I will second that, god bless Andrew gold ''an absolutely phenomenal musician ,you could say what could this man not play in instruments or even do ,a wonderful super extraordinary musician, this man absolutely deserved more recognition for his gigantic talent, especially in this false manufactured world of xfactor,Britain's got talent etc '',what bollocks,''and these silly sods believe themselves with botox, lipstick etc manufactured crap, , people like this man, including Beatles stones,Clapton fairweather low,etc deserve the recognition, god bless Andrew and his family, thank you for your music and for being my friend, I enjoyed and still do your wonderful music
I was in 5th. It was my favorite song. I would have my tape recorder set up by the radio so that every time the station played it, I would record it. As a deep empath, my 10-year-old soul felt all the nuances of emotion. I could comprehend thus was simply about feeling displaced when a new babe enters the family… but… it was so much more far-reaching. I could feel the internalized plight and bewildered loss. Now, I also understood it was a story about a boy, not necessarily some autobiographical confession. But it was art, spilling some relatable, transparent, moment we all somehow comnect with. It is still one of my favorite songs of a time. Thank you, Andrew. Rest In Peace.
Good guy, great musician. I wonder how long it took him to work out the rhythm between the vocal and the opening piano riff. Guys like him don't come around very often, rest in peace.
Heard this on the local UK radio this morning and have just sought it out live on YT. What a brilliant song on record and here in live performance. Genius.
This was just fantastic! Loved seeing the older, yet forever boyish Andrew Gold. Ashamed to say that even though I had probably heard him untold times throughout my life (I was born in 1957!), I had never heard OF him until last year. The documentary on Linda Ronstadt released last September launched me on a nostalgic journey into the music of my era that I only casually enjoyed back in the day. Bought the greatest hits albums and sang along to the Billboard chart toppers as I cruised around town in my parents' green Chevy Impala. Didn't go to concerts or read the liner notes. With Ms. Ronstadt's memoir in one hand and my cell phone in the other, have watched about every RUclips video on her that was available. I soon became accustomed to seeing Ms. Ronstadt bookended by Andrew Gold and Kenny Edwards. Although Ms. Ronstadt's enormous talent as a singer had already established her as a real presence in the music world of the late 60's/ early 70's, and her constant touring certainly helped her hone her singing skills and develop her ability to communicate with her band, I think it was the extraordinary talent of Andrew Gold as a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter coupled with the savvy and thoughtful management of Peter Asher that provided Ms. Ronstadt with the collaborators she needed to see her gift come to full flower in "Heart Like a Wheel" and subsequent albums. My RUclips searches now include Andrew Gold; a CD of one of his live performances was recently purchased and enjoyed. My only critique of the wonderful documentary about Ms. Ronstadt's illustrious career was the omission of a mention of Andrew Gold and his contribution to her phenomenal success in the 70's. Had he lived, he would've been one of the "talking heads" in the film singing her praises. My consolation is I now have "the sound of his voice" to keep me company for the rest of my life.
@@bsquared4604 Definitely seen in the film. I really think it was an oversight as Ms. Ronstadt is notoriously humble about her talent and profuse in her praise of her fellow artists and musicians.
@@bsquared4604 Just enjoyed listening to this on Halloween. Linda and Stephen Bishop do back-up vocals on the second track, Monster Mash. So fun. ruclips.net/video/IroKmKxVjPE/видео.html
Great song and great musician! I just have ordered on of his cd's. This song never gets boring. i really miss the 70s and 80s..:-(. Thnx to load up this nice video!
Beautiful DVD and CD. All the singers were in top form yet I noticed the weight that Andrew had gained probably from all of the meds he was taking. RIP Andrew!
Had tickets for Wax in Bristol 1997 arrived at the hall and the concert had just been cancelled. Never had a chance to catch Andrew Gold again, such a talent, what more can you say!!
Great performance of this song. I like the explosive dynamic changes from soft to loud though they did not seem to be as dramatic as in the original recording.
This song is behold groove . The players and time this was written . Musicians thought about. What other musicians would think . New song writers . Are missing the chance to strive to get better!
I don't know if he may have been still playing guitar for Linda Ronstadt in her 1977 Blue Bayou Tour . I went to it at the Superdome...I think it was in August or October 1977...the warm-up acts were Stephen Bishop (he opened with 'Save it for a Rainy Day') and Willie Nelson (that was the third time I saw him as a warmup act..another time was Kenny Rogers at the Dome in 1984, on a Sunday night in October when the Saints and Kenny Stabler blew a 3-touchown lead in Dallas to lose in OT 30-27..the last two Dallas TD's on consecutive sack-fumbles in the endzone... Stabler rented a car at the Dallas airport and drove home to Gulf Shores in an immediate re-retirement...
I always loved the original version so for the few who said that this one was either fantastic or powerful listen to that one and you'll quickly forget all about this one. As for this recording it was somewhat okay for a while until the guitar player completely blew and ruined the solo. The original version with guitarist Waddy Wachtel was the very best!
This was a great song, well written and recorded….BUT….I have zero respect for these hired hun guitar players who cannot be bothered to learn a solo the right way!!! If they pay you to play it, play it right!!!!!!
Andrew Gold you are still Gold. RIP. Mate
Thank you, Andrew Gold. God bless you.
Thanks for making our world's a lil brighter Andrew. You're last name says it all bout you my brother. Sleep well.
he music was great better than todays music R.I.P Andrew
This song deserved to be a number one hit in 1977. Instead it peaked at number seven. I bought the 45 when it came out.
Gone way to soon . Rest In Peace Andrew ........!

