Good thing you've sorted it. One of my roses does this every spring. Its planted close to a wall and the concrete leaches lime (alkaline) which reduces the availabilty of Iron in the soil. I add sequetsred iron every spring but I sometimes forget and I'm duly reminded by the chlorotic new growth. I love trouble shooting in the garden ☺.

I planted 5 kanzan cherry trees and a ginkgo on a piece of land I have up on the mountains (700 m height) .This was beginning of March and straight away I started the procedure of applying for a tap as my land has nothing except for those young trees.
I have wasted a whole month , trying to contact mechanic engineers, two so far. They answer their phones only in the beginning.
Anyway,I found two young wonderful guys who are working on it.
At the moment because we've had hardly any rain in the winter, I have to carry from my car 6 plastic bottles of 5l each with a bad back to water the trees. The gingko has got leaves now.The other 5 trees have buds, lots of buds.
The place is paradise, full of bloomed judas trees ,wild quince and lots of cultivated cherry trees all in bloom. But my God , never consider building a house in Greece. The bureaucracy and bribing are unbelievable.

@@cottoverdi Noone is working on it.
The thing is that I found out that although I inherited the land from my father some years ago, because the path leading to it and the land itself was full of bramble we didn't put it in the register office as we were supposed to because we couldn't measure it. Getting a bulldozer would cost us 3.000 euros.
Now, 2 months after I had planted the trees, I found out (the bulldozer eventually had it cleared up) that it has become forest area and I am not allowed to have tap water. Crazy!!

@cottoverdi Nobody lives in that village anymore. My dad's family used to live there. Now it is like a ghost village but it is so clean, the oxygen. You should see the turquoise sky touching the mountains.
I am poor, I don't have the money to take my case to the court.
Today Tuesday, I found out my land is ΔΔ , it means forest area. It has been forest are for years and most likely even my dad didn't know that when he bequeathed it to me. The notary said this morning that only if I had a contract of my land before the year 1900, only then I could use a lawyer and claim it.
When I told the notary that I even planted those trees , he bit his lips, meaning I shouldn't have done it.
      Oh, well.

Hi Annette, Sometimes there just aren't enough hours in the day for us gardeners especially as we're all trying to catch up with things after all the rainy days we've had. Thank you for your honesty about the sprayer. The number of times I've bought things that look good only to use them and then find that they're been disappointing.

Hi Annette! It seems to me that potassium phosphite is not enough to feed roses during this period; I would add nitrogen in the form of calcium nitrate or a complex fertilizer with NPK 16-16-16 (plus microelements); in my experience, such chlorosis on the leaves is due to a lack of nitrogen. Your three roses are absolutely stunning! My James Galway has not yet grown above 2 meters in our climate and in our zone 4-5 (Russia, Moscow)

Your climbing roses are absolutely beautiful already, I bought a James Galway to plant this year on the side of my house. I hope it will look half as beautiful as yours. I am excited to plant more roses but at the same time it scares me that I might end up killing them. I have used old cow manure and eelgrass so I hope that will keep them happy. Thanks Annette for an informative video.

Great video as always. I mulch my roses with well rotted horse manure in March, and then have got some chicken manure pellets to put on after the first flush. I hope it will make them flush more than they did last summer. They were so dissapointing and so i'm hoping feeding more could be the answer

I’m having similar issues with my standard Rold Dahal , Annette. They look really pale and have a yellow tinge to them (it doesn’t look like chlorosis, though, as the veins appear normal). I only got them last year,so couldn’t quite remember if they were actually this colour normally when flushing out or if it’s just a sign that they’re not happy. I’m worried as I bought nine Rold Dahal standards, so, quite an expensive buy and I will be gutted if they die. I did feed them about a week ago with Top Rose, but perhaps I ought to give them a foliar spray as well. Think I might contact David Austin and email them some pictures and see what they think. Wish me luck 😘

Hi Annette, loved the video, thank you for sharing. Do you have to follow up with a slow release rose food as well as foliar fertiliser spray in the UK? Where I live in Aus our rainfall is so great that just a liquid feed will leach out of the soil quickly, great for the quick dose but we have to use a slow release fertiliser as well. Andrea

    • @cottoverdi
      @cottoverdi  3 месяца назад +1

Hi Andrea, thank you. Yes, I feed my roses all summer long - I just love them so much that I want to get the most out of them so I probably feed every 2 weeks if time allows. - And, yes, it depends how much rain we have too.
