6 Little Money Mindset Shifts You Need Right Now

  • The law of attraction and creating an abundance mindset isn't as hard to create as you might think -- even if the people in your life can only think in "scarcity." You can only control your own mind, so in this video, you'll learn 6 mental shifts you can make today to feel more abundant.
    1. Write Yourself A Fat Reality Check. Almost half the world lives on less than $2.50 per day. Realize that an abundance mindset begins with appreciating what you have right now. Like Oprah said, "Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough."
    2. Get An ATM, or Automatic, Transformative Mantra. To battle the scarcity mentality using the law of attraction, have a mantra on hand that you can say whenever you're parting with money. Something like this: "There's always more where that came from." This will shift you into an abundance mindset as there's real power in words.
    3. BYOL, or Bring Your Own Luxury. Who says you can't have nice dinners at home? A little bit of effort can turn a cheap dinner into a nice dinner, while also helping you get into the abundance mindset.
    4. Start A Fun Fund. You and your partner have to get on the same page, and a great way to do that is with a joint account or even a piggy bank dedicated solely to things like movies, meals out, travel, or other things you and your partner might normally say you can't afford.
    5. Build Your Knowledge Bank. Until you have your money game together and you're living an abundance mindset, you need to keep reading books on money, going to seminars, and listening to audios. You'll learn a ton and actively improve your money mindset.
    6. Spread The Wealth. Whenever you're feeling a lack of money, give some away. Make a donation to a charity you believe in to help shift you out of scarcity and into abundance.

HA!! I remember exactly where I was mentally, spiritually and emotionally when I wrote you this question Marie! 😅 I was sooooo stuck in scarcity! And you were 100% right, it wasn't about everyone else, it was about me. I had to change what was going on inside and I did. I continued the work even when it was sooooo hard and I didn't think anything would ever change. Your advice was helpful and I took it to heart and followed what I could. If this helps anyone watching I want you to know that I transformed my abundance mindset. 🎉 I now run my own business helping women transform their money mentality and grow their business (heading into my 5th year now), I make more money than I ever knew I could, I've been travelling the world full-time for the last 3 years, my life is my DREAM life and I am grateful everyday. 🙌 So don't give up. You are ALWAYS making progress, even when you think nothing is changing, it is. 💖

I gotta detox from being around ppl w/ poverty mindset. I need to shift that energy to abundance--- mindset 1) appreciate everything you have
    2) ATM Automatic Transformative Mantra there's always more where that came from---retrain yourself in the truth!!!
    3) Bring your own luxury- eat fancy meals @ home on the good plates
    4) Start a fun fund!!!-pickle jar movies, eating out, spa, shopping etc
    5) Build ur knowledge bank!! Go to seminars be around ppl actively improving
    6) if you're feeling lack,-- donate to someone, be generous to friends & family Kiva

I broke out of my money mentality with AFFIRMATIONS and BEING GRATEFUL, two things you mentioned! :) I also give a lot away to people all around me and often offer to treat my friends when having tea or what not. I am currently living with my parents still but I have EVERYTHING I need and want and the universe keeps giving me more. I am 23, if I can do this, anyone can. I strongly believe it starts with gratitude and self-love/positive thoughts.

Heidi Zakeri Yas! That’s the mentality. I feel like I always get more of what I give, not everything is perfect but I focus on the good things. If I don’t make a lot of money then I have to spend as lil as I can. So there are options like going out once or twice a week and the rest do other activities that do not involve that much money like eating at an expensive restaurant or going to the club 🤷🏻‍♀️

I love this video... My favorite tip is the ATM mantra "There's always more where that came from." I am sooo going to use this mantra with everything in my life. My husband and I will be celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary this June soo every time I give him a kiss or a hug I'm going to say to him There's always more where that came from rofl ;-) I know with just this tip alone my life is going to be filled with lots of hugs, kisses and overall wealth. Thanks Marie :-)

I have listened to this more than once, this time I am compelled to comment. I am working my way through my relationship with money. I have naturally put several of these steps into action. The BIGGEST thing I have done is let go of fear. I believe in myself and my abilities. I know I have the capacity to make more money.....but now I see it is not about the money, it is ALL about the attitude. At this moment, I barely make anything and I have never felt more abundant. As a result, more abundance will come to me.

I used to be stuck in money scarcity mindset. I found myself always saying, “I can’t afford it “. I stopped. I also realized that I always have what I need; food, shelter, an automobile in good working order, AND if I lose any of that, I know so many people in my life will cover me until I get back on my feet. Whenever I have to pay for something that I hate to, such as a red light camera speeding ticket, I reframe it as I write that check and just say, “ Well, I’m feeding the economy “, which means that it will come back to me somehow. I also spend money on concert tickets and travel whenever I want because I deserve to have fun. It’s my jam. I’ll fly to Denver to see a band at Red Rocks or Nashville just to see a band perform at the Ryman Theatre. I live for live music. I don’t even hesitate. And even though I do that, I always have enough.

