I'm learning a lot from how you play your garden. I've been wondering about the grass border, so I'm glad to hear you'll be providing an update soon.

Love watching your videos Annette. I’ve been going through your playlist for information on some seeds I just ordered. 😂 you are my first stop for inspiration and information now ❤

Hi Annette, your garden is coming along nicely and very inspiring for me. I planted a feather grass in a pot some years ago and it has self-seeded everywhere in my gravel garden. I've 'allowed' two more to grow to maturity but I'm forever pulling up seedlings! It is a lovely grass though especially as it gently moves in a breeze!

Thanks Marilyn, that's so kind. Gosh, I do hope I can 'control' the feather grass! 😊

hi Annette where do you buy your grass seeds from? your garden is looking lovely. Lots of praise for your patient husband doing all the digging.

Hi Catherine, I've bought most of my seeds from Chiltern Seeds, some from Nickys Nursery.😊

Thank you Annette for some great inspiration. Borders just made of grasses can be pretty boring i feel. They shine out when planted up in a perennial border. Both types of plants contrasting beautifully with each other. When the grassed grow it will look spectacular. I m going to hav a go at growing the Schizachyrium Prairie Blues- it looks gorgeous. I have just potted up some Pennisetum Cream Falls together with some ivory Escholtzia, which I grew both from seed earlier in this year. Happy gardening 🙂 x

Thanks Be. I do love Californian poppies - only a minuscule amount of the seeds I scattered directly even germinated so next year I will be sowing in trays! 😊

Way to go Richard, well done.
Do you both have the same gardening ideas Annette or does Richard just go with the flow.
My other half does a lot of ‘ ifs and buts’ then generally just does as he’s told 😂🌻

Hi Susan, Richard is happy to follow my lead but I do discuss major changes with him first 😁

Hi Annette, thanks for your lovely video. Question, can I give my dahlias also a Chelsea chop, most of them are skinny and very long. Kind regards Joke.

    • @cottoverdi
      @cottoverdi  Месяц назад +2

Hi Joke, if you didn't pinch them before they were planted, then definitely go ahead and take out the first bloom stalk - take it out at the point where the new shoots are forming. Alternatively, you could leave the first bud to bloom so that you can enjoy it and then ensure you deadhead promptly when it goes over. Does this make sense?

@@cottoverdi Hi Annette thanks for your answer. Yes I pinched them when they were small, but still they are very skinny and long. But I already enjoyed some flowers in the vase. The dinnerplates are not blooming jet. Kind regards Joke.

I just loved the fluffy purple spear flowers featured in your video introduction, but I haven't a clue what they are? Could you share, please ❤

Hi, Roxanne, they are Sanguisorba hakusanensis 'Lilac Squirrel' (Korean burnet). I love them too! 😊

Me again! I watched Rosie Hardy this morning and she featured your Lilac Squirrel grass. Did you say that you grew those from seed? I cannot find seed anywhere in the states and I did find the plants for sale but were sold out. I have a greenhouse but during the winter it is too cold to plant in. I use my basement for growing and winter storage. I haven't seen your greenhouse, is there a video?

Hi Lisa, I bought this plant online. If you live in UK, try Crocus. They're pricey but good quality plants. I only have small upright plastic greenhouses. They're very temporary - hopefully one day I can have a 'real' one!
