So are you going to have to pull the tune back out and drive it the 800 miles break in period before running a tune again and running it on the dyno again?
I have a Engine in the back yard that i dream 2 repair it one day ..i hope i can ddo it with u gys ..dreaming dont cost nothing ...from all the years you guys give me hope again
FYI people! .0015 thousands is the EXTREME tight side for side seal to corner seal clearance. Not recommended if you're using FACTORY corner seals as the side seal expansion can expand enough to break the corner seals in half. This built engine runs the solid corners. That's why they're getting away with such tightness. With factory corner seals the range is .002-.006.
Sorry if this has been asked and answered already. Why did the B blow? Too much boost for the fuel? Love seeing this stuff. Such a simple machine.(Rotary engine.)
Oh the memes, the wonderful memes Forgot to add, so since you are learning all this..... do i foresee a four rotor built by micky and the king of coke/Twix
Hey Mickey I've got a question on how you acquired your 20b, was it a certain website? I've been searching and I'm hesitant on purchasing one from iffy looking websites
Were there any physical damages done to any of the components (seals, housings, rotors, bearings, irons etc..) with the "V" spike? What was the indication on the dyno that something was amiss?
now you taught a old dog new tricks never worked on a rotatory engine though my dad had done several said when we got one in he would teach me the tricks to put one together but one never did show up to do one so this is a first for me. he used to call them the wankel engines instead of rotatory but he did say it was a rotatory type engine.
yeah because the A-10 has the honors as the Braaap machine.so only rotatory was left since it sounds like a machine gun when it two steps.and Mazda perfected the Wankel they can never claim they designed it since Mazda bought the patent from Wankel.and to the old hands it will be forever known as the Wankel.
@@julianray299 might have been a 4 rotor. But it was big enough to technically* be legal in formula1 displacment rules. But light enough to out brake everything
Is there a larger cubic inc rotary housing available? Is that even a thing? What I mean is, instead of make a rotary engine a three rotary in order to make more power/more cubic inch, is there a larger rotary to make it a three rotary, but it’s really still a two rotary?
Why didnt you do the big pirt on the intake? I know you lose some reliability and some overlap but not that much. Itd be worth it. And machine some weight out of those rotors
Did I miss a video explaining what damage actually happened to the engine itself? Not the spike but actual damage to housing, seals etc... Wondering why your buying everything new?
Nah bridgeport is pretty common in street cars, peripheral ports or monster ports are more of a race motor suited port. Essentially the bigger your intake ports are, the bigger your exhaust port needs to be , which means your exhaust has to be more free-flowing, which can make them extremely loud and just not usable on the street.
@@OverdriveMediaNZ yeah i know what brideport is all about & peripheral but bridgeport is kinda the border of using the car in the street and have a nice drivable car right?? Brideport does cost the car to run with a high idle (1k or higher) or lumpy idle (classic brap rotary sound) + killing the low end grunt or basically the usable rpm range which is around 2k - 4k which is most street cars mostly do need..
Bye guys I enjoyed all your videos but just cant keep watch them in honor of my friend Tim Sheets that lost his life two days ago. Best of luck in all you guys do.
Whens the vr4 vids gonna start coming back up? Way too many vids of the bad apple and honestly getting tired of it Also can't wait for the mr2 build to start
No flow bench required, rotary ports are well understood. Just a good template and someone experienced to give some pointers. The biggest gotcha is finishing the edges so you don't clip the seal
@@RedBatRacing I get that but still. Would be nice to flow it before and after just to if it actually did anything but rotary ports are pretty straight anyway right? So I'm that case I guess it's easier because you're just enlarging it. Ive never worked on a rotary so
@@austinkenworthy5844 yes it would be interesting to get empirical data, but your right they are pretty straight, the dyno will tell you how they flow. The research on port timing has been done to give you a template but simply the bigger they are the higher the rpm is for peak torque and more peak HP but roughs up the idle... until they are so big the seals fall out :)
I hate adding my two cents on someone else's build however you're putting all this work into porting out the exhaust ports and everything else for performance yet you aren't going to do the water jacket mods? I understand there's probably 8 hours worth of modification into those ports at least however that's really not a quote-unquote performance mod that is a quote-unquote reliability mod which in my mind is far more important then doing an exhaust port especially when you don't want to race car. And exhaust Port is for power / performance it's not for reliability / efficiency however the coolant modifications are for reliability efficiency see where I'm coming from?. Not trying to sound like a dick or an a****** or some idiot stepping on someone else's build. I'm just saying reliability / efficiency is far more important then a performance mod like porting the exhaust port.
Please never take offense to my comments ever. I love the channel, love the work definitely appreciate you guys sharing what you do keep at it my friend!!
Keep it up boys 🚗🚗🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thanks! We’ll try 😏🤟
Shut up Jayrod

