Wonderful! This was so irritating to fix! They literally trick you into using bing - I often clicked on new tab automatically and didn't realise it had switched to bing until I saw the dodgy and garbage results that popped up. Google seems to filter out the dodgy ones so the results are much better and less dangerous. If my default search engine is google, at no point do I want to be using bing! I shouldn't have to use an extension to prevent that! Thank you!

OH MY GOSH YOU ARE A LEGEND!!! For as long as I can remember I've been torn between the fact that Chrome won't let people push the sound icon on a tab to mute a tab (only offering right click mute site) and the fact that Edge was stained with Bing. But you have helped me FINALLY setting up what I feel like is the perfect web browser!
Thanks for the how-too, Mike! I suppose I am one of the outliers - I use the new Edge, and I don't mind the default Microsoft page - it is Microsoft News for me. The page has the Bing search bar, and I do use it for a quick search, and Google when I need it.
edge is okay, i just find the bing biased search to be rather hit and miss for my personal use, but if it works for you then that is all you can ask for

Since rebuilding my PC to the new spec 3 months ago, I have been meaning to do something about Bing! Totally agree about the search results. I will be taking action today. Thanks MIKE for the timely video. What's the difference between a quality microwave and someone who knows a quality search engine when they see it? the microwave goes Bing.
paul i agree totally the bing search is generally awful as far as i can see from my results, even searching something like nvidia drivers it takes me to the highest paid malware site rather than the official nvidia pages. Very poorly optimised or just microsoft as usual just chasing dollars rather than making a usable piece of software

Brilliant! I searched and searched trying to work out how to do this! Everywhere else it just said go to address bar setting and change default to google. But even with this, the bing search kept coming up with new tabs etc. So thanks heaps!

I don’t know how to get it off and I’m kinda sad about it because when I search up roblox for example it says “roblox at target” and it annoys me. Hi Mike, have you any suggestions for how I can turn off the Trending Pull down window when i begin typing into the Google search Box. I have searched and searched for a solution and followed other suggestions from various web sites but none have helped me get rid of the pesky Trending drop-down lists. Regards Fred
Put up the Google search which is nice and quicker.I just change the main screen from bing homepage to a Microsoft search bar instead.No more newsfeeds and random stuff, Great! Kind of worked anyway.
man thanks a lot the search bar does some crazy stuff you can even copy a ULR from another browser and this thing and it will take you to a different sight that is full of bad stuff it could fool a lot of people that don't know much about computers very scary they made this default

interesting to see the option of extensions, but what i really want to do is keep my edge frontpage cos i like the quick links (even though only 8) ... what i want is just to change the search bar to go to google, not bing... not replace the whole page... i already have google as default, but when i open the new tab it has bing there... if i could put google instead, i could replace one of the quick links

I was worried I had that damned malware that is suppposed to redirect you reguardless your search engine default choice. seems I just had the "search box" selected. normal. but microsoft logic is twisted. It shouldn't be a maze to try and solve these problems. But these instructional videos are a great aid to us users!

bing is an awful search engine and normally sends me to unsecure and viral sites that pay for ranking high

sounds like you have a browser redirect installed probably worth running some antivirus software to find out exactly what it is.