What a great song, what a great performer and a great performance. Could not ask for anything better than this. RIP Andrew Gold, love it!
No greater legacy to leave in life than a great song.
What a great voice. RIP AG.
My favourite song ever. I just wish I could listen to it without crying just the once...
Mr. Gold, Great song sir ! I remember back in 1976 when I was in 7th grade it was one of my favorites ! 🎉🎉❤😊.
What a great decade for music what a talent mr gold was. R.I.P.

God Dammit, this song is POWERFUL.... brings tears to my eyes. Bullied way too much as a kid, I too had to learn how to fight
I'm with you..... But I'm sure you're that much stronger for it
@@wildbillstanton Yes, I like to think so
You're just wearing your emotions on your sleeve, your just wired that way
Glad you stood up for yourself way to go
You brought Heaven to Earth...may Love and Light find you there now! Love your music ! Your brief light continues to shine on us here!
So lovingly respectfully worded on a very underated uniquely talented artist x

So true about how challenging the competing vocal and piano rhythms are.
Heard this on the local UK radio this morning and have just sought it out live on YT. What a brilliant song on record and here in live performance. Genius.
man what a talent, gone too soon. RIP Andrew.

Great song. R.I.P., Andy.
I always had a crush on him, and came to hope that my soul mate would be just like him. RIP.
Original drummer with kimono. Amazing and holds the whole thing together.
The dude did some quality work in this slice...great drummer....
he was great
world class!!!!!
Fantastic song. So nostalgic
Both his parents were great musicians!

Beautiful!!! Remember this one!!!
Brilliant.
Andrew Gold produced America's Christmas album. Check it out it's called Holiday Harmony
I always thought the lyrics were strange, but the music is so good!
Not strange at all.
SO BEAUTIFUL
Such great memories

Praiseworthy...still.
Andrew Gold's autobiographical song. Born August 02, 1951.
Not so. His childhood was actually the opposite. Great tune though, and he was one of my 70's musical heroes.
He said this song wasn't autobiographical
Only the good die young.
Is there a Maggie here? You? Are you Maggie?
Who is that drummer...phenomenal
I get it sis.🤐😎
"10"
Originally linda rondstat did backup

A similar voice to Dean friedman. (Lucky stars)
I wonder if Chapin's CAT IN THE CRADLE influenced this song's birth.
Several years before he died
If this were shot in 2006, it would have been five years before he died
It must have really pissed him off, not being the centre of the universe🥺
To think, 10CC (Gouldman and Stewart) invited him to join the band.
Bad genetics and bad luck... Maybe some naughtiness too, RIP Andrew Gold.
I got spanked.🎯😎
Great song but the lead guitar hosed his solo.

He's not trying to be Waddy Wachtell. Nor should he be. It's still an amazing version
The only way I'd expect the guitar solo to be identical to that on the recording is if it's the same person playing it.
The Ventura Theatre is a dump.
