I love your lemon bars story and laughed several times. When I was three I loved mayonnaise, (gross). One day when mom wasn't looking I put a lot on a burger, ran outside, took a bite, felt sick, tossed the burger into the flowers and threw up. My mom found it later and knew who did it. But we never talked about it. Nobody likes to talk about eating lots of mayonnaise. It's too gross to think about.

gnuism the issue with that sometimes is that you put the pans into the oven and if you use water you will cause steam to be created. It depends on how much water you use and what you are making, but hat steam could mess up some recipes when baking.

Try holding the lemon in your left hand and rubbing the microplane (rough side down) over the lemon. You don't have to keep stopping to look where you are on the lemon, and the zest collects in the hollow side of the microplane instead of scattering across the bowl and bench

Wesley...go buy yourself some Non Stick Foil! It is AMAZING! I love parchment, but for situations like this the non stick foil is best...much easier to form into your pan. Can't wait to try the lemon bars...THANKS!
***I put foil in my pan and then I do the parchment - if I am going to cut it to the pan, If also have put a bit of water in the pan and push down the parchment. You can also just spray the pan and drips come off easier. These look great we are trying them this wk end.

Wesley, just took my lemon bars out of the oven. Thank you for the video. I started my Keto in January I am 53 grandmother of three, I weighed in at 199 I am now 132. I feel great so many health improvements since Keto. With the holidays coming I wonder if you could do some keto holiday dishes. Maybe a stuffing replacement Keto turkey gravy ect. I made the heyketomama lemon bars for staff and it was a HIT!!! My staff loved them. I cut them super small so friends could just pick up a small piece without too much commitment, and some just wanted a taste. Sooooo good. People took some home to their Keto husbands. Thank you, Wes!!

I've been making lemon bars for decades. I've adapted my recipe with just substitutions. They don't use melted butter, and only 2 eggs, 3TBSP lemon juice (1 lemon), a 9x9 pan. And they don't need to be refrigerated. I will try adding another egg.

Like an almond flour vs Miracle flour biscuit, dinner roll, pizza crust or whatever your little heart desires. Ooo or maybe cinnamon roll? I LOVE pumpkin spice anything, including candles, etc. Or at least I thought so. I just got my Grove shipment and ordered the Mrs Meyers All Purpose Cleaner in the Pumpkin Spice scent. It’s horrendously nasty! They need to rename it Burnt Pumpkin Rinds. 🤢 just awful.

Great question! I’m not a doctor nor a nutritionist, so this isn’t medical advice and no one should take it as such. Just sharing my opinion. Based on the thorough explanations from professionals I trust, I’m not too worried. It was a study of only 8 people. The American Council on Science and Health has debunked the study and given a great explanation as to why. I’ll link the info below. (What I also found interesting when I started using erythritol years ago, I did a little bit of research and was surprised to learn that erythritol occurs naturally in the human body. Even in people that have never consumed it.) From Wikipedia with associated references: “Erythritol occurs naturally in some fruit and fermented foods. It also occurs in human body fluids, such as eye lens tissue, serum, plasma, fetal fluid, and urine.” So, in all honesty, the correct thing for me to say is that I have neither the expertise nor knowledge sufficient to advise anyone and I encourage you to speak to your doctor about it. (And, I actually did. Both my general practitioner and my cardiologist. Hilarious! I'm a new viewer. I've been diving into making my own desserts since store bought options are expensive and still loaded with strange ingredients. Your taste tasting makes me laugh. So many people tasting their desserts have rehearsed faces. I love your reactions. I made these a few days ago. Both recipes. Absolutely delicious. One was much more lemony (heyketomoma) which I loved. The other was yummy and the crust was thicker.

How do you choose who has the best recipes for your videos? A lot of the recipes you choose seem to come from somewhat unknown websites, to me anyhow. I can think of a lot more popular keto recipe websites. Just wondering. 🙂
I search by number of positive reviews. Google searches show aggregate recipe reviews based on multiple blogging systems. I usually select the ones with the highest number of positive reviews. Glad to take suggestions.... whatcha got? What recipe would you have selected for this particular battle?

@@aztonyusa I would be interested to hear from those who tried out the KetoConnect recipe, as to how they liked it. For me, it was not a hit- they used gelatin in the recipe (I believe, it has been a while) and the texture was off-putting to me.

Wes, my hubby and I watched this while fixing breakfast this fine Labor Day and just busted out in laughter over the "whole pan incident" years ago! That is EXACTLY what I would have done...which I unfortunately didn't ever get sick off of but years ago, two of my kids at the ages of 11 & 13 (they were high ADHD)snuck into my mother in laws storage and ate literally 2 SHELVES OF CANDY, which she kept stocked and stored for all grandkids. Talk about sick...Holy canoli...they threw up all over "grandmas" bathroom and my hubby had to clean up (I totally could'nt help or we would have had to clean up even more!)...oh it was memorable...we still laugh and give them crap about it, some 15yrs later. Thanks for this battle and sharing a fabulous food memory...keep'em coming! My hubby and are excited to try...this dessert is one of our favorites!!!

