2 year old vid, but I will say that anti seize is our friend 🍺. Threaded stuff, shiny stuff, splined stuff, pretty much any stuff that holds other stuff together or pivots on stuff . I will also add that the amount of anti seize on the head of pin is more than enough to end up on every item of clothing worn that day every tool you have laid out & it will get smeared on every sq. Inch of bare skin including your face, hair and ears
Guy gave me outta blue watch the video repair totally hand's on took a few discs 6 worked I'd recommend I had heated the nut without flame by using drimle toilet put screwdriver as shown no tap just work around . Oh had to clip top fan with tin snips but to cut wedge flat screwdriver between pulley and spindle worked out this video is very informative, hung mine from tractor bucket vertical belt replacement U tube video on John Deere GX335 all great
Exact same thing happened to my GX345. The dealership told me the transmission was shot. I repaired it with a new pulley and fan. Cost: 50 bucks. Why do we take our equipment to the shop if they don’t even care to give you the right diagnosis!!!
So when this happened To you did it automatically stop driving or did you have kind of a burning rubber smell from the drive belt because I have a burning rubber smell from my drive belt and I can’t find which one it is I believe it’s the pulley in front of the transmission but I’m just wondering if you also had that smell
The tractor just stopped moving when the pulley stripped, no smell. A few years ago I was getting a burning smell but that was because the drive belt was totally shot, in addition to the smell the tractor sounded like it was falling apart, a new belt took care of the problems.
I just had almost the same thing happen to me today. I dident strip mine though. The nut came loose and the tranzaxle sounded like it was going to explode. All hydros stopped working. Re set with a new locking nut from JD. And was back on the road. 470 hours never replaced the main belt and it appears to be in great shape.
I could hear rhythmic noice at mid idle mower ran.fine high idle mower on mowing lawn just died motion wise fo an back then mower died prob. safety cutoff ..whatcha both videos.U can Do it goodluck

I don’t recall having that smell. It just stopped moving. The pulley is directly under the transmission fan. I believe JD calls it a sheave.

It's just the drive pulley is stripped in the splines connection to transmission. Don't freak replace ,
