Some plants you can propagate from a leaf or stem cutting, the peace lily is not one of them. You have to separate by it’s sections (bunches). And once you separate you can plop that baby right into your houseplant soil mix! I am growing my peace lily in water. It has a bit of root rot so while I’ve been getting all soil removed from the roots, I had it soaked in water with 3% hydrogen peroxide to kill of any bacteria. Since she’ll live in water now, I’ll change water weekly and provide a liquid fertilizer once a month.
I watch because I like plants. My nearly 40 year old aloe vera plant is now in three seperate pots. IT KEEPS MAKING BABIES. They just don't stop making children ever do they?
YES Krystal, I've done this and now have two Peace Lillys now, but I'm dying to grow one in water but it never works out for me!! I will try your tips and hopefully it works!! But as far as fertilizer, do you add it to the water and soak say for half an hour or so, or do you leave it in fertilizer water til the next water changing?❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼
ahh thanks so much for this timely story! I'm just about ready to tackle my struggling (but growing) peace lily that I rescued a couple years ago and this is super helpful. While it IS growing, leaves are just as quickly turning brown. It's still in a very large pot so I will definitely be downsizing it and maybe doing water for any who's roots look rotted. ♥ ✌
When I found out my peace lily had ROOT ROT🖐️ I found a vid of yours to put it in water…let me say that, THAT WORKS👏 My peace lily started putting new leaves after a week! Thank you girllll❤️
I’ve had the same Peace Lily for the last 6 years. She’s my only plant right now (I have no money and chronic depression, oof) but she’s seen some shit, and has been so important to me I can’t really describe it. Love my Lily. Named her Isabel after my great grandmother. I only met her a few times, bet she was amazing from what I remember
Great Story. I have had my Peace Lilly for 12 Years. I got it when my Mother in past. I am going to add a new peace lilly to it bc it need to be a bit more Fuller. So I bought one and I am going to add it to it. Let's see how it does.😊
I have a peace lily named Fred and he was not looking good before i got him. Fast forward to now, he has 3 blooms and is doing amazing! I love him with all my heart.
Perfect timing! My peace lily is starting to grow really big and I didn't want to go with an even bigger pot 😅 just as I was wondering how to do so, I see your video/short! Thank you!
Mine is just in a lot that I mist with water once per day with a decent water once per week. She’s getting so big my mom calls her Seymour over FaceTime lol
Thanks for the info. I have had my Peace Lilly for 12 Years. I got it when my Mother in past. I am going to add a new peace lilly to it bc it need to be a bit more Fuller. So I bought one and I am going to add it to it. Let's see how it does.😊
I did this the other day with my mum's. I repotted it from a pot with no drainage to a nursery pot, and while untangling the roots one of the offshoots just kinda fell off. And well it had roots, sooo its mine now
Thanks. I have a piece I cut from a bigger plant last August. It's growing sooo slowly. I will move to water. It's growing at a snails pace in soil. Thank you.
can you send this to my mom so we can give hers some relief? its getting soooo dense, literally every bit of soil has a stem coming out. hasn't bloomed a flower, only leaves, ever since I can remember for like 15 yrs
Hi Krystal, my mom overwatered a peace lily, plus it was repotted in a way too large container. Almost no root development at all. This, plus too much water caused it to get root rot. I trimmed the rotted roots and transferred into a container with tap water (I figured it would be better instead of soil), is this ok? I’m sure it’s not 😂 should I repot it in soil instead of water? I don’t have any hydrogen peroxide on hand to disinfect the roots which are barely there, honestly 😖 I really want to save it 😔
I have a question; what’s the best way to go about propagating a monsters in water? I fear mine is dying so I wanna salvage what I can and put it in water but like…do I just plop it in a vase? 😭
what's it dying from? if it's root rot from over watering - dig it up, look at the roots, are they mushy and gross? - you'll want to cut at the nodes and discard the dying bits. you can look up what the nodes are online lol