Wes, grease the pan before you line it so the parchment paper will adhere to it. Then you won’t have to fight so much. 😊
You can also just slightly wet the tin with a bit of water to help the parchment paper stick to it 😊
Or use nonstick Reynolds Wrap!

Wesley, just took my lemon bars out of the oven. Thank you for the video. I started my Keto in January I am 53 grandmother of three, I weighed in at 199 I am now 132. I feel great so many health improvements since Keto.
With the holidays coming I wonder if you could do some keto holiday dishes. Maybe a stuffing replacement Keto turkey gravy ect.

I made the heyketomama lemon bars for staff and it was a HIT!!! My staff loved them. I cut them super small so friends could just pick up a small piece without too much commitment, and some just wanted a taste. Sooooo good. People took some home to their Keto husbands. Thank you, Wes!!

I've been making lemon bars for decades. I've adapted my recipe with just substitutions. They don't use melted butter, and only 2 eggs, 3TBSP lemon juice (1 lemon), a 9x9 pan. And they don't need to be refrigerated. I will try adding another egg.

There's a lot of controversy right now about Erythritol. What's your take about whether this is a healthy option?
Great question! I’m not a doctor nor a nutritionist, so this isn’t medical advice and no one should take it as such. Just sharing my opinion. Based on the thorough explanations from professionals I trust, I’m not too worried. It was a study of only 8 people. The American Council on Science and Health has debunked the study and given a great explanation as to why. I’ll link the info below.
(What I also found interesting when I started using erythritol years ago, I did a little bit of research and was surprised to learn that erythritol occurs naturally in the human body. Even in people that have never consumed it.) From Wikipedia with associated references: “Erythritol occurs naturally in some fruit and fermented foods. It also occurs in human body fluids, such as eye lens tissue, serum, plasma, fetal fluid, and urine.”
So, in all honesty, the correct thing for me to say is that I have neither the expertise nor knowledge sufficient to advise anyone and I encourage you to speak to your doctor about it. (And, I actually did. Both my general practitioner and my cardiologist. Their advice to me was: “in moderation, like most everything.”)

pizza slicer works grt to cut that just roll it on , I use it for cutting sadwiches and ect too
You save people a lot of grief by doing this. I've used both coconut and almond. I also use Xantham gum to help hold it together. I'll try both of these thanks!

Hilarious! I'm a new viewer. I've been diving into making my own desserts since store bought options are expensive and still loaded with strange ingredients. Your taste tasting makes me laugh. So many people tasting their desserts have rehearsed faces. I love your reactions. Can't wait to try some of your recipes as I've been struggling to find ones I enjoy because I have to make so darn many. Doesn't help when trying to only have small indulgences. This is good you can make lime, or any citrus! Take a tsp erythritol powder sugar and a bit of your citrus juice, drizzle on.
The second one would be my favorite. I like more crust to counter the lemon tang, and it looks and holds more like a bar than the other.
I made these a few days ago. Both recipes. Absolutely delicious. One was much more lemony (heyketomoma) which I loved. The other was yummy and the crust was thicker.

How do you choose who has the best recipes for your videos? A lot of the recipes you choose seem to come from somewhat unknown websites, to me anyhow. I can think of a lot more popular keto recipe websites. Just wondering. 🙂
I search by number of positive reviews. Google searches show aggregate recipe reviews based on multiple blogging systems. I usually select the ones with the highest number of positive reviews. Glad to take suggestions.... whatcha got? What recipe would you have selected for this particular battle?

Someone like keto connect has a lemon bar recipe, alldayIdreamaboutfood.com, those are where I get a lot of recipes from. I'll be making one of these lemon bar recipes for sure. @@aztonyusa I would be interested to hear from those who tried out the KetoConnect recipe, as to how they liked it. For me, it was not a hit- they used gelatin in the recipe (I believe, it has been a while) and the texture was off-putting to me.

Wes, my hubby and I watched this while fixing breakfast this fine Labor Day and just busted out in laughter over the "whole pan incident" years ago! That is EXACTLY what I would have done...which I unfortunately didn't ever get sick off of but years ago, two of my kids at the ages of 11 & 13 (they were high ADHD)snuck into my mother in laws storage and ate literally 2 SHELVES OF CANDY, which she kept stocked and stored for all grandkids. Talk about sick...Holy canoli...they threw up all over "grandmas" bathroom and my hubby had to clean up (I totally could'nt help or we would have had to clean up even more!)...oh it was memorable...we still laugh and give them crap about it, some 15yrs later. Thanks for this battle and sharing a fabulous food memory...keep'em coming! My hubby and are excited to try...this dessert is one of our favorites!!!
