The same technology handed down from the high compression turbo diesel engine in the tahoe. So this can be reliable, I've seen these 2.7's go 300k in a 1500 worktruck. You can make an argue for resale, but just don't buy new and you're fine, the markets going to fall and people are going to lose money on used tacomas too. Colorado's stabilize their price nowadays, as trucks are getting more popular. Plus resale doesn't really matter as much when you're paying significantly less for a colorado, you lose about the same amount of money because the initial purchase price is so high. Unless you plan to keep it 20 years.

I'm waiting to see what the 2024 Tacoma looks like. I really think gm dropped the ball on the Colorado/canyon. First and must pain is that it's release date was in January and then they put holds on the units. Which I'm actually glad that I'm still waiting for my AT4 to be built so I can go try out and look at the 2024 Ford ranger and Toyota Tacoma. Noticed gm cheap out but still has a high price tag. Plastic still all over the dash, they shrunk the dash and gauges and got rid of most of the gauges unless you pay for the overpriced Denali or AT4+ package which gives you a cluster that fills the spot completely. And still no rear power slider. As a union/GM worker I'm sure I will get hate, but it's my money and I'm going get something I like! Gm is the one the decided to be cheap on things. And this is probably why the came out early to get people's attention. But then they will see that Ford and Toyota was smart and waited.
