"Have Trains, Will Travel." Priceless to see your friend's face light up like a child in a candy store. He's definitely happy with your work, Harrison. Good that you added options to expand the layout in two places if he so chooses. Thanks for sharing. 👍🐾👍
If anyone were to create a small layout like this for me, and having done it so well, I'd be just as thrilled as THIS guy!!!! Harrison - FANTASTIC WORK!!!!
You're never too young, or too old, or too cool, or too geeky to have a trainset. I could literally watch someone manage their trains on a trainset while drinking a pint.
Man that’s great that he’s in love with it this much, I just hope you can get it out of the basement XD Seeing you do this makes me really want to make one of my own. I have one in N scale that I’ve been working on here and there but I’d love to have one in HO again
@SMTMainline it looked fun. It always nice when you can show off your mad skills , and then see the look on their face.Priceless. I have not done any projects been busy working on my sister's mini van engine and my friends bmw convertible that got hit hard in the front. CAN'T wait to get back to trains.
Love the layout!! Only thing that gets me is how close the outer tracks get to the edge 🥴 Some plexiglass could fix that though!! Great work as always SMT
@@SMTMainline oh good!! Glad to hear that! I’m currently looking into building a micro switching layout in n scale for my college dorm I’m about to move into. Your suggestion for the layout planner is gonna serve me wonders! Thanks SMT
My entire life I had one friend ever who liked trains, I was 10 when I moved and I’ve only seen him that next summer after moving, it’s been two decades since we made bedroom floor layouts and Thomas the tank engine wooden layouts all over the place, and since I’ve built I’d say 6-7 different layouts over the years, never anyone interested or cared, I upped my nephews would maybe just maybe like them but they too aren’t too big of fans but find my primary layout (though find it boring as it needs a 400-500$ fix to have it running and I’d say easily 5-7 grand just to complete it” I’ve now got my second layout running until then, and can’t wait to show my nephews in hopes they get to finally see there uncles trains run at least a little bit. I always wanted a friend who would light up and find it cool. That’s a blessing man. And I’m happy for ya! Don’t know your channel and I my main model rail thing is prototypical operations and large layouts, but since it’s down I’ve now built a non prototypical freelance design industrial park layout I just put up the very first video up on my channel, maybe one day I’ll. Be blessed with another friend who enjoys the hobby and runs the trains and operation sessions with me until then its always nice seeing people enjoy and get excited over what someone has put time and money into a hobby that’s constructive and a lot of fun once everything runs well!
Have you looked for any train clubs in your area on facebook? I find these things aren't well advertised but usually have many members with the same interest. I've met several friends there.
@@SMTMainline honestly man, I’ve been offered, they’re all 1-2 hours one way from me which isn’t an issue, it’s constantly working that on my days off I’m just left pretty exhausted, and I’m off only Monday Tuesday, so all of there meets are during days I work. I also wanted to be apart of the one in San Antonio but dang they charged a fortune just to be a member and after several months of in and out of hospitals and being super sick it’s not even a possibility now for me to afford the additional monthly. I’ve been offered to an N scale club but I’m an HO guy…I’ve been told they have a few of us, I’d maybe be able to meet them once or twice a month but wished I was able to contribute to there modular layouts but again I don’t model N scale, thinking about it I’d be willing to build them and scenic them as well as long as they told me whaat the track design they needed on it, otherwise your right there a bit secluded and too quiet really, most members are 60+ and say they want younger people but tend to only see someone half there age and treat you a bit different I have made a few connections though that were extremely kind and very helpful
There were/are some old Laurel and Hardy home movies. In one, they shooting from a moving car an RDC running down a track. Almost like they are racing eachother. That is what your RDC reminds me of.
The queen jubilee is excellent I got it as my Christmas bonus at work a year back(I work in a train store) going on eBay for around 600/700 pounds now and I got lucky with my number been 70 i think or around that ball park
i gots me a N scale super cheif , 3770 steam , and a beautiful GP-7 triple axel tunnel engine with the huge vent opening on the deck and not set up high .😊
It wouldn't be practical for HO. If you use 15R which is pretty tight you need around 2.7 feet to make a turn. It might be possible to make it with flex track but you couldn't run anything larger than a switcher.
Yes, I'd suggest making a list of everything you want out of your layout before designing it. In other words do you prefer switching, running, scenery, what industries you want etc.
Hey, do you have any big boys and if not, I don’t have too much HR track. My dad gave me an HO model 4014 and I can’t run it so I feel kind of bad so if you guys want it, you can come pick it up. I’m pretty good condition.
That Taw Valley model is gorgeous, and looks to be an excellent runner to boot.

