@@Nightharrow Neither of your videos linked there mention off balance being a 70% heavy attack damage buff for the 7 seconds of uptime, meaning it is a ~22% heavy attack damage buff averaged over the fight (assuming the fight is of infinite length, it can be more or less than that 22% depending on the exact length of a real fight) which is the third most valueable heavy attack damage buff behind empower and Bastian’s unique heavy attack damage buff for fights 22 seconds or longer. For solo play at the least, even without the exploiter cp, off balance is 100% worth having especially because you can get minor vuln from a shock glyph, and elemental blockade isnt a significantly lower dps skill than fetcher infection. Off balance for heavy attack builds isnt about exploiter, but about the heavy attack damage buff. I cant speak to group play, but for solo content, off balance is worth prioritizing to bring on a heavy attack build.
So I don’t think the minor vuln argument is without merit, but I still question it being the best thing to do. Does it end up giving close to 100% uptimes in practice? Because if not that is something to consider. For solo play I’m much more inclined to recommend light armor for the shield, and that would mean running infallible aether, which would then give you the vuln. As for recommending off balance via wall for solo content, I’ll capitulate. I gave another set of parses a try and did find the damage to be significant enough to warrant a change. I do think several other things should probably be changed with it because the math isn’t that simple… You have the lost gcd from having to cast wall more often, and that seriously throws off the rotation. Enough that I would think dropping a skill would likely be a good idea. This wouldn’t be that bad of an idea since you probably want a shield or additional self heal anyway. Those gcds you loose are just heavy attacks though, so you have to add that in to the calculation of damage change. Also, if you miss that timer, it’s going to be completely lost. Something that I’m sure newer people will do and some more experienced players could have fun making a mini game out of. And lastly, while I do see a dps gain from off balance with the heavy, I’m not seeing a 70% increase. Given I have to small if a sample size, don’t recall if I check crit, etc… but it seems possible the increased damage is only applying to some of the ticks of damage. I saw a change from a -5,8k average damage heavy to a -8.5. Idk what’s going on there. TLDR: you’ve changed my mind and I think your right about wall being deserving of more attention. Also the math is more complicated than it seems (partially due in part to opportunity cost), and probably warrants further investigation. Thanks for taking the time to have a discussion.
@@Nightharrow Without a charged staff, the minor vuln uptime from a shock glyph is bad, but with a charged staff you will proc minor vuln every 4 seconds when your glyph goes off. With elemental wall, that does mean that sometimes you will proc off balance and vuln on the wrong target if your enchant hits the wrong thing, but in general, you have a 100% uptime on vuln on *something*. As for why it doesnt look like a 70% increase, I think that would be because percent damage bonuses are additive, unlike the multiplicative damage mitigation. So during off balance with only empower and off balance with no crits, you would get a 150% increase, but then crits are also another percentage change, and then berserk and slayer, and all of that is stacked on top of your flat damage bonuses from sets and base damage from stats. (I may be wrong about crits being calculated as a percentage bonus like other types, it may be multiplicative but I am unsure. The others are additive according to Skinny Cheeks)
So I know in no way this is optimal, but I really like the aesthetic of wood elf as my race. How much of a dps loss is it if I play one? Will the build still be viable for content? Also thanks for the great content!
My wife also loves wood elves, so I totally get it! I think the best thing to do would be to stack stam instead of mag. So for every option where you have a choice, choose stam. You can still stack spell power if you want, it’s up to you. You will likely need to run max stam and mag recovery food. I believe Jesters coins are what you want for that. Alternatively, don’t do anything, and you will loose 200 spell powe equivalent. Idk what that is exactly, probably 3k damage? Not more than 5k on a max theoretical parse of 120-125 k Either way, definitely still viable.
I feel like you're missing out in a big way by not using any abilities that cause off-balance (cliff racer / elemental wall). Heavy attacks against off-balanced enemies deal 70% more damage. Also, it's worth noting that slotting strategic reserve (red CP) and never pressing your ultimate is a great survival tool for solo play.
Yeah, you would think so, but in you check the comments you can see a pretty long discussion or two about it. Turns out, and idk why, it’s not that big of a deal. When I get some time I’ll do some testing and report back what’s going on.
