    Fantastic lesson. I just discovered you and love your videos. First of all, the video on Drop Your Arms into the Slot was eyeopening. I just discovered, on my own, how important it is to dropping the arms straight down with my elbow pointing to my belt loop, BEFORE MAKING ANY ROTATION, especially the shoulders. I was struggling with this as I thought I was dropping my arms before I rotated, but discovered that I was not letting the arms drop enough, before rotating. That video really helped me. BUT NOW, USING THE GROUND TO DROP MORE INTO THE TRAIL LEG AND PUSHING UP AND FORWARD TO SLING THE CLUB INTO THE BALL, makes all the sense in the world! This allows that effortless swing, using the ground, and lower body to initiate the swing! I have been an arm swinger most of my life and trying to time the release. You along with Andrew Emery have very much made me award of the importance of keeping the trail wrist cupped back on itself through the swing. Your use of the ground is incredibly helpful and allows the arms to flow naturally and use gravity as it is intended to be used! Many thanks! I am a subscriber and an ardent follower from here on in!

      Hi Ronald, really pleased you’ve been enjoyed the videos and are having great success after watching my ground reaction videos and the dropping of the arms videos. Both really useful moves any golfers can do (some more suited to this than others) to hit more consistent and straighter golf shots.

    Sir, apologies for the lengthy comment, but, wow! Why didn't I discover your channel sooner. This makes so much more sense to me than almost anything I've seen on youtube. And I don't mean to detract from other teachers on here but, there is definitely more than one way to strike a golf ball.
    Ok, I'm old with bad hips/knees...let's just go with wore out. I've tried most everything including playing the ball off of my right foot at address (right hand player). That seemed to let me have the most consistent contact. If I tried a rotational swing (weight transfer) my low point moved all over the place. It's cold here in KY, but I can tell you that in the garage, into the net, this with a half swing feels fantastic and my trackman data is spot on. I can't wait to try this out on the course. Thanks for explaining this, I know of no one else that has explained the weight shift as well as you do in this video...new follower and subscriber!

      Hi Jeffrey,
      Thank you for your fab comment, it’s brilliant to read this has helped you realise there are others ways of shifting your weight in the golf swing, a method which solely helps you finish your swing on the front foot as opposed to the back foot. It’s also great to read you’ve already noticed improvements trying this in your net at home. Love this lesson! One question is are you suggesting that when you first take a backswing and extend up, you begin the back leg pressure by dropping after that first extended move? Or can you combine the backswing and extension move along with the pressure on back foot move all at once ? I suspect you can’t since you want the extension to happen first before you drop and put pressure on that back leg, but I wanted to be sure that it’s not okay to turn while back swinging and keep the trail knee flexed? I assume you want that trail knee to extend up just before it’s fully straightened with a little flex and then push down before ultimately pushing back up and off it again?

    • @harryshawgolf
      @harryshawgolf  Месяц назад +1

      Hi Mitch, thanks for a very interesting question, it's always good to make sure you are on the right track so pleased you've reached out with this. so with regards to the squat, you don't really need o worry too muhc about getting the legs extended during the downswing (stage three) when we push back up simply because you're aiming to push up from the ground. And on the way back, the trail leg will naturally be less flexed (more extended) becuase w're rotating and tiling into the top of the swing. I hope i've been able to answer your question here. If not please let me know. Thanks!

    This has been probably my greatest issue. I'm very new to golf starting very late in life. I'm a fairly strong guy played rugby and when I think of shifting my weight I think of exploding off of the balls of my feet and this is causing all kinds of problems. Early extension, sway and an inexplicable loss of power.

    For the driver is there modifications in order to hit up

    • @harryshawgolf
      @harryshawgolf  7 месяцев назад

      Good question, apart from changing the basics from irons to driver such as ball position, wider stance, club a littler further away. Nothing, the only thing I was add to this is the amount your press and push on stages 2 and 3 as you’re aiming to hit slightly more up on the golf ball. If you stay low, you won’t get the upward motion as much.

  • @vrganesh7547

    When I first saw the video I thought this made perfect sense but when I tried doing it..this move is not for me. I am so focused on getting my left shoulder and left knee towards the ball on my back swing (started working on this a year ago) and then driving my right knee towards the ball and straightening the left knee. Your video wants me to push off the trail foot when my trail knee is actually moving towards the ball..not happening for me. I have watched all the tour players in slow motion on my TV countless times and for most of them I see the right knee bending and moving towards the left knee (the Faldo move).

      Hi thanks for commenting and i'm pleased to read you've give this a try and found that this isn't for you, we are all different, different swings, mobility and flexibility levels are different and if you have good flexibility and mobility, you'll find the left hip firing through to target will work better for you. Why I feel this might prone to early extension

    • @harryshawgolf
      @harryshawgolf  7 месяцев назад

      Not if your get the trail foot pushing the pressure through from phase 2 to phase 3 of this method of shifting your weight. If you press on the leas foot (leaning into it) you’re way more likely to early extension and when we press and then get this opposite reaction it’s forcing up backwards and upwards (extension).
