3D Scanning & 3D Printing a broken tool part with Maya & KIRI Engine

  • While cleaning my shed, I dropped my clamping straight edge and a part that holds the spring broke. I was able to scan it with KIRI Engine and model a replacement in Maya and 3D Print it in ABS on a Prusa Mini.

    Sweet, I have kiri for days on my phone, I didn't got any motivation to try it. Now I will try fix a couple of things using blender/Inventor..Thx.for the inspiration

    In this case I think it would have just been easier to take some measurements on the original part and just rebuild it in 3d CAD. A more complex object would def work in KIRI though. How much better is the paid version than the free? I've uploaded a few models using the free scan but they're insanely small/bumpy textured/need a lot of cleanup/etc.