Correct. With everything but winters revenge, you can hit it right when you start the heavy attack, and it will queue up. As long as you don’t hit something else, it will go off when the heavy attack completes. I’ll note that some friends where have heavy attack act weird today, so that could be random or a bug.
Awesome! So good has some recommendations for auto responses and one of them was “Please do!” I almost hit it. Lol. (For those that don’t know, Noni is are one of the awesome raid leads in our guild That Wasn’t the Boss).
Question ? Couldn't you replace sergeants mail with something like sunderflame, not only does it give raw dmg and crit chance, I personally don't think you need the HP and regen from mail as oaken gives you plenty in my opinion. Sunderflame would give easy access to guaranteed minor breach, which would allow perhaps replacing shalks with some other spell that doesn't have that delay, maybe something like elemental susceptibility as it gives guaranteed elemental procs and the glacial presence boosts dmg of chilled procs. Though I am not sure how much the DPS would suffer from this change.
Great questions, I’ll do my best to answer. Just keep in mind while some of my answers may basically be “unfortunately that won’t work” I think it’s a great idea to try new things, and you might discover something I haven’t tried. There are a lot of sets out there and when I made this and other videos at some point I have to say “this is what I have and I cant spend anymore time in this right now”. Ie it’s not that I have literally tried everything, that’s not really even possible with the number of permutations of everything. Basically anything you replace sergeants mail with is going to be a significant dps loss. If you want to swap out a set, you want to swap out the other one. Similarly with shaulks, it’s going to be one of your highest dps skills, so you basically never want to take it off you’re bar. Basically every class has some skill or way of doing damage that helps define them, for a warden it’s shaulks. You can run without it, but your going to be tying yourself in knots to get comparable damage. One thing that might help make the dps difference clear is when you read Sunderflame, it specifies a fully charged heavy. The sets that do not say that tend to give their damage to every tick of the lightning staff, which is why you loose so much damage with any other staff.
Yeah np. Biting aura - because so many of our skills are aoe Thaumaturge - because many of them are damage over times Weapons Expert because it’s a must on heavy attack builds Exploiter because it gives us more damage than anything else (it’s ~3% effective damage increase if I’m remembering correctly) I’ve had some people respond that some of the damaging effects do not function as their supposed to with cp, both with cp I have here and with some I don’t. That is unfortunately common in eso, and I have not tested each one of them individually. But I still think these are pretty close to optimal. I’ve never been able to test a difference at least on a full parse (and don’t have time to test 4+ different cps on 3+ skills).
I am curious how you would set this build up portals in VCR. I am on a portal team and usually use my sorc but would love to use my warden. I was thinking entropy, fetcher, winters, bird of prey and artic wind for a heal. Any advice would be appreciated!
I would personally keep the shaulks, they just hit so hard. If you don’t have someone to ele drain, go with the mag version. Seems like you know you can dot each crystal with fetcher and entropy. I guess maybe drop winters for shaulks and call it good. It could be the case that you want to wall then heavy for the burst (since you can do it to each crystal with essentially no down time on off balance). So then it would be keep up arctic blast & shaulks, fetcher + wall + heavy on each crystal. You could walk every other crystal and use the gcd to refresh your shaulks. I would have to try it out though tbh.
Hi! I love all of your content. But I have a question. If you don’t have a mythic item such as oakensoul. What could replace that and could you make a heavy attack build without oakensoul ring? Ty so much I really do appreciate your time :)
For a heavy attack build, there isn’t anything comparable, especially for solo content. The build will still work well for overland and will easily allow you to farm it though. The next best thing you can do is find a sources for empower. I would recommend mages guild. You need points in the last passive and then you need to cast a mages guild skill every 10 seconds. Rune or entropy both work.
Oh yeah, the nerfs where relatively small and you can always use basically any other set with sergeants mail. So you could stick with a heavy attack set like noble dualist, or the crag trial set (sry forgetting the name), or you can use relequen, or any other meta set that will proc well on a ha build (so not Whorl of the depths). I recommend a trial set if you can.
About the same if I’m recalling correctly, maybe more but you have to be in melee. Basically you can pair anything with sergeants mail, and there are many sets that parse within a margin of error of each other.
For sure, but I would argue that’s a separate issue of weight. And is going to vary by group. Like we decided the easiest thing to do for a vAS heavy attack group was have everyone in light for the pen.
