The camera makes the roads definitely look narrower than they are. But I think the US roads are generally a little more spacious. Truckers never have enough, since they're asked to haul such long and wide loads, but it usually is a little more roomy though.
Used to deliver into West London and West-central, within Whitechapel for a production company (film and TV stuff) and boy I am SO glad I switched jobs. Now do local work, no motorways, no parking attendants and no traffic Wombles (HATO's) for a fender bender.
That particular road needs a dedicated truck/bus lane for extra large transport vehicles. It's shocking they don't route you around a different path and expect you to somehow squeeze down the road. Because just as you were reacting, even though the cab fits, the trailer has to follow the cab. And around the turns, it could have impact with a four-wheeler. That's poor planning on the city. And since your goods keep the city alive, they should find a better way to accomodate tractors and semis.
Really enjoyed this one and no apologies needed for the length or traffic jams because that is clearly what London is all about. Wife and I always watch you and already looking forward to the next one. Take care, drive safe and hi to Mrs Jenko from us. Richard and Karen in wet Brisbane 😀
Like that delivery you did with Keedwells when that guy told you to go away, think that was the same type of load too if I remember rightly, cheers for the shout-out in your live vid too. Nice to see Gavin make an appearance as well in the chat.
Thanks 👍 again Martyn for posting this video on walk around check and did you see the 143 Topline video and Claire was on it and keep up the good work 💯 that you are doing and stay safe.
Well ! That was fun ( for me ! ) well done on the London drive . As a Londoner , I’ve done vast amounts of miles in and around London first in Lorries , then 40’ coaches and for the last years of my working life in a Transit . It got progressively worse as the years went by . What used to be a fun challenge become a chore even in a transit . Traffic , cyclists , motor bikes , traffic wardens etc has made delivering in London a bloomin’ nightmare now . So , so glad I retired 8 years ago . I have no intention of driving in London now . Ever . You handled it well !! But I really enjoyed the drive with you , things have changed , for the worse , since I last drive there . And all that driving , for sweet Fanny Adam’s …….
As you said to me at Gordano last Thursday morning, that was a bloomin nightmare!! Bloomin great video as usual tho!! See you in the next one, toodles!!
Thank you for the London tour😉 I did spot the Natural History Museum on the left set back a bit after the idiot with the tail lift down! After watching this I will stop complaining about the traffic through Yeovil in a 24 foot long rigid curtain sider 😳 that's a doddle compared to London😂 have a good Thursday, Friday and weekend, see you in Saturday's video. Yes the Cenotaph is where the main Remembrance parade is held, not sure what the other memorial just before it was, could have been the Bomber Command memorial
Hi Mate i do this run once a year in a car and it stress. Ok its late January on a Sunday at 9am but still not good then coming out a 1pm need eyes every where. You taking the truck respected feel your pain.
Thank you for the mid week Martyn. And, as for the London trip, you can have it. Haha! Its the only way I'll ever see any of it, so thanks for that though. Take care. You and Claire be safe. Cheers! Todd Konoske the retired trucker.
Thank you Martin. Great video for me Enjoyed it. But What a day for you. Will you be rushing back to London Didn’t see you Stop at. Harrods to pick up a little gift for Mrs T C (Claire ) to Show her you had a lovely day in London. 😂😂. Spent half my Childhood in London. In the. 50. Only go down to London buy Train now. Really felt sorry for you. Thanks again Take care and Stay safe and safe Trucking. Toodles.
What a joy London is. An absolute pain of a city to try and deliver into. A complete shambles. What a complete idiot of a driver reversing toward you with something on the tail lift. Complete clown. Who the heck would want to drive in London. Incredible. How you manage to stay so calm is amazing in these ridiculous traffic jams. Brilliant job there Martyn. What a complete b..... waste of time after all the messing about getting there. These organisations should be charged double time for the excessive number of hours being kept waiting around. So so frustrating!! Hope Claire had a much better day than your day Martyn. Stay safe both and take care.
Hello Jenkins When You Hitch Up To A Trailer You Check Around The Trailer Check The Bar Accross The King Pin &Do you Check The Load Then Check If The Bar Across The King Pin From David Walter Poole (Snowy) Safe Trip
1:01:40 - that's not Parliament, that's St Margaret's church; Parliament is behind you across the square. Seems a very odd route both in and out - I'd have thought you'd have been better off going via Hyde Park Corner, Constitution Hill, then the Mall. And definitely not along Victoria St on the way back; instead of reversing you could have gone ahead onto the Embankment, then left along Northumberland Ave back to Trafalgar Square. Assuming they're all open at the moment. Also, how did you manage to see the flag on Parliament from St James St? You must have x-ray vision :)
Great vlog agree London is a real pain, I hate delivering to it. Hope you don't get a fine from TfL for entering a bus lane near Harrods when you swung around that traffic waiting to turn right. You and the Mrs take care on them roads.
Jenko: Great video, of you trip to London: especially all the scenery! You were mad, to pay a fine, for another persons' ignorance: you should have taken it to the small claims court. Take Care/
