    Also, there's no excuse to buy knock off parts, since there's a whole market of legit brands who build good products for a more accessible price, with their own products, instead of trying to capitalize on someone else's brand.

  • @Petermason_

    How about instead of categorizing and shaming people have fun with your car...does not matter what parts you have, if you are a fanboy, or if you have no experience. Motorsport is about having fun not about what you have or think, that’s the beauty of the car scene everyone has something in common. The only ones ruining the car scene are the toxic assholes.

      ROTORS look at history, back in the 50s where everyone had hot rods it was all about how fast you were, nobody cared what car you had. This modern judgement is turning people away from the hobby. At the end of the day it’s a hobby like everything else. I’m a sub and I will continue to sub because I enjoy the rotary content but non everyone wants a perfect car, the car is just the tool to have fun like a baseball bat

    • @KennyatHumble
      @KennyatHumble  6 лет назад +6

      Back in the 50s, you didn't have chinese companies stealing other companies products and brand name and reselling it.
      Once again. See #1.

    • @spinninmedia9564
      @spinninmedia9564 6 лет назад +1

      Yeah but in the 50's you also have people making their own parts to fix whatever problem they have because they can't afford a brand name part..... If it's a replica part and it works what's the issue? I'd have an issue if it was being sold as a brand part when it isn't or if the person who's installed it is claiming it's something it isn't then yeah i'd 100% understand but if they're just doing it because it works and is a bit cheaper? Hardly ruining the scene because you'll always have the big teams and the guys who only want brand name parts no matter what. If you want to go after people who can't afford brand parts then blame the whole car scene for being so inspiring. People see crazy drift cars, race cars, street cars or drag cars repping big brands and practically throwing money at their cars and think it's the coolest thing ever and want to try and do something like that. If they're just into cars as a hobby and say have a family and kids or other priorities to attend too in life then all of a sudden they shouldn't be allowed to build their car how they want because they can't afford the big name part? Now that isn't right if you ask me. For a lot of people cars are just for fun. It's not always super serious all the time. For a lot of people cars are an escape and if they think they'll enjoy it more with a replica part on then go for it. If they were building a proper track car however, then yes it'd make sense to go for a brand part but if it's just for kicks then I say why not. Now I didn't come here to hate or anything like that. I'm a fan of the channel and it's good to hear different opinions especially from someone who actually knows what they're on about so keep at it

    • @Petermason_
      @Petermason_ 6 лет назад +1

      Just saw your reply, cars aren't meant to be a status symbol of who can by which parts... its about having fun. Nobody is "stealing" parts, its a free market you buy the cheaper parts knowing they are cast wheels instead of forged. They are taking classic designs because that's what sells and even big companies like bbs rips of designs. bbs, work, rays ect can easily make affordable cast wheels but choose not to leaving people who enjoy cars left with nothing but reps. some people would rather spend 1k on a set of wheels that probably will hold up and can be thrashed around then spend 5k+ on wheels that are "correct". At the end of the day its a sport, whats next are you going to bash people for using rustoleum paint instead of bigger brands because they have it at a cheaper price? Stop trying to protect big brands they are fully capable of making affordable parts and not charging an arm and a leg. See #1.

    I disagree with the ebay-component stigma you seem to have.
    it is at the discretion of the purchaser whether they put their faith into that part or not. But saying their car is bad or they're less legitimate for it is incorrect. Will the part outperform or be more reliable than a genuine? Probably not. It's still worthy of respect, not to the same degree but respect nonetheless. The more vital the part is to the health of the car, the more questionable a knockoff product purchase is, at least to me. Turbos? No. Intercoolers? yeah.
    Both products are the same part and serve the same purpose. I'm not going to walk up to some 19 year old plebian's car with a ebay turbo and say "that not a legitimate turbo because it doesn't have a garrett/borg/whatnot embossing". But I will think to myself "oh boy he's gonna regret not ponying up when that compressor wheel goes balls deep on his engine".
    It comes to your "one upper" point, except in terms of "oh why would you have an ebay unit when you could get a ___," If that guy decided he trusts a "UberDuberFast GTX 6969R racing turbo" over the garrett, that's his choice and his mistake if it fails.
    The business practices of these ebay companies is shady at best, and supporting them is a huge faux-pas but if it bolts on and works as intended, fucking send it. If it blows up, well guess who's probably going to build it with name brand next time.

