Wtf?😢
Pin of shame lmaooo commenting without any basis whatsoever.
@@autotropicplaybench1819 I’m just dying to know how I would steal other results before the embargo ends. It would save days and nights of benchmarking!
To my mind, this is one of the most honest and informative tech channels. Not too superficial, not too deep. Not only graphics cards and CPUs, but a little bit of everything else. I also love the presentation and the pleasant atmosphere in the studio. 😊
Exactly what we aim for, thank you!
Hey all. Some notes:
- Around 14:00 I say "the money you saved on a 6800 XT" should be "on a 7800 XT"
- The 7800 XT numbers shown in the first 3 game graphs have a data input error in them. The correct average FPS IS shown in the summaries, and the correct data is used for the final comparisons between the different chips.
- REMINDER: I will NEVER reply to your comment asking you to text a number or send a telegram message. Please do not fall for those scams!
Please note that the 6800xt draws more power than it says it is, RDNA2 reports only core power while RDNA3 reports full board power. The difference can be up to 30% for higher power cards, for the 6800xt it's more like 20% higher than reported power. Secondly, test should focus on upcoming games, RDNA3 is proving that it's better for newer UE5 games than RDNA2 is.
@@PineyJustice This! Also other reviewers are kind of also smacking down the 7800XT that returns similar 6800XT performance, but they don't mention that these games are using old (pre-RDNA3) engine.
@@Traumatreewhat are the RDNA 3 games??? Also people play those games so I think its cool to use them as benchmarks...
@@PineyJustice You can always make suggestions for new games to be added. There are a lot of factors that will decide whether a game will make it in the final rotation though, not just engine relevance. It also needs to be a viable test.
And yeah RDNA2 cards software reporting (HWINFO and such) is absolutely worthless, of course we're not using that.
My new go-to channel for day 1 reviews 👍
Consumer advice focused, great data and presentation, and no tryhard thumbnails or lengthy hot takes. Thank you!
Thank you for the nice comment!
Recently discovered this channel, and I cant believe I havent found it in my tech research before this, excellent balance of facts and carefully worded opinion, and exactly what I needed to inform my (very expensive) purchases here in europe.
Thank you so much for the well timed and made review! (Though an average with the summary chart would avoid me from copying them by hand so I can use my phone/youtube screen as a calculator 😅)
Really appreciate your efforts.
Especially cost of power and comments on comparison.
Those are really important and lacks in many place.
You filled that gap.
Thank you!
@@TechTesters many thanks for making the power comps. that really helps for countries like mine where electricity may cost you an arm and a leg!
Unfortunately a lot of the other tech review RUclipsrs only cater towards the US and Canada audience who sometimes only pay like only 10c/kwh and on average double the energy consumption per person of any other country in the world.
*Cries in German paying up to 60 cents*
I was having a great day but now that I remembered my electricity bill I'll have to switch off my brand new ac and suffer like the rest of us in 34 degrees ;_;
The cost to run devices quickly surpasses the cost of acquisition here.
Mooie review weeral, je enthousiasme is ook telkens leuk om zien!
One of my favorite things about your reviews is the total cost of power comparisons! You are so underrated, I wish people weren't always so stuck on JUST listening to HUB and GN.
Great comparison to the most relevant competitors! Love the summary charts!
Glad you like them!
you killed it with your insights girl!!! spend too much time watching comparison vids and review of 7800xt and 4070 you gave me a very good insight into what i should know and look for.... really liked your honesty!!
Glad I stumbled upon your channel. Simple and informative. Thanks!!
Glad you think so, thanks!
Thank you so much for using using a dark background in the graphs!
Love how you explain things in a very understandable way, thank you for talking about power consumption too, here in Germany we're paying 0.40+/kw 😢 so it's an important information
Thanks a lot, you're the best ☺️
The 7800 XT costs the same as a 4060 Ti, matches or beats it in ray tracing, and matches the 4070 in rasterization. It's a pretty good buy given the poor value of the Nvidia cards this generation.
Yeah the 4060 Ti looks horrible next to this.
Beats the 4070 in raster.
@@TechTesters Lets be honest the 4060 Ti has looked horrible since its launch.
7800XT is a good card but even before now it was crazy to buy a 4060Ti when there was so many better options from AMD's 6000 series.
@@Lionheart1188Techpowerup's relative performance rankings page has RTX 4070 at 100% and RX 7800 XT at 107% now. Modest win for the cheaper GPU. Not many good reasons for the average gamer to pick up an RTX 4070 now unless they have a niche use case or their electricity is quite expensive. Also, agree with others...4060 Ti is a complete joke in both variants.
