I haven’t been able to play drums in like a week now. I really want to, but the school work load is sooooo much. Thanks for the lesson though I will try and get some time in. 😊
Thanks for giving permission to burn the box, Dave! Sometimes all we need is a little push. Your nudge led me down a few creative pathways, so thanks. So I thought I'd share one pattern back with you that flowed nicely for me. I would be curious where here you might take it ✌️ R L L K K R LR L R R L [ accent on #1 R and #3 #4 #5 L ]
Very nice my friend.....out of interest and because I'm a drum nerd, how do you think of that. I can see two different ways to think of it (which would take me down different paths)
@@DaveMajor Wasn't sure if that was a question or not ... u asking how "did" I think of this pattern phrase? If so ... I'm kind of a crack head for adding linear fills and groove phrasings into my repertoire ... as we all do, then blend our own inner bag of chops with your ideas .. and run with it. But I did I hit a wall, mainly b/c I need to head back to the city from my studio (I'm sure your studio is just a jog downstairs). Still ... I'm curious about those two pathways you had in mind so I can road test later this week in the studio. As always, thanks for putting yourself out there.
@@briburnett sorry poorly phrased question on my part. What I meant was how do you conceptually view this phrase ( it was also the drum teacher in me coming out and wanting to open up more ideas in you 😉) . So to me, it could be either this A 6 stroke roll with 2 kicks that would alternate to the left ( Rll KK R (the last note would 'usually' be a L )) into a left lead inverted double paradiddle Or... an inverted 5 stroke roll (again substituting the double for kick) into a RIGHT lead double paradiddle with and extra note on the end (could be a kick, lf or a L) The first viewpoint might send me down a more groove-based path. The left on note 7 could easily be a backbeat in a half time shuffle feel. The second one I might end up accenting a lot of the middle singles note 6-9.
Hope you enjoy this lesson guys! What's your favourite way of playing a 6 stroke roll?
So many ways 👍🏽
Thanks , Dave .
No worries Kevin, hope you are well
Great as usual..I love add ING kick and hat....and nice ghosting as well....😁😁
Thanks my man! Ghosts are where it's at and really important for making these licks and chops flow nicely
Double on the kick substitution idea sounded mean!
Yeah man it does. It's pretty wicked if you alternate it back and forth so RllKKR LrrKKL. You can get some cool orchestrations and shapes from it
Fantastic lesson with great ideas…thank you so much! Peter
Nice one Dave!
Glad you enjoyed it

You are welcome! Even 10 mins a day can make a difference
@@DaveMajor thank you! I try to get at least 2 hours a day. But with school sometimes it isn’t possible lol
Again thanks for the lesson

@Dave Major 👍Ok, I'll work on deciphering your words into the visual form ;-) Thanks for entertaining my question and offering these ideas ✌️Brother!
No bother 👊
Nice lesson. Shame about the grammar! :-)
"...can lose ITS coolness!"
Thankfully I'm better at drums than I am at English!
@@DaveMajor no argument there Dave. :-)
😋😉
