I don't understand why people are so negative about Orianthi. One thing I've seen in the comment section is that she has done 'nothing new'. Oh, I'm sorry, but I didn't know bands like One Direction, and single artists like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, et al. did completely original, engaging hits! What a suprisee! (sarcasm). Sure, maybe nothing is new, but it is still more unique than the thousand other solo artists out there today. Orianthi is a talented person trying to make her way through a business that has bled dry it's originality. But I will say one thing to wrap me up. Orianthi is a modern day musician, but creates interesting and engaging music, trying different styles, etc. She is a far cry, professionally or skill-wise, in front of JB or OD. Skill-wise and professionally, she is up with the greats in her ability, but is under-appreciated by the industry. I really enjoy watching Vai play with other guitarists, here is good because Orianthi's style is more bluesy and helps keeps things grounded, enjoyed it!

Professional musicians don't improvise in studio. They wrote all those parts and practiced them to play them exactly the same way. Professionals only improvise in live shows.
i went frame by frame at 1:49 and although it looks like there's the tip of a cable coming out of the guitar, that's not the way cables are angled on steve's guitars.

Steve Vai is the best rock guitarist in the world . He can do any difficult technique the young players use BUT they ... Cannot touch his panache, feel, and interesting note selection. He has his own style. There is no other player that sounds like him.

She's not anywhere near Vai's level and would tell you that. Jackson liked having a female guitarist hence the pick and she could play the parts. This isn't meant to be sexist at all, there are tons of really good female players technically better than her.

Actually, they have been good friends for about 14 years, she was the opening act for Steve Vai back in Australia when she was 15 years old age (Same year she recorded her "Violet Journey" Album in her own studio all tracks including the drum work .... Steve and Orianthi have had several gigs together through the years....

Orianthi really is underrated as a guitarist........awesome playing.

I met Jennifer batton back in 2011 she played a show for my school and i ended up being her assistant for the day because i was the only theater tech kid to volunteer she was really nice and didnt keep secrets if asked questions after seeing and talking to her in person for those that shit talk her shes alot more skilled than you might think of from just watching videos shes every bit of worthy standing next to the the king of virtuoso steve vai him self

Steve Vai is the best rock guitarist in the world . He can do any difficult technique the young players use BUT they ... Cannot touch his panache, feel, and interesting note selection. He has his own style. There is no other player that sounds like him.

Trading licks and playing a note for note duet with Steve Vai makes her one of the best guitarists playing today. Full stop. This is some of the best rock guitar you'll ever hear. While more in line with what hard-line rock guitar fans want to hear, I hear echoes of Hot Rats in this piece. I wish more music like this was produced today.
