Nice to see how motivated he still is to windsurf and play with gear. I sailed in the bay of El Medano last week and got to try the Happy 95 in combination with a 4.2 Blade (rental from TWS). I'm not a skilled wave-sailor, more a 'freerider in the waves' and was a bit out of my comfort zone with the strong wind (I rarely sail smaller than a 5.3 at home). The Happy is a bit shorter and wider than most wave-boards with the same volume. I liked how easy it was to get planing and stay planing through lulls, but not so much how easy the fins lost their grip. I was basically sideways 2 or 3 times on every run, even when fully planing. Being used to larger gear with single fins, I'm probably guilty of putting too much pressure on the back foot, but to my opinion part of the design-brief of a freewave-board is that it should be a bit forgiving to rider error. By comparison, I found the Fanatic Freewave 85 and Goya One 85 much easier to keep on track. I think I would be happy with the Happy if it had a 2 or 3 cm larger centerfin.