Such an amazing layout. Glad that your friend is enjoying it!
Your friend's reaction to his new layout warms my heart ❤🥰
Love his excitement!!!
The wonderful power of DCC - it’s fantastic!
Wow that has alot of track for the amount of space you had to work with. Excellent work as always SMT
Thank you very much!
So very cool SMT he looks happy
I think so. It was fun putting it together.
The 'Wooww Duudee" reminds me of the mellow turtle in Finding Nemo. Good work Harrison 👏
Great job with the layout I’ll definitely recommend the video to my friend who is trying to build their own
Right on, thank you!
That's great glad he's stoked to run it etc.
Amazing as always; glad your friend likes the layout!!
Great job Harrison! What a great layout!
That is so cool
Alot of fun to be had on this layout🚂🇨🇦🙋
I think so too.
Your design is obviously a winner! You can tell by the dialect that your friend has known you for some time as you’re from the same area.
Thanks. I guess the accent would be similar growing up in the Ottawa valley
@@SMTMainline it never leaves lol. Driving back from Toronto I’d get to about Carleton Place and it would kick in.
Well done Harrison
Love it
I want a permanent Ho scale layout someday Harrison
I like that Elizabeth II and VIA Rail Charger he has!
It made for some great testing.
“So ummm, how are we gonna get this out of your basement?” Lol. Love it. And I’m glad he loves it too.
It wasn't too difficult but I do have some grass and ballast that need to be cleaned up now.
Taw Valley spotted, they’re automatically goated
I wasn't expecting to see such a thing.

I never knew they made the new VIA trainsets in HO! It's great to see that he loves the layout.
It's the new Charger set from Bachmann. He just got this one and it seems to have decent detail.
That’s the way to keep the hobby alive !

Very Cool .... Good Job Harrison

That open green area in the middle made me do a search for HO scale baseball players, and sure enough, you can buy them.

@@SMTMainline it turned out great, I'm thinking about getting a layout from someone in my family. He passed so I was thinking of talking it.
Order a Ferromex locomotive, I am from Mexico and I would like to see it
I'd like to do so, I'm just not sure which one to pick.
Okay no problem
Great work
😱is that your friends queens jubilee locomotive
How does he have that?
He apparently got a good deal on it and wasn't aware it was super rare until after the purchase.
Can’t believe an Australian NR class made it into one of your videos! 😮
I purchased it a couple months ago, I like it a lot.
Amazing what you can do in 5 x 6 feet
Absolutely!
Nice, a fellow British railroad fan.
Nice small HO layout.

Where did u purchased that violet train 🚂 locomotive????!!
It's not mine. I think my friend said he got it on facebook marketplace or something.

NR class! My favorite. Auscision or SDS?
It's by SDS. I bought it a couple months ago and so far really like it.
@@SMTMainline Great! I bought a pair of SDS, but so far they live in a display cabinet as I finish my loft so I can build a new layout.
mint and nice to see UK and non UK stuff together personally not a fan of taw vally in purple
The UK has some great trains. This one didn't belong to me but I have added some to the collection.
Question, do you allow visitors on your way out? The visitors that I need or like people who wouldn’t touch anything or mess any of your stuff up
Is the layout really low, or is that guy like 8ft tall?
Liam is a tall dude lol
Are you able to make me a 2x2 layout for dc locomotives and dcc

@@SMTMainline maybe for n scale
Dawg I want friends in the hobby bro 😢
See if there are any train clubs locally.
How much does a layout like this typically cost? Minus the locos
Around $800 Canadian but much lower if you buy used supplies.
Getting ready to make my own any tips?
Yes, I'd suggest making a list of everything you want out of your layout before designing it. In other words do you prefer switching, running, scenery, what industries you want etc.
@@SMTMainlinemainly scenery
i wish i had HO but i have O scale and it’s way bigger and more expensive
Why british layout has DB rolling stock?
It's not a British layout, we were running random locomotives and the DB cars were the only ones with the correct couplers for the Jubilee.
Can't have a train set without an NR or 81
