s unless they’re elite bat-missers, which Burnes hasn’t been for a couple of years now. I’m keeping my expectations for 2025 in check. A ridiculous number of things went right in 2024, including everyone on the Braves getting hurt, Jose Iglesias having a career year out of nowhere, Mark Vientos wildly overperforming his expected stats, almost everyone except Senga mostly being healthy, etc. Soto helps, but they still need a lot of things to go right, and everyone’s a year older.

As we stand today. Dodgers Padres Diamondbacks, signed Corbin and led league in runs scored, the nl central winner, Braves Phillies r better than Mets. All Mets have essentially done is exchange Alonso for Soto. Manea was on team last yr. No bullpen upgrade, no dh. No playoffs.

So you guys paid 800 plus million dollar for Soto but you can't pay for a good pitcher. Lmao 🤣 this team is going to be a joke especially with Clay Holmes as a starting pitcher. There are alot of what if in your starting rotation. You will be lucky to make it to the playoff. You will never get passed the Dodgers for the next five years and by then Soto will be owed 55 million a year to be a DH. This contract will not end well.

Stearns blew it..If you want to sign an as starter today don't expect to offer only 3 years contract, that is not going to happen..At least the Mets supouse to sign Burnes or another quality FA starter and get another via trade..Now with a dubious rotation we can't compete with Phillies and Braves for the National East pennant..And not only starters, the pen looks weak unimproved. Hoffman, Stanek are waiting for a call..Get some good arms to the pen and stop to add "marginal " pitchers over 5.00 ERA to come to spring training..Phatetic...