I am desperately trying to save my peace lilly from a serious case of root rot. Im losing the battle honestly. I have had her for 6 or 7 years. My heart is breaking as i watch her slowly die... She was a gift from my sister and my favorite plant!! I shouldnt have repotted her... Ugh!!
Ooo thank you! My sister gave me her yellow wilting peace lily after my cat died. She’s been thriving with me ever since but I’ve noticed some new baby leaves popping up and kind of crowding the pot.
I learn so much from you about plants I don't even own, but I've applied some of the knowledge to my current plants like dealing with root rott. I managed to save three baby aloe vera's from one of our three parent plant aloe vera colonies. They are thriving and our Aloe Veras are starting to flower now that we've been regularly decrowding the adults.
I inherited my peace lily. It used to be full, bait and putting out flowers every week. Now it's thin and unhappy. I've tried repotting, watering less, watering more. Nothing seems to make it happy anymore. 😔
Can you show us how to propagate mother of millions… I have 2 plants and they both just have one long stem that’s all… it doesn’t have the “millions” part to it because I think I’m just a bad plant mom…😅
i got my first peace lily and am excitedly waiting for its bloom!! i didn’t even know i could propagate her 🤩 but somehow whenever i plant in water my plants rot even when i change it multiple times a week :(
i had a similar problem with my monstera, it can sometimes be due to a moisture imbalance in the soil, stress or root space (as in it needs repotted or has too much space)
Oh if I only knew this earlier 🥹 i have a question : How to take care of a propagated leaf, stem etc? They always "rot" on me even though I seem to do everything right (clearly not) even after planting 😢
What do I do when my four year old has went to town on my peace lily (pearl) she’s still hanging in there but my God I am not sure what to do with the one broken beside throw away bc they have no root on it. 😢
I always killed peace Lily's but ever since I've switch my huge one to water, its thriving. I rarely give it nutrients either, it loves shade and water
I wonder if anyone can help. I have a beautiful peace lily and recently adopted a cat. I believe lilies are poison to cats, is there anything I can do to keep her away from it? Edit: it’s currently in a closed off room but it won’t thrive in there
if you can’t put it up on a windowsill or table etc. in a suitable place try a green mesh sheet ! i personally don’t have a problem with my cat trying to eat my houseplants but i did have a problem with birds outside trying to eat my strawberries. the mesh will look nearly invisible and your cat shouldn’t be able to reach any of the leaves. you could also try putting up a catnip plant to distract your cat from the more toxic plants ^^
How do you fix a cat attack on a peace Lily? Yes I’m aware their supposedly toxic to cats, but this plant has made it through 10 cats and none have gotten sick (knock on wood)
I wonder why they like them though, the only plants my youngest cat chews on is our Ponytail Palm that I named Todd Howard. Our solution was to put it in a tall plant stand and keep furniture that he could use to climb away from the stand. But as far as I know giving a plant love and attention while figuring out how to keep the cats off it is probably best. I don't own peace lillies though.
@@Dr.RatioSnail My thoughts since it’s only kittens who mess with it, and don’t eat it, but just rip it to shreds and play in the dirt. Is because the leaves are so bouncy, they go past it and all the leaves move and sway, or if the ceiling fan is on, the leaves move like crazy. The only other plants in my house are aloe and they seem pretty bored with those lol. I think I’ll get a closing glass shelf to put it in. At the least until the kittens are older and stay out of it. My two oldest cats don’t even bother. Thank you for the tips
Omg I just did this and the main plant split down the middle of the bulb? Or what ever you call it 😂 now I got a small peace Lilly and a big dead one 🤣
Some plants you can propagate from a leaf or stem cutting, the peace lily is not one of them. You have to separate by it’s sections (bunches).