Ice_wallow_come6969 🤔...........Alright
Headliner in that RX8 looks nasty.
I wish you guys were around when I had my rx-7. I would have learn so much from you guys. you guys are awesome keep up the good work
Yes! More rotary rebuild videos to aid me in my winter rebuild. 👍🏻🔥
Glad to see some rotary content! Good work gentlemen!
Love this vlog!!! So much knowledge bout rotary engines internal workings!!! Thanks Mickey & DNA Garage
Didn't think it was possible to go even more Mickeyspec on this car but you've outdone yourself 😂
you guys should do the ridges on the water jacket to keep that overbuilt theme throughout the car !
Gonna get them stains out of the head liner?
Enjoying the vids..... John needs a Mickey spec shirt....
The amount of knowledge Mickey provides us is unbelievable and greatly appreciated
Daaaaaaaaang the 8 was sittin pretty slammed 😍😍
Why aren't you using the same housings ??
possibly cracked spark plug bosses? they looked fine at quick glance, i also would like to know
I simply wanted to use new ones. There was some very minor wear that I didn’t want to chance.
@@mickeyandrade3435 good call
How awesome is it that you get to learn such a unique trade, Hell Yea 🤘🏻🃏
Keep breaking it! Its fun to watch the mickey spec craziness!
That's cool you guys are giving the rx8 a last look before you hand it away. Good work ethic.
What happened to the car SUCKS! but the knowledge you are gaining is PRICELESS! 👌
Black label housings have been aged longer in smoked oak barrels... gives a refined flavour to the rotary exhaust
Red Bat Racing 🤣
Loving the content keep up the great work Mickey been a fan of the bad apple since day uno
Hell Yeah bro learnin about the B13 rotary then in the future ya can build one Niccee
So are you going to have to pull the tune back out and drive it the 800 miles break in period before running a tune again and running it on the dyno again?
Thanks for the early upload!
Next project! 20b rx8 🙏
When are you putting the new rims?
Rotaries are so cool, so interesting to watch this. Awesome video as always!
Love these Mickey Videos! I learn so much!
Haha spongebob teeth breaking eyeballs. Awesome work Mickey. Takes a decent time to port doesn’t it.
Omg I was waiting for this rotory
Fly down to Okinawa, JP. There are tons of rotary guys that would love to meet you.
I love the background music...
Anyone else see the trailer for NFS Underground 3? 👀 great btw content boys!

I find it funny how pretty much every porting video I watch nobody is ever using an aluminum cutting bit. Makes life a ton easier.
I love what you guys do. One day I’ll be able to finish something instead of having to sell it early to pay bills 🤦♂️ BFL.... (broke for life)
I only can say one thing ...You are ..Blessedddddddddddddddddddd
Many people dont like this content but to me this is priceless content! Keep it up #mickeyspec #rotarylife
Throtl ViP squad 👍😊
Those housings are for s4 turbo? Where did you mount the knock sensor? Is it necessary with an after market ECU?

I know you said you leaned out on the dyno & the injector electrical issue but damn what’d you crack both housings?
C. Patrick - Nah, housings were good. I just wanted to put in new parts.
Sorry you had to do the process again brother but repetition breeds competence and competence breeds confidence and confidence kicks motherfuking ass

The engine is rotary, not rotatory, and Wankel comes from the name of the inventor - Felix Wankel.
I quite like rotatory, think I'll use it from here on 😁

yo mickey are those smudge marks on the roof liner of the rx8??
Keep up the good content!! #rotary
What are you doing with the 3 rotor ?
Why can’t you use the old housings.. did they really get that screwed up?
Solefresh10 - I could’ve but, didn’t want to.
Hey Mickey, how much damage did the apex seal do? Did it break or just bend? Why did you go 2x new housings 😊👍
Morodizal - Apex seals were warped and intact. The corner seals failed.
Wow, déjà vu
Next is a 3 rotor build right? 😉
Check his ig. I hope for fc build
6 rotor in an oldschool jag. 6 rotor is the way. Thats why rotary was banned from formula1 was the 6 rotor

why do you need to replace the housings in the first place? did they get damaged in the "blow up"? they look fine

What does John drive?
Dan O'Brien - Diahatsu Charade
Rotary fanboys where y'all at??
NelKel JDM already here! 😁
Why can’t you use the old housings?
Jose Serrano - I could have. But wanted to go with new.
I honestly feel like you should of ported the sides as well for the best cooling possible
nephi sanchz - Not necessary
What’s camcorder you use?
Stage Plus - Canon G7X Gen2