4060TI 16gb is 460€
7800XT 16gb is 555€
So there is 90~110€
Best new low end gpu is 4060 8gb.
If Nvidia makes 4070 Super 16gb at 550€ it is a win card for midrange.
Geweldig!!! Love to see people from the netherlands making professional content
I can't believe you guys took the time to calculate my electricity bills for the next 4 years! Also very simple but the green and red colours to show AMD & Nvidia is really helpful to quickly be able to differentiate. The effort is really appreciated, really great review, thank you
Thanks for the helpful review. Yours and Level1's were the best for me. The other two I've watched had a lot of complaining about recent reality (2+ years) not matching their hopes. Lol
Nice compliment, Level1 is great :) Thank you!
I'm so happy you choose to include power consumption and the price impact in your review videos.
Thx for the video, first time watching your channel, instant subscribe :)
Thank you so much for testing these! I love how you combined the 1080 and 1440 resolutions for all four comparisons. Very informative! Also i camt imagine paying a euro per kw/hr 😮😮😮. I live in the us and pay around 15 cents per kw/hr average. My highest bill in winter is around $300 in a month
Thanks! And yeah last winter was rough.
Well in the netherlands it went up to almost 1€/kWh during the early war of russia
Thankfully by now it has gone down a lot, in germany it was up to over 50cent/kWh, but at the moment it is more like 33ct/kWh - which is still more than in other countries.
I like your graphs, easy to understand the data quickly.
Thank you!
I really like the comparison graph that show how many percentage xyz is lead by. It show consumer how much more or less they're getting for their money. Overall great reviews and keep those graph coming.
This is such an impressive review! The power consumption and cost. The breadth of games. Simply fantastic!!!
Very detailed and informative, I’m so impressed!
Thank you!
You are doing so well with your videos and testing. Thank you so much for this very good content. Best whishes from Germany Bavaria ❤
Thank you very much!
Thanks for testing flight sim been looking everywhere for a result in this game.
No problem 👍
First time I have ever come across one of your videos and I instantly subscribed :) very well presented and was a very helpful video especially for me who is currently deciding whether to buy a 4070 or not, after this video I may have to go with the 7800XT
Thank you, glad you think so :)
More 7800 XT content coming too!
Thank you! Excited for next generation. Hope we get a bigger jump next year with price / performance!
Hopefully :-/
Thank you, best video with most benchmarks!
First video watching for this channel, thank you for the comprehensive coverage, just 1 comment regarding your intro, the 7800 XT is actually a bit fast than the RTX 4070 as it shows in your benchmark and all the other benchmarks.
You mean the "below" part? That was about market positioning / price. And thank you!
Super nice review, subscribed!
Thank you!
Really like the way you approach this and the presentation is excellent. Well done Miss!
Thank you!
I really appreciated the total energy cost breakdown! Very nice addition to the review!
Thanks! ☺️
Agreed! Energy is almost $0.40 where I live, so I pay close attention to efficiency of any components I use. I had gone with a 4070 which is fantastic for underclocking. I managed to get it to draw about 120-130W under full load for a 5-10% performance hit. In addition I managed to get discounts for an effective price of $470 (10% off plus game included which I planned to purchase anyway).
Thank you for the benchmark. Good quality video. I watched a lot of benchmarks videos in the last month (I just bought the components for my first PC built) and, in my opinion, it's at the same level as the youtube channel gamer nexus. So, it's at the top of video benchmark comparison :)
I really like that you added the energy comparison, more specially the examples of cost over time. A lot of benchmark videos do mention the energy consumption, but they don't give examples like you did. We can easily do our own calculations, but it's appreciated having it included in the video. I just bought a 6800 xt rather than the 4070 because I'm not that interested in ray tracing at the moment, and it was 100$ less in my region (i.e. Québec). Maybe I should've put more weight on the energy consumption over the next 4-5 years instead of just looking at it quickly. I'm still very happy with my choice :)
Anyway, have a nice day to you all.
Thank you and enjoy the new PC 🥳
Love that you test MSFS! Thank you! (Also happy the 7800XT outdid the 6800XT in that title...)
Happy to help :)
Nice review again Nada 🥰
Thank you 🤗
Thanks for the excellent review yet again
My pleasure!
Really appreciate you benchmarking MS Flight Simulator!
Great Review :D, one of the best available with GN, HU and Level1. I like the energy pricing explanation, a lot of the review channels outside EU don't take that in mind. (Just as a desire more that a critic, usually AMD CPUs and GPUs are undervolt champions, I would like to see if maybe with undervolt they can beat Nvidia efficiency)
Thank you! And we'll look into undervolting!