@PlantswithKrystal Kohls has 2 super cute Cactus planters! just keyword cactus planter at the site.

Thanks! I just bought my first peace lily last week. 😆
You posted this at EXACTLY the right time. My Gary (massive peace lily) has been getting out of hand.
she’s a plant psychic - she recently saved my spider plants from under watering with a well timed short!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Only a plant lover can feel n understand these things 😍
those were some satisfying snaps
Ooooh a variegated peace Lily 💕
When I found out my peace lily had ROOT ROT🖐️ I found a vid of yours to put it in water…let me say that, THAT WORKS👏 My peace lily started putting new leaves after a week! Thank you girllll❤️
I bet your peace lily will look amazing now that it's bouncing back from that.
mine just died anyways😂
Will peace Lilly grow in water?

I've put all my Alocasia in water and they're finely thriving 💜 I love having certain plants in water
Mine is just in a lot that I mist with water once per day with a decent water once per week. She’s getting so big my mom calls her Seymour over FaceTime lol
Love it 👏👏👏
I am not sure if you have already done this but you should totally to a video of how to make your plant soil you use or what kind of soil you buy!
As a fellow Hoosier/ plant lover - I notice you also have great taste in music! Keep doing your thing boo!
my peace lily finally got a bloom about a month ago and yesterday i was looking at it and she had ANOTHER baby bloom!! happy plant mom moment 😂
Thanks for the info.

That's really easy thank you 😊
Divide and conquer 🦹🏼♂️
Cool!!!!!!!
You’re so prettyyyyy
THANKS
Bless you.
Can you make a video about propagating calatheas and alocasias?
How do you give your water living plants food and nutrients? You're awesome btw!
People use liquid fertilizer
❤❤
If you have the plant in soil currently do you need to pull the whole plant out and or is there a way separate them without disturbing the main plant
Only put in water or with fertilizer?
Can we keep peace lily in water for long?
I just stole some bunches off the big peace at my office. Although a I had already planned to take some, I thought about this vid when I took them lol
can you send this to my mom so we can give hers some relief?
its getting soooo dense, literally every bit of soil has a stem coming out. hasn't bloomed a flower, only leaves, ever since I can remember for like 15 yrs

We have a peace lily we're trying to save from root rot. Very stringy roots. Should we put peroxide on it and keep it in soil or water?
How can you tell when it needs to be separated?
Will it bloom in water?
Do u find it better to let them live in water?
YAY❤❤❤ I did it right!!
I am desperately trying to save my peace lilly from a serious case of root rot. Im losing the battle honestly. I have had her for 6 or 7 years. My heart is breaking as i watch her slowly die... She was a gift from my sister and my favorite plant!! I shouldnt have repotted her... Ugh!!

My plant has lots of brown hard dead stem bits in the very center. Should I leave them or try to take them out? 💚
can i ask what type of plant it is ? does it happen to be a fern by chance ?

How to make them bloom?
Can I know why my spathiphyllum plant wilts after being moved from soil to water?😢😢😢😢
I just finished mine a few days ago already have New shoots
I inherited my peace lily. It used to be full, bait and putting out flowers every week. Now it's thin and unhappy. I've tried repotting, watering less, watering more. Nothing seems to make it happy anymore. 😔
Happy* not bait. Auto correct
What about the little seeds that fall of the blooms ???????
I'm trying really hard to keep my mom's peace lilly alive from her funeral recently....I've never cared for a plant.
Can you show us how to propagate mother of millions…

i didnt know u could grow them in water too. ...mine is have an off day . I'm gonna try this put her in the water
But will it flower in water
Hi
My peace Lily is not blooming, what to do please help me 😊
i got my first peace lily and am excitedly waiting for its bloom!! i didn’t even know i could propagate her 🤩 but somehow whenever i plant in water my plants rot even when i change it multiple times a week :(
this means you are putting it too low in the water you have to raise it up
idk why mine doesn't give any flower but just leafs ... i need help please
My peace lily has every new leaf turning brown, from a beautiful green start. N/S light, misting & watering every other day. Any help?
i had a similar problem with my monstera, it can sometimes be due to a moisture imbalance in the soil, stress or root space (as in it needs repotted or has too much space)
Ohhhhhh peace lily on water. Is that a hydroponic peace lilies?
Oh if I only knew this earlier 🥹 i have a question : How to take care of a propagated leaf, stem etc? They always "rot" on me even though I seem to do everything right (clearly not) even after planting 😢

Do you have any bamboo?
What do I do when my four year old has went to town on my peace lily (pearl) she’s still hanging in there but my God I am not sure what to do with the one broken beside throw away bc they have no root on it. 😢
my mom and I call them “kids” because they grow from their mom
That snap be like celery 😅
Is it the same for an Asiatic Lily? 😢 please help
my peace lily grows very slow and also i have kept it in shade despite that the leaves tips have dried out and burnt
Are you watering it enough? They're very sensitive to drying out.
I miss your videos, where have you been??
I recently got a plant and it’s supposed to get big I think…it shouldn’t be hard to care for but I’m scared 😭
I’m noticing that LED lights will lead to larger leaves. 😊
I always killed peace Lily's but ever since I've switch my huge one to water, its thriving. I rarely give it nutrients either, it loves shade and water

You favor Harli G.
I would have not been able to break it apart. It looked like a lil baby with two arms
OUCH!
Nooooo noo, I’m scared 😳
It’s like a banana or an agave
