Awesome video! I am looking to purchasing this same press to decap my brass.

It works great once you get it setup right. Thanks for watching.

@@jesseboutdoorsreloading thank you!! Your video was helpful with helping me decide to go this route. I just placed an order for it and also ordered the universal decapping die.

Nice job on the video. My process is essentially the same. The APP rocks for depriming and sizing brass and bullets. I stuck some short pieces of PEX tubing in the holes of the collator to help prevent upside down cases. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸

I use the same process. I universal decap and then tumble. As you stated, it keeps your resize dies cleaner and free from damage.

Nice video. I do not know how I survived all these years without this inexpensive tool. The washer is what I have done also. I clean all of my range pick-ups first to remove the sand and rocks in a bucket with some detergent for about 10-15 mins swishing around. sun dry then place all the brass in a container and spray with my alcohol/lanolin lube for easier operation, then clean the die at end of each sizing procedure with some spray gun cleaner. I use my Lee sizing die and can size and deprime about 800-850 cases per hour without any trouble, thanks to the lube making it easier and faster for me. Die instructions say to not use lubes, but I have never had any complication over 40 years of reloading, as long as everything is kept clean. This press has many uses for different operations. If I were a real shooter would have one set up for each caliber, bolted to my bench. I have used my APP for over a year now, weekly and have zero problems with any part or function. I noticed your Lee mold boxes as I have many also, and am still wishing to stumble across a 9mm Hollow Point mold, if anybody knows of one. Thanks for your time.

I have been thinking about getting one of these cheap chintzy Lee Auto Processing Presses just to do the de-capping process only, cause I hate the idea of trashing out a good press with the de-priming phase. Or I could even get a Hornady or other type Lee auto indexing progressive press if their quality is far better. Basically, I just want a press to de-prime on that can auto feed the cases as well as auto eject them into a container before cleaning them.

Wish mine ran that smooth. I have to keep pulling the red follower back so the case will drop. Used a nickle for spacing.

      Is your spring binding?

    • @madewithscraps
      @madewithscraps 2 месяца назад

Your nickel is too thick. 1/16" for spacing. I use a fender washer. Lots of profanity and patience with fine adjustments will fix your red follower situation. Also keep the red follower clean, including the plastic under it, lube those areas with dry lube spray. I went thru the same thing initially. Once you get this going, will never understand how you went without it for so long.

Here's a tip if you're having issues with the crab claws on the case shuttle not opening and closing properly.
The rectangle slot on the front side of the shuttle, just to the right of the spring mount,
Cut a thin strip of THIN cardboard like from a pack matches or THIN flap from a box top.
make the strip wide enuff to fit snug, fold it to length of the height of the slot.
Make 2-4 folds as needed to make it fit snug but not too tight.
Slide it in from the top, bend the single layer tail over to keep it from falling down in the slot, and cut it short enuff to not catch on the spring.
A little trial n error, and you will be amazed at how better the crab claws work.
If you take the shuttle off and work it in your hands, you'll see what this shim does.

Cut half inch pieces of PEX plumbing pipe and put in the holes of the collator stops them from going down backwards.

Thanks for the info. I’ve done the washer trick to it and very far and few in between one will sneak by upside down. Thanks for watching.

I would rather clean them before putting them on the reloading bench.
That way I can just size & deprime.
Cleaning hand gun primer pockets has not been a concern of mine. Going back to when the Dillon (4) station 550 Press first appeared as a reference. It was not a concern prior to the invention of the 550z

How do you not get case jams with that much space between the tube and the actuator? I was told it should be a coin’s thickness and no more. My actuator keeps binding up and won’t go all the way forward.

Hey Jesse, have you ever had 9mm with smaller than normal flash holes ? I bought a bunch of NORMA 9mm direct a couple of years ago, and for whatever reason they seem to have smaller flash holes. I had so much trouble de-capping them with my Frankford Arsenal hand deprimer. I used to sit and watch TV and go through a bunch at a time, but when it came to these it was a no go. Good job, keep em coming with the reloading.

Norma 9mm brass is always a pain with the smaller metric flash holes. For a while, before I collected a stash, was actually chucking them un in my lathe and drilling the flash hole to proper size-5/64". You can purchase smaller decapping pins for certain brand decapping or sizing dies.