Great review! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Great Review lots of benchmarks!!
Thank you!
Love to see you using the High preset mostly... I think that is the most useful one of all since it balances performance and fidelity in an optimal way. Ultra settings looks cool... on paper, but totally unnecessary these days and just eats performance.
Agreed!
I agree. Very refreshing seeing this, loved it
I hope you do a roundup with some of the MSRP 7800 XTs like you did with the 4070! Love the content!
If I get my hands on a couple I will, but so far supply is pretty limited.
Seriously loving this channel with every upload, one of the best if not the best tech channels for benchmarks and news. Awesome work!👏
Thank you 😊
Welcome back young lady :) Thanks for the information!
Thank you!
Gj as always. Keep it up!
On the side note: 6800XT is the best GPU I bought I think.
good review👍👍 , i'm new subscriber
Thanks for the sub!
Very clear, thank you
Simply love this Channel
Thank you :)
It will be interesting to see how FSR 2.2 or 3 will work on the 6800xt and 7800xt and how much will those AI accelerators will help.
AI will help only for what you program it to do! Nothing Gaming related! That will take some more time. But it will hit soon
Very nice evaluation as usual.
Your pal Coco.
P.S. i have the 6800 and i am very satisfied with it.
I am not in the market for a GPU, but I still watch to support your channel.
Excellent review as always!
This generation of GPUs really makes me wonder why they did not just wait until they had an improved product to release?
Money.
@@TechTesters Would also wonder about diminishing returns with the tech itself, perhaps nvidia and amd are realising that they are are running out of future feasible improvements, so they are slowing it all down.
Good set of games to test, great vid thanks
Thank you!
Clearest voice n review!!
Thank you!
I upgraded my GTX 1660 to a RX 7800 XT the other day, capped FPS to 60, cranked everything to the highest setting for 1080p in Cyberpunk 2077, and the FPS was between 58 to 60. I liked it as this is my first AMD GPU.
electricity bills were a nightmare last year. Thankgod i live in an appartment when i have solar panels on the roof for each appartment block here. To be honest, i didn't notice any costs difference between this and last year. Great review btw but my RTX3080 still rocks for now.
Thank you, and they were :-/ I think we're still paying about double from last year. But a lot less than over the winter.
RTX 3080 is good enough for the next couple of years, if you play at 1080p/1440p. I am with you on this.
Very clear charts. Easy to read, Even at 2x speed I could comprehend the charts without having to think too much.
Glad you like 'em :)
Thank you for the power consumption/cost charts!
Living in Germany (Hello, Neighbour 👋) this is definitely something to consider.
Without this extra cost I'd for sure go with the 7800XT but now I'm - once again - undecided.
It's definitely not an easy choice :-/
same here. either get a 7800 Xt for 550, or wait for an 4070 promo for 550 euros I expect will show up soon. will save some electricity with rtx, but the fine wine drivers on amd is also something worth considering. more memory and bigger memory bus for the same money in the end... think amd wins. will cost a bit more in the long run but I should get more fps in the end
@@szoguner 7800 it's the better deal. 12Gb vRam of 4070+Ti variant, isn't ideal. I was on exactly same train. Buy an 4070 ti, wait for 7800, or grab an 7900. Ended up with an RX 7900 XT in the end. 20Gb vRam for 850e, it's perfect in my case, and toned down p.consumption with a bit of undervolting/limiting fps to not exceed my screen's native refresh rate.
Wow. I'm looking into buying one these cards. I live in the Netherlands as an expat, and was trying to figure out what the costs of using them would be. Your review is liberally exactly what I was looking for.
Happy to hear, thanks!
Nice energy chart
I believe that limiting the card's power to 200W won't hurt performance much and in that form 7800xt@200W will still have +30% VRAM advantage over RTX 4070, while costing 100$ less and loosing only slightly like 5%.
Finding that out soon :)
Hi Nada, I really like your channel. However I think if you add VR to your benchmarking like sim racing, msfs etc, your channel will be way ahead of others. Again, awesome video. Thanks
Thank you! But I'm not really much into VR myself, other than using Beat Saber on the Quest. Not sure if I'd have much to add to that space.
Leuke filmpjes, zou graag ook de decibel geluiden willen of heb je de meet apparatuur niet?
Check the last video that includes thermals/noise for both cards :)
great review
Thank you!