Quick question: If Barbed trap is only on the bar for the Fighter's passive, would Camo Hunter be better due to the Savagery & Prophecy bump plus the Slayer passive?
Oakensoul is already providing all the buffs both Camo Hunter and Barbed Trap provide. Barbed Trap would thus be equal but with the ability to cast if needed. If you won't be casting it, there's no difference.
@@b.durben3183 you might want to just double check your crit damage, at least in one of the parses for this video I’m almost at the 125% crit damage cap. I think either way it’s fine for non optimized content, but if you are trying to bring your best for a trial you might only be getting 1-2 % more crit damage from that.
But what the point for using the best two ice skill abilities if you are not using a ice staff for more damage so this pretty much don't fit on warden with lighting staff and that is my opinion but good video.
I agree that I don’t like being chained to the lightning staff. I wish they would change it up but the way it works with those sets you have to use a lightning staff unfortunately.
Some people love it, some people hate it. I would try both and see how you do. I can tell you anecdotes of people doing better with and without it. I personally don’t use it. Sorry I can’t give you a hard answer.
Yep, that is actually a buff from what is called the “trial” “raid” or 21mil health dummies (there are a couple, the oldest is the iron atro). The dummy gives you a whole bunch of buffs that you would conceivably get from a fairly optimized raid group. It is just a way of getting an apples to apples comparison of Dps for a group setting.
Exploiter is useless in solo content without shock glyph+unstable wall to apply off balance. Wall is definitely better than winters revenge. Without a group, you don't even have a way to apply off balance on the build. Sub assault loses you a ton of pen in solo content, so while Fissure is weaker damage in group, I'd argue it's better overall so it doesn't drain stam, and it tends to breach anything the tank hasnt grabbed. Deadly Aim is better than biting aura because it makes that final pop of your heavy hit harder. And magic bear ? Wild bear is stronger simply due to the hemorrhaging. You can check my parse on my channel. Don't even have parsing food or exploiter or poison/flame glyph, and I hit 96k.
I cover much of this in the video, and people have gotten over 100k with this build. I’ve also tried out many of the same suggestions you have here. 94k was the highest I ever got on any of them, and that’s well within the margin of error. I see you are on console, you can easily get high crit on a parse and it account for ~7k Dps on a parse. If you try this build out, let me know what you get.
@@ohmoxide There is a long thread where Creative Excuses and I talk through off balance, I think that will catch you up there. I have just had a lot of issues reproducing effects anywhere near what it shows on paper, which with zos makes me question things. lol. Trap would probably be good, especially after the nerfs to it. Although I wonder if swapping in Blockade wouldnt be better for most situations?
How about the added damage effect? After dealing damage you increase your Weapon and Spell Damage by 100 for 10 seconds, which quadruples after damaging Off Balance enemies.
I mean, I’m sure 99% of that is user error on my part or crit farming. You get a lot of variance with heavy attack builds. I would check the crit percentage on the pc parses to see if they are getting 75% crit on their heavies. Normally on a 120k ish parse you can get ~7k more on good crit, could be more, and heavy attacks are more prone to that. Also I was thinking blockage would be better in that situation, so you could get more heavies off.
@@Nightharrow I’m more consistent with the Warden 98-100. My Sorc varies 96-102. UWall pop is hit early because this skill set rotation is repeated. Shalks UWall bees bear, then shalks wall trap arctic, repeat. Bird can replace trap for more range, but still close enough for arctic.
102k is doable in PS with this exact build except that I switched Slimecraw's mask to guise, since you need 1700 pens to hit the cap with the dummy. Rest is rotation and UWall. With HA builds the most dps comes from queuing skills while heavy attacking. Don't cast two skills in row without a heavy attack in the middle
First i wanna clarify that it's just a serious question, not a bashing, hating whatsoever. But is there like really anybody who gets even near those numbers? I have the EXACT same gear the exact same skills doing the exact same rotation the only difference is 3 of my pieces don't have divine yet, whatever and i don't have 500 cp in blue only 200 atm but you can't tell me the 4% here and 5% there will get me outer space cause I'm barely hitting 40k more likely 35-40 and i tried many other builds with same results I'm never get even close to 60 the highest number i ever saw was 45k doing the same stuff some people on RUclips do. I don't really care too much because I'm healer main and running successfully some of the hardest dungeons, and even when I'm on 40k only i can easily do questing and solo world bosses or vet arenas but cmon it's ridiculous not to know how this can be.
