It's always exciting to see the first bloom even if it's not the rose you thought it was. I've had plants from the garden centre that have had their labels mixed up. Bit annoying especially if I've been planting a container with a specific colour scheme. I know it's not, but your picture looks like a Dianthus. It is a very pretty rose whatever it is. Hi Wendy. Looking at the varieties T&M sell, I think it's probably "For Your Eyes Only" - which I have already, but it doesn't look quite the same (yet). The only other option is "Sheila's Perfume", but that is unlikely unless later flowers are very different. It wasn't that I was desperate to have a "It's a wonderful life" I was just curious and wanted to try it. It was part of a special deal, so cheaper than usual. And I quite like my "For Your Eyes Only" if that's what it is. For those reasons, I'm not too miffed. Besides, it is my first rose of the season, so that works in its favour. I hope you are enjoying the same sun as we are - perfect gardening (or relaxing) weather.
I think it's "For Your Eyes Only". Since I like that rose, and this was half-price in a special offer, and it was bought on a whim and not because I desperately wanted it, I'll just keep it and not complain. And it did make the effort to flower early, so it deserves some respect! Hope you are enjoying the sun we have here over there.