Interesting. I've got a Red Devil 6750 XT, and am sad about all the options now when I want to buy something. Also, we need more white cards. All of us with white builds have few options. I recently returned a Gigabyte Aero 4070 Ti because it would freeze on games, and crash my PC on occasion, causing me to lose any game progress in the meantime. It was fast, and Ray tracing looked great, I'd get 115-122 Fps on Ultra Ray-tracing settings with DLSS3 on, in both Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk, but the crashing games made it annoying, so I'm back to my 6750 XT, which has been rock solid.
I think I will go with the 7800xt as I build a new gaming system. On the second day after launch, the 7800xt is at the same price as the 6800xt. I could speculate on a price drop of the 6800xt, but it will vanish from shops rather than being much cheaper, so it makes sense to go with the new features of the 7800xt.
You sure? I find the 6800XT much cheaper constantly, i never saw a 7800XT near the 499 they claimed it should be priced.
@@Daervar This was two weeks ago. Opinions change. 🙂
For now, I went with a second-hand RX 6800 Non-XT, which I got from the bay for 300 Euros. It's still a beast for 3440x1440p gaming. I will now wait and see what Intel offers next year or how the prices develop.
@@lidachs great deal there! I think it might even be a better card than a 6800xt for a bit more. It's way more power efficient :)
Thank you🎉
You’re welcome 😊
The question is: 7800 XT or 4070 at the same price (down to a cent)? xD Great video btw!
Underrated channel
Thank you!
Just picked up a 7800 xt for around $415usd during a sale. Definitely agree that this card should have been named maybe a 7700xt as the launch price of $500 is closest to the 6700xt at $480 and an actual generational uplift for that segment. The 4070 despite the feature set, was still around $100 more costly and there haven't been good deals on nvidia's side
Great video, the card is good too bad the price almost same in my country. I'm wonder if undervolting make this card is good to buy really need to see it in the future.
Looking into undervolting soon :)
Great review and 7800xt is amazing.
Thanks!
Funny thing I ordered an RX7600 XT due to budget and they mistakenly sent me a 7800XT and alas, here I am watchinga 7800XT review xD.
Does enabling SAM, amd cpu + gpu offers more performance/fps and does that changes the fact to go 7800xt over 4070, i am planning to upgrade my pc and decided to go with 7800xt so wanted to know your opinions
Heu what do you use to connect this card to the monitor cuz im trynna connect it to a 1080p 240hz monitor but notice that this card only take 2.1 display port 😢
i just bought a 6800 xt a few days ago, and i was looking forward to the 7800 xt, but 3% is just too small improvement...
they are cool cards i think i should still stay on my 6800 and see if hyper rx comes out for 5000 and 6000 series sometime in the future im sure it will, that being said i may snag a 7000 series for hyper rx or just wait another year see what 8000 brings
Hyper RX looks interesting. Shame it wasn't ready for today though.
At the same as being cheaper than the 4070 it also includes a free copy of Starfield which adds a but more value to the card again.
I'm going from a Nintendo switch to a rx 7800 xt so the culture shock is going to be fun! 😁
Looking forward to a review of best 7800 xt card to buy for all third party cards..
Great reviews
If I can get my hands on a few, I'll do that :)
@@TechTesters thanks 👍
How much thick is it (in mm)? I have an ITX case, but can't find anywhere this measure, only its length
Thank you for including power consumption and electricity prices. All I see is reviewers recommending 6950's which are cheaper than most high end or high mid cards, without taking electrical bills into consideration. Not every country has cheap electricity.
Yeah I don't really see old gen cards as a real alternative unless power is very cheap.
@@TechTesters except for 6800, I'd say. It's the only RDNA2 card that's lowkey already "undervolted" in stock condition. Also the only RDNA2 card that can get as low as 900mV
It’s awesome that consumers have more choice in this more mainstream GPU market price point again 💪🥳! It’s a shame AMD didn’t drop their price on the 7700XT to about $379 USD which is where it really should be ☺👍imo. The 7800XT should be at least ~$30USD cheaper too as while it offers vg performance compared to the 4060Ti …. The RTX4070 for $100 more for much better image upscaling and better Ray Tracing ✊🤩performance for me, would be the better choice. For $130 or more cheaper it starts to make you think 💭a little more about what games you play etc and ultimately what GPU you purchase …. Again imo.👍😇
Seems interesting, although I would be interested in a comparison to a 3080 or 3090 since you can get those used at reasonable prices now
3080 is roughly a 4070.
3080 is a terrible card it performs the same yes but only 10gb, its so bad.
Used is used, new is new. It HAS to be new cards sold in order to even get a used market.