I feel you. I never thought i would get over 30k. So the issue with parsing is that it is 70%-80% your proficiency, and 20%-30% skills/gear/setup. So it’s speed & timing of light attacks, rotation, all that good stuff. But yes, people really do some crazy damage. If you would like help, I would suggest coming by the twtb discord server linked in my channel page. If you drop a parse i. The dps help channel we can give you tailored advice to help you out and explain what you might be doing wrong. Typically advice like this will get you tens of thousands of damage in short order, if your willing to work on it of course. If you are on console it’s a lot trickier because you don’t have addons. I know some discords will have people record their parses. Anyways, just realize this is a common thing, but with some help you can totally get there. Just as an aside I just wanted to say thanks for saying something. I’ll make sure to talk about this briefly in my parse sections moving forward so others don’t have this and confusion. While I try to avoid it, sometimes you forget what you learned along the way.
@@Nightharrowfirst of all thanks for the answer. To clarify, i still think your video stands out a bit because i felt like the person speaking is trying to get me to understand what I'm watching and not only want me to copy stuff without anything else. After my first confusion and frustration cooled down a bit I'm fine again with the stuff i have. I don't like using add-ons because i don't want too much stuff on my screen for the immersion. Tbh i don't care too much about numbers and most important, like i already mentioned I'm playing a healer and my healing is fine. Im successfully running vet hm dungeons and will try vet trials in the future and also i have no real problem whatsoever with doing normal dungeons with my other loadout as hybrid healer with my 40k dps as you can tell because it's still easy and it only maybe take few minutes longer. My main problem was purely the frustration because i farmed gear the last couple of days, copied builds, spend money and time in game just to not get even close to the numbers i was seeing and i MAY not time everything perfect, sure, but im playing mmos since 2004 so i would call myself good or at least above casual even though im "newish in eso" therefore i could swallow a 20-30k dps drop but not fucking 50-60 you know? Well long story short i still was informed by your video and like the fact you clarified some things so i hope to see some interesting stuff in the future. Have a nice day and take care.
Yep, the only real change I can think of is they nerfed the stamina shaulks to no longer have major breach, so if you need penetration, you want the magical costing version.
I can't find deadly aim online, did you mean deadly strike? Someone said lightning lost the buff that made it good (I'm new, can't recall what he said) and warden do more damage with ice or something is that not right? @@Nightharrow

I do think several other things should probably be changed with it because the math isn’t that simple…
You have the lost gcd from having to cast wall more often, and that seriously throws off the rotation.
Btw I’ll make a note of this and pin it soon. With proper credit of course. Thanks again.

Thank you was about to delete my warden intil I seen this it’s peeked my interest again it will be an awesome over land solo WB farmer now 😊
Glad I could help! I love my warden, and it’s good to see others enjoying them!
Not more than 5k on a max theoretical parse of 120-125 k
Either way, definitely still viable.
So never take my finger off the attack button, and just press the skill button right before the heavy attack ends?
Correct. With everything but winters revenge, you can hit it right when you start the heavy attack, and it will queue up. As long as you don’t hit something else, it will go off when the heavy attack completes.
I’ll note that some friends where have heavy attack act weird today, so that could be random or a bug.
I will be changing things today. Thanks.
Great video ❤ please explain blue tree more so many options why your choice of those??
Yeah np.
Biting aura - because so many of our skills are aoe
Thaumaturge - because many of them are damage over times
Weapons Expert because it’s a must on heavy attack builds
Exploiter because it gives us more damage than anything else (it’s ~3% effective damage increase if I’m remembering correctly)
I’ve had some people respond that some of the damaging effects do not function as their supposed to with cp, both with cp I have here and with some I don’t.
Just remember you cannot use Oakensoul on bar swap round:)
Pretty sure you can, you just unequip your ack bar weapon.
@@Nightharrow say what? You won’t get the blue kill everyone screen of death if you don’t have a backbar weapon???? I hope this is correct:)
I haven’t tested it but that’s what I’ve been told. Could be they got a lucky run or two? Let me know if you try.