Rather you than me Martyn rather you than me especially in London. It’s hard enough in a car let alone an artic! My dad always said ‘if you hit one red in London you’ll hit the lot red’. He didn’t drive in London very often either! Bloody good vlog though x
Hi Martyn , i received a fine for a similar incident in Croydon..I appealed it and only had to pay half..still annoying though…but regarding Central London…Chelsea football club is as central I wanna go in an artic..that was enough for me 😂..hat’s off for your patience mate 👍🏻loved this vlog though and thanks again for another weds vlog…stay safe pal
Calm as ever. Don't know how you do it. Did it a few times over a couple of years in a rigid and that was enough for me. Great video, and just as I remember it. No apologies needed for the edits, it's a true account of the jams. Keep up the good work. Those last few speed bumps at the end had me clenching! Think we've all been there!! 😅 Cheers Gruff
Another cracking video Martyn! I certainly would have sworn at that idiot reversing with his tail lift down ,Numpty!! Haven’t driven a HGV through London since the mid nineties! Funny don’t miss it at all!😂What a waste of a day and all that stress for nothing! At least you get to meet up with Claire! Keep up the good work and keep safe both of you! 😀🚛🚛
Martyn, a real good informative vlog on all the joys of trucking for a new or would be trucker. hope the stress levels soon got bac to normal for you. hope Claire had a good day. both take care and stay safe
You might have been better turning right off the A4 when you was behind the blue Bentley and going down past where Earls Court was all the way down to the river then along The Embankment
The fine for the box infringement! Yes, you should have appealed, yes, you would have had it turned down, but you can appeal further and the chances are it will be dropped. The main reason for this is that it will cost more to take you to court or admin costs than they will get in fines! I did this when I went through Bath and got done for entering the CAZ. I know a guy who ex police SOCCO and he says you can get a lot of minor offences dropped this way!
Hi Martyn, I am going to be training on C+E soon, I enjoy watching yourself and the other Road Legends for help in driving Class 1. You were over 4 hours parked outside where you were meant to deliver but on double yellow lines and double stripes on kerb, how do you get to do that, if it is no loading / unloading at any time. I feel for you driving into London then have to bring the load back out again.
Sites can apply to the council and ask for a blanket permission to park generally costs a site ££££'s. Some don't and these ones sort of rely on the discretion of the Parking Attendant on duty. Which means the driver's attitude comes into play. A bad attitude and that ticket is going on the windscreen quicker than Usain Bolt out of the blocks.
Great vlog. The traffic in London us flaming nuts. Your a brave man. I was there as a tourist and for the amount of people is to busy for me and the tube is on another planet. Great watch
You have the patience of a saint. What would happen, I wonder, if all the trucking companies and delivery services refused to go into London unless the roads and rules were made more trucker friendly. If they all stuck to their guns it wouldn't take long before something changed.
Gosh Martyn, what a day you had, but I must say I loved the London tour, living in a rural area seeing London is a treat, not that I want to move there!! Thanks and take care.
Thanks Martyn for a wonderful scenic tour of London, we saw ; Natural History Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, Harrods, Trafalgar Sq, Horse Guards, 10 Downing St, Parliament, London Eye, Big Ben, ... we didn't miss much, cheers, Garry from DownUnder
I’ve only been to London five times in my life! I’m 63 years old and it won’t worry me if I never go there again. I cannot stand the place! You certainly did very well on the driving front Martin, total credit to you.
Enjoyed the vlog Martyn as you said what a waste of a day it must be so frustrating driving all the way down there and having a load refused. I hope Claire had a nice easy shift for her birthday not to stressful. Stay safe and take care guys.
@@TruckerJenko Great thanks, will let you know how I get on. Had refresher class 2 last week and was told 4 days training class 1 i should be ok to pass.
really really awesome vlog. I have a mercedes actros awesome cab to live in and i am glad i don't have to go into london. Keep up the videos and fair play for surviving driving in london
Don't apologise. I love the London ones than the normal drop and tip. Living in Manchester, I thought we had some idiot drivers, but London seems to have the monopoly of them :) :) Just got to the part where they're not taking any deliveries. Cannot believe it. Then again, it is a Government building they're working on. That says it all
Just subscribed to your channel most enjoyable . It must really take all your patience to drive in London. Personally I wouldn't drivr there if they paid me.
Hi Martyn, cannot say enough times, what a relief when I hung up my card and said "No more London's". Don't quite understand the modern way, of never seem to have time for a toilet break or something to eat? seems counter productive to good health & wellbeing. stay safe both & enjoy your evening. You'll sleep well after today.

If it wasn't for the stress of the driving, it looks like a nice city to visit!
Love the sign language you shared with your fellow trucker! Just oblivious to your rig being there.

Pity about the wrong plasteboard but what a good video of how to deal with a city centre drop with skill and patience. Jenko is a real Pro
lovely drive through london great views thanks jenko
Loved the trip to London , also loked the timelapse with the sounds of witchcraft very catchy tune thanks
I had Bishopsgate one week then the next Cannon Street, Salters Square.

No need to say sorry for long clips, I find them very good giving us a proper look at your trip in.