That said I can't wait to get my 7800 XT Steel Legend 😁
Thanks for the review but you know what we are really interested in… how’s your Ranger doing in BG3? We want details.
She's awesome and I cannot wait to play more. But the 7700 XT awaits ;)
Hi! Any updates for the custom design cards? You mentioned the Gigabyte 7800XT OC that I bought and I'm curious about your test results compared to the standard AMD card :) thanks!
Coming soon! If you already bought it, you don't have to worry ;)
I've tried it for the AMD RX 7800 XT graphics card with RTX 4070. In terms of non-RT gaming, the RX 7800 XT is superior to the RTX 4070, but if RT is on RTXX 4070 it will be superior to the RX 7800 XT, but I'm confused why it should be named RX 7800 XT while Cores/ The Shader Unit is lower than the RX 6800 XT I should call this AMD graphics card the RX 7800. I also tested the DXR (DirectX RayTracing) 3D Mark RX 7800 XT, this got an average frame rate of 31.03 and the RTX 4070 got 51.74.
will be interesting comparing it to the 4070 super when its released - and that card only comes with 12gb vram
Working on that now!
I feel like graphics cards would not be priced as high if Nvidia didn't price them as high. Kinda like when the iphone 7 (??) priced at $1,000 then all other phone manufacturers followed suit. But if I am to upgrade, I think I"ll get the AMD since it's cheaper and still performs as good.
Absolutely. Instead of offering the best product for the best price, their job now is to try and position the RX cards so it makes JUST enough sense compared to RTX.
We all end up paying extra due to the mindless consumerists.
Thank you.
Nice review, I just don't understand one thing. You posted the starfield numbers earlier in the video and then in the 1080p and 1440p summary, those averages did not match the numbers earlier in the video. So, which is correct? Did I miss something where you clarified you were using a different location to benchmark or something?!
Thanks! And good catch. The numbers in the summary and the ones used for the % comparison with other cards are correct, the numbers for the 7800 XT in the Starfield graph are from an earlier test run, before a final test run was set. I'll update that in the next one.
@@TechTesters Thanks for the clarification!
what one would I better be of getting, the sapphire pulse one or the hellhound one for 7900 xt.
Best review
I just bought one (arriving in 2 days) hope it will be a good jump from a 2070 super
Enjoy it!
Very good. Let's not forget also those who prefer to stay on 1080p as well, for them this is a real winner. 1080p still has a large percentage of users (if you look at Steam surveys for example). They will get really good value for their money though the 7700XT may be questionable here for the little price difference. The 7900XT still in game and out there which is the step after the 7800XT targeting not 'high end' but I would call it directly 4K gaming. Are you able to give us a hint on what the 7800XT may be like for ultrawide? That's considering the standard 34 inch 3440x1440p monitor. Thanks!
Definitely, especially since upscaling isn't great at 1080p and it's mostly about raw performance.
For 3440x1440p, it'll always depend on the game, but roughly you can expect the framerate to be reduced by about 25-30% or so compared to regular 1440p for most games. So generally you'll be OK for 3440x1440p High, except for in some of the heaviest titles.
Thanks. Really looking forward to it.
I'd love to see Assetto Corsa in these benchmarks since it's the game I care about most and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
I wish it had better power consumption, I'm retired with nothing better to do than game all day and by my calculation (and current prices) every 50w costs me 100 euro per year. Since you can get the 4070 down to 130w and it seems the 7800xt doesn’t get close to 200w when undervolted that means a 4070 would save me about 150 euros per year and assuming I'd use the card for 5 years that's pretty much a new pc build for free.
The only real downside of the 4070 is 4gb less memory and in some games worse performance. The upside is better drivers, dlss, cuda and nvenc. To me the real use of the 7800xt is that it will (probably) force nvidia to drop prices.
Best AMD offering this generation!
I just wish it would have had a bit better power efficiency, but it's not terrible either.
Thanks for your extremely thorough review and hard work! You always do an amazing job and it's much appreciated from the consumer perspective
Alot of it is due to the "Idle power draw" it seems to be really affecting people with more then 1 monitor.
I'd rather phrase it "least bad offering this generation". From both of these companies.
When 4090 is the only exciting card in 2 lineups (and is way too costly for most of us), you know it's a horrendous gen.
I do wonder if they undervolt as well as the 6000 series did which could help a fair bit with power consumption. Apparently they overclock well at least acc to techpowerup reviews.
@@BarAlexC 7900xt when it drops prices to 700 is also nice. I just can't justify spending so much on a gpu.
The mom-jeans (and accent) really got me...