    I love the Askholes. They're so much fun to deal with.
    My favorite instance of dealing with Askholes was on the RX-7 forums a few months back when I asked if the NA or NB Miata gearboxes would fit into an SA22C/FB33 without modifying the trans tunnel and I immediately got flack saying that I shouldn't swap the original (ruined) gearbox for a "Gay Miata Box" (actual quote) and instead fix X, Y and Z (even though I had confirmed that the gearbox was beyond repair) to solve the issue I was having.
    It's funny how people presume to know your own car better than yourself.
    Speaking of which, do you guys @ROTORS know if a 5-Speed NA or 6-Speed NB manual box will fit in an SA/FB? My original gearbox is all but a goner. Synchros are gone in all gears and 5th gear no longer exists.
    I'm hoping I can squeeze a 6-Speed in there without hacking metal for some better fuel consumption and closer ratios.

Some advice for you; don't add the "lol" at the end of a response, it shows immaturity and it also shows that you are salty because you know I make a valid point and can't accept the fact you are the person who you criticize. I subscribed to this channel because I thought it had potential, I now realize it's just another car channel with cheap, rusted out projects that will never get done. Too bad.

But even I admit I'm edge of being 4. It takes time to funds for projects that was hardest lesson when I got interested in cars. So I understand the appeal of using eBay parts. My issue with these people are when they knows eBay but try to pass it off for the genuine part. Keep up the good work Rotors.
    S/N I'm loving project poverty. But any word on the next in-depth educational video

    I don't really know if my comment could have its place here. I take advantage anyway to ask here because this is where my comment could be read by you ROTORS. I wonder if the Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) coating couldn't improve the life of the rotary engine. What is your opinion on the idea? Can we DLC coat the rotor housing and apex seal or which one would be the best? Normally, it should improve the compression ratio and improve the slip even with less premix use or if by worst omissions we do not put premix or lubricating oil in the chamber at all. It could also reduce the rate of harmful emissions by reducing the amount of oil for the rotor chamber. I think the answers could help future projects of Rotaty enthousiast or professional racers. Who knows .. Mazda may have even studied the question for the future RX-9..

    Ebay or copycat parts is an issue in all industries. I hear it in Quadcopters and 3D printers forums, FB and YT all the time. If there was a copycat iPhone only Apple fanbois would bitch about it but Apple didn't invent the smartphone but what they did do was re-style the smartphones and called it their own. Same as the car industry, most products are re-styled with the same basic engineering of others from the past several decades and unless it is exactly the same with the same logo etc then you can't bitch about it.

    Wait so in order not to be a snowflake you have to go with the company that started first? because for example ktuned is like the exact same as hybrid racing. NOT saying ktuned is trash, but I think hybrid was out before ktuned. The parts are the same shit and colors are just different but same quality. So how you said companies copy and use there name that's what it looks like from the two companies. So does that mean I gotta buy hybrid to not be a snowflake???????

    Not sure where to ask you for information, so, I'll start here- feel free to re-direct me! A guy I know has an '04 RX8 with 28,000 miles, under a California car cover that he ordered from Mazda. Less than 3,000 miles in the last 7 to 10 years, but, had an accident 7 years ago that would've totalled a car with more miles on it. (Front end mushed back to firewall, but, motor undamaged.) He wants $12,000 for it, but- I think the motor MUST be junk by this point. Rotaries run pig rich at start up- so, between the 7 year stale gas that's overloaded with Sta-Bil, the non-use, and, now the gas in the oil- I think it may just be a very shiny piece of art, or, a very large paperweight. He claims that the engine comes with a 100,000 mile warranty, but, if i read the fine print right- it's 8 years, or, 100,000- whichever comes 1st. That ship has sailed I think. Any thoughts, any advice or recommendations? I think I'll walk, rather than a compression test. Too much money, not enough actual driving on this one. (Using wife's computer- it's Dave)
