    • @RobotShield
      @RobotShield 3 года назад +21

@@informitas0117 everything is a trade off, if you start players at 0 elo for example there will be new players/accounts can crush these lower elo players and the lower elo player won’t have anything they can do.
So short term, yes lower elo players would fight similar level players perhaps a bit quicker.
But long term they will always have new players/accounts coming and crushing them.
If you use the current system, lower elo players have a worse start getting crushed. But in the long term they will only ever end up playing against other lower elo players. It keeps them safe.
I prefer option 2, but obviously pros and cons all round.

LEL is probably the best thing outside from the game itself to happen to Age. Ranked scares you off so quick from online play and the game as a whole, yet this series has not only made me confident to come back and persist, but also bring variety to how one plays the game, showing that you don't need to follow a specific build order or meta strats to have fun and win.. not to mention sparking names in the community that have become well known.

@@Toonrick12 It's also a factor that a lot of medieval gunpowder munitions were made from stone, which can't be properly heated the same way iron shot can be, and the logistics and danger of managing a furnace to heat the shot before it is loaded in the weapon. Having red-hot metal balls carried around the same space as loose black-powder is generally not a good idea, and artillery at that time was notoriously dangerous even when not trying to juggle hot ammo.

not gonna lie, I love watching low elo legends for the comedy aspect. I find the matches far more entertaining than high elo. Especially when we get true 'Legends' like iSit or Wall

Not sure if you'll see this comment 2y after the fact, T90, but I'm one of those LEL-playlist avid followers. I rediscovered AOE2 as a thirty-odd year old after having been obsessed with it back in the days where I played it on my family's desktop. For work I use a mac, so there hasn't been much incentive for me to get a windows machine to play it again. But watching other low-skill players (such as myself) try, and laughing at your commenting over the videos is priceless. I think at some point I might take a step of getting myself a mini-PC to play, but it feels like a big investment for a single game (which I won't even have that much time to play lol).
    Anywho, just thought I'd share a low-elo enthusiast's perspective!

It's the building more barracks and siege workshops when the current ones aren't even busy at all that gets me lol. Pretty fun to watch though.

This game turned into the funniest game I have ever seen. From him spending hundreds of wood on siege workshops when he just needed more siege to red looking for the sheep with a villager !

There’s something about knowing how to play and seeing people not utilize all their assets makes it entertaining to watch. Like watching a beginners chess game, you know what to do but then everyone goes about it in their own weird way hahaha

Ah yes, my fave AoE commentators still going juicy in this era and that's wonderful.
    T90 in AoE II DEF.
    Aussie_Drongo in AoE III DEF.
Who's the top commentator in AoE I ? if there's one. So I can complete my collection of content.

@ 14:45 If the Militia Man is the bouncer, that venue must be "The Tower Club" - a very prestigious place to drink and dance with the danger of being close to the enemy. Classy! ✨🎶

There absolutely are. I've been playing AI only since 2000, and I'm still not really bored with this game. I just take a break for a few months and play a few different games to give me some variety. Always come back though, it's still that good.