@@Nightharrow Omg! Ty so much! ^_^
Hi, is this still a good build to go for with the Stormaster nerf please?
Oh yeah, the nerfs where relatively small and you can always use basically any other set with sergeants mail. So you could stick with a heavy attack set like noble dualist, or the crag trial set (sry forgetting the name), or you can use relequen, or any other meta set that will proc well on a ha build (so not Whorl of the depths). I recommend a trial set if you can.
@@Nightharrow Fab, thank you x
What about noble duelist instead of storm master is there a big damage difference or would it be negligible?
About the same if I’m recalling correctly, maybe more but you have to be in melee. Basically you can pair anything with sergeants mail, and there are many sets that parse within a margin of error of each other.
ND is weaker in groups due to the dmg/crit dmg boost from medium armor. But it's stronger in solo due to the pen bonuses from light armor.
I cast it. It provides a little more damage than not, but def camo hunter would work.
Oakensoul is already providing all the buffs both Camo Hunter and Barbed Trap provide. Barbed Trap would thus be equal but with the ability to cast if needed. If you won't be casting it, there's no difference.
@@user-im3jz7ny5i that’s a very good point. I’ll be honest, I often have to check what buffs Oakensoul gives. It’s a list the length on my arm.
I seen that after rechecked the ring buffs lol. I added Deceptive Predator for the minor evasion I think it's called along with another 4% crit chance
Hi Where is reflex in the red tree thanks
Um, I’m sorry I’m not following
@@Nightharrow hi if you look at your card your cp fitness and you have flex on there
Hi
Slottable red cp fortified, flex, expert evasion, rejuvenation. Cannot find flex
Oooohhhh, so what I meant by that is that it’s a “flex” spot. You can put anything you want there, as there is not an obviously best choice.
Thank you
Should I turn off Perfect Weave?
Some people love it, some people hate it. I would try both and see how you do. I can tell you anecdotes of people doing better with and without it. I personally don’t use it. Sorry I can’t give you a hard answer.
@@Nightharrow My weaving sucks no matter what, so I probably just drop it, lol
Why is it that every video like this they have a templar off-screen using blessed shards?? Am I missing something?
Why not Dive?
Just not enough bar space. What would you swap it out for?
@Nightharrow Trap?
Are you expecting party members to set target off balance?
@@ohmoxide There is a long thread where Creative Excuses and I talk through off balance, I think that will catch you up there. I have just had a lot of issues reproducing effects anywhere near what it shows on paper, which with zos makes me question things. lol.
Trap would probably be good, especially after the nerfs to it. Although I wonder if swapping in Blockade wouldnt be better for most situations?
How about the added damage effect?
After dealing damage you increase your Weapon and Spell Damage by 100 for 10 seconds, which quadruples after damaging Off Balance enemies.
@@Nightharrowgoing to go. Read that thread now.
My 1bar Warden Oak does 100k+ on Xbox. PC players have hit 102k. UWall, dFissure, fetcher, arctic, BTrap, wildG
Fissure Wall 2 skills, fissure wall skill bear, repeat. Never let off HA
Okay cool. Btw, trap is the same range. You drop it 2.5m in front of you and then it has a 2.5 range to proc
Is this still viable?
Yes, but the optimal setup for all heavy attack builds is deadly strike & sergeants mail. So just swap deadly in for whatever I had recommended here.
Is this still relevant?
Yep, the only real change I can think of is they nerfed the stamina shaulks to no longer have major breach, so if you need penetration, you want the magical costing version.
@@Nightharrow sweet ty, and gear?
Is ice better now?
Heavy attack best sets now are Deadly Aim and Sergeants Mail. Still want a lightning staff.
I can't find deadly aim online, did you mean deadly strike? Someone said lightning lost the buff that made it good (I'm new, can't recall what he said) and warden do more damage with ice or something is that not right? @@Nightharrow
Lmao insane damageeee
Lol you sound like your taking shots at specific people
Nah, I think you might just be thinking of people who do this. It’s a lot. I think many of the smaller creators are new and don’t know any better, so they will copy what they see.
Not saying you was it just some of the words you chose to use that's all
