    If you want to do the Henschel factory then it depends on the date you chose: 1935-40 Panzer I, 1939-42 Panzer III, 1942-45 Tiger, 1944-45 Tiger II. Might be good to do two types so a late Panzer I and early Panzer II, or a late Tiger and early Tiger II? For Krupp maybe a Stug IV and a Pak 43? Perhaps one of the subjects built and one under construction?

    Usually war related dioramas can be pretty dour. In this instance one option you could look at would be to have the factory producing Panzer I tanks in the mid to late mid 30s, before the war. You could add some trees and colors to make it late Summer or early Fall, and have the tone set to be a bit more relaxed and leisurely. You could even have some workers sitting outside in the courtyard eating lunch or taking a break, maybe one catching a nap in the back of the truck. The Panzer I also has the benefit of being on the smaller side, allowing you a little bit more room to maneuver with the other components you want to add without it seeming overly busy or crowded.

    Many years ago I purchased a DRAGON 1/72 ( i think, may be 1/144) display model showing a tank production line featuring 2 King Tigers. The scene depicts a couple of GI's examining the tanks after the site was captured. It has the Gantry and Crane and a basic workshop backdrop. If this could be done in 1/35 It would be amazing. love your work.

    Wow is my first thoughts. This would be the diorama of my dreams also. So many ways you can go with this so here is one thought.Tank Factory with Factory being stressed here. You need at least 2 tanks. One complete and one at the last stages with the turret being on a host ready to be lowered on to the hull. If you were to do the RR track you could add a 3rd tank being driven to the flat car or already resting on the flat car. I'd bet Miniart is your go to for all the workers and factory equipment. I can't wait to follow your progress on this Awesome Diorama!

    Say, do you have any videos showing the way to setup spray painter thing, and/or how to do the spray painting and/or how to set up a place to do the painting (so the paint mist doesn't get on anything else in the home) ? Because if you do, you could put links to those educational videos into the description below of the videos you create for this Diorama build.

    How about the Dzerzhinsky tractor factory in Stalingrad? It supposedly was pumping out T34s and Katyushas that went directly in to battle before it was shut down. There are lots of pictures of the factory as well as several very interesting pictures of T34 hulls lined up outside the factory. Can show the transition of tanks moving from a busy working factory to a dirty battlefield all in one diorama!

  • @chemech

    Trumpeter sells 1/35 static models of gondolas, flatcars, and track, which would be the thing for a rail siding serving the factory.
    They also sell a WR360 C12 small diesel switcher if you want to get elaborate.
    Their BR52 steam locomotive however is rather long, and probably not a good fit for the scene.
    Beyond that, you are looking at some serious scratchbuilding / kitbashing for railroad items in 1:35 scale

  • @timsmith4548
    @timsmith4548 2 года назад +3

    My first thoughts go to the base (lessons learned the hard way over the years) and how mobile you want it to be. Model railroaders have been making travel layouts forever so there are a lot of plans and tips out there for framing it and installing handles to move it around. I think I'd also (carefully) pin that plaster smoke stack so that it could be disassembled anytime you need to shift the diorama around.
    There's so many ways to go with this kit! You could have it working with tanks (or really anything) in production, you could have it under attack with your choice of allies verses regular troops or the volksgrenadiers, or even a bombed out factory with civilians clearing rubble. The possibilities of adding lighting are another thing to consider when doing the planning. I'm sitting on a couple of LED kits to simulate welders that I plan to use "when I get the time." This will certainly be a long build but I know it'll be awesome once its done!

  • @raka522
    @raka522 2 года назад +7

    My first thought: The factory is too small to represent a tank factory!
    At best as an annex to a tank factory, because tanks were manufactured in large halls, with external doors similar to those of aircraft hangars.
    Regarding the 'Printed Diorama Accesories' I can at least confirm that there are NO embarrassing typographical errors, as is often the case when the model manufacturer is not directly from Germany 😉

  • @justintowle3845
    @justintowle3845 2 года назад

    You should add a kriegslokomotive and a couple box cars out in front of the road, but build it with the tracks lower than the road level so the cargo doors are road height for unloading and lowering the rail scene for the view of the background.

    Oh my. That's a lot of fun work ahead. My first thought when I saw the size of the main door was what would be cool for Henschel? Maybe a "King Tiger" turret on a work stand (Henschel turret) to be paired with the hull. I love Stug's as one of my relatives was a Stug commander in WW2, however they lack a certain "wow" factor. Have fun and please post progress reports.

Can't wait to see you building this. All the best.

    It all looks VERY impressive! I've always been reluctant to attempt any large, Bob Letterman-style superdioramas, myself, as it would be too easy to 'lose control' of the overall story. I wish you the best of luck with your project; especially if you decide to include a railway siding. (As for my tank suggestion, I'd say anything pre-1940, unless you want to add some damage to those buildings - and they look too nice to do that . . . .)
    Thanks for posting this!

    At first sight I was thinking WOW!!! But when I looked at it a second time, I was thinking: What is this factory actually producing? Why do they need the high smoke stack? Gothawerke was supposed to build the Ho229 airplane. Krupp-werke was building heavy locomotives. If it's a steelwork, where are the steel production facilities ? And what the heck is all those empty cable reels doing there unless it's a power station? Don't make sense to me, but then I'm not an armor guy, so probably I don't know what I'm talking about...😊

    Andy - Are you going to start carrying the RT-Diorama kits? Please say yes. Its pretty expensive to ship them to the US and no one here carries them.
    I did not see them on your website as of today.

    I would build it as a factory producing parts. Like barrels or turrets or even ammo. I'm pretty sure there are some 3d files that you can print for those parts. Then, I would put those parts laying around in the yard on a side. I would also put a truck loading some parts in front of the factory. Other possibility, an old factory, abandoned, where a US platoon is passing in front and 2 children's with a dog waving at them!!! There is a ton of possibilities!!!

    Could do a panzer 1 tank rusting away and then have a panzer 3 being 'rolled out'

    Looks like a very detailed kit but I'm seeing a bombed out factory that could be a possibility too with this kit 👍👍