Hi Marie, I can say that I'm one of those people who are making progress regarding my money mindset. Here's my progress below :)
    1. Write Yourself A Fat Reality Check (being grateful) = I can definitely do this more. I'm doing this 20% out of all my time (or even less--YIKES! Fixing this NOW!!!)
    2. Get An ATM, or Automatic, Transformative Mantra = My current mantras when I'm "parting" with money are "I get to do what I love and make money from it, even though I can use more. And these people may not be doing what they love so I feel right giving money to them in hope they get to be in my position too", "I have more money than most people in this world so I should share what I already have, no matter how much", "I love having money so I want to spread this love", "I'm happy that I have this much money, even though I can use more--just like anyone else". My mantras are along that line. Aside from that, I smile and call on the vibration of abundance silently every time. I will add "There's always more where that came from!" to my mantras!
    3. BYOL, or Bring Your Own Luxury = I DO THIS ALL THE TIME! I'm most happy when I'm juicing at home :) And I cook nice little lunches and dinners for myself. Although, I must say that sometimes I get tricked into the illusion by other people that eating out is fancier! But it's not! And I have to remind myself of this :)
    4. Start A Fun Fund = I have not done this at all! I've always been scarce with myself when it comes to fun. I've never dedicated a budget for "fun". I have been focusing on investing only in work-related activities. I should start doing this!!! Especially since my line of work is music and I can dedicate some funds into buying new equipment :)
    5. Build Your Knowledge Bank = I read up on books but not seminars since I'm afraid I'll run through some weird people into those seminars (you know those who are just way too crazy about money or praise money. I don't want to surround myself with those people).
    6. Spread The Wealth = I do this, YES! I do this to ensure myself, "Hey, I'm giving out money because I've been blessed with it. It's only right that I share my wealth and what I have, no matter how much."

Go work for a bank part-time, even if you have a full-time job too help pay some of your bills. Hard work always pays off. Most importantly, you will learn so much and see that so many other people have it worse than you. Knowledge is power and all of these steps Marie provided are great tips! When you are talking to people for hours about the checking accounts bouncing, fees, etc. it puts everything into a whole different light! It can be life changing! Good Luck to you!

This is good. I never had a scarcity mindset, but living around people who did and having little "energetic boundaries".... I absorbed their beliefs and had to fight just to keep them out and let my own take over. It's all good now. I hate buying cheap stuff, I hate eating low quality food/groceries, I hate not having fun, I hate settling for "good enough," I hate the false belief that "I can't afford it" (I can and it always seems to work out), etc. I find ways, there's always a way. It's sad... the people around me have a lot more than I do, quite literally, and they're stuck in that whole scarcity mindset and thinking that life is supposed to be incredibly hard. My dad actually GOT MAD when he was gifted vacation plane tickets for his birthday. I couldn't believe it. I thought about why he would feel that way, and I concluded it's because of his deep-seated beliefs that he doesn't deserve it, or that it shouldn't be that easy. Makes so much sense.

i really love that you mentioned to give some of it away! people think im crazy when i practice this exercise. when im done at work, i always tip out at the minimum but when i do really bad on certain nights, i give a little more then 10% (the required amount) people think im crazy but i always learn that when I put myself in this mind set that in order to have more of something you have to give it away and when i am a blessing, 10x more blessings will come back to me, i always find that i do better the next night at work and i make more $$ from tipping out generously. the more i give away, the more the universe starts to notice i am not stressing about not having enough money and that i am actually so confident in my belief that i end up getting more of it. works every time. lol

An optimist by nature, I try my best to really focus on what my husband and I do have; and how blessed we really are; but sometimes I have to admit I get pretty overwhelmed. Dear Marie,
I could just [{BIG HUG}] you right now!!! Thank you so much for answering that question!!!
I have used at least three of these strategies (I'm too excited now to think what they were, will watch again, need to just comment now), and use to share them openly with family and friends. They talked me out of it!!! (grrrrrrrrrr) Convincing me that I'm crazy, not realistic, got my head in the clouds and just don't have it straight!
I have had it!!! Im going back to my old good habits - and that's final!!! But what was I thinking anyway? Those people were not doing well for themselves in the first place! Why on earth did I listen to them an let them beat me into their stupid way of thinking, I will never know. It just does not make logical sense...
Thank you so much! I have been watching Marie TV for two years going on three now. Massive fan, keep going!
    Suzy

I have decided to be more generous in giving. I love your idea of treating friends coffee...etc. I have been rigid about keeping my money so much that I thought the less I spend the better. But your video helped me see that is not so. Thank you, Marie.

I can put #1,2,3, and 4 into action immediately. I donate to a charity every month. I don't see "spreading the wealth" happening.

i like this video...specially that ATM idea. There are two very important tools which I use to raise my money...1) financial knowledge(read books, listen seminars.. one of the best book is Rich Dad Poor Dad.)
2)financial Mentality (use law of attraction. create positive vibes. thing good to make things good) :)

Excellent video. So much helpful info. One of my fav ways to cease the scarcity mentality is gratitude. I notice the more I am grateful the things I may need show up- food money kindness patience etc. So I keep my complaints 2 a minimum & focus on gratitude & appreciation. Life is so much better.

Thanks Marie, this was great and so timely! And I agree with the comment below about adding a number 7. Hang out with people who have what you want, even if that is simply an attitude.
