    Enjoyed your video, very informative! Marking the line distance with dental floss material is a great idea, one that I will use on all my trolling rods.

    Great instructions, this means that the shorter line wih the spoon will be 250 feet behing the boat with the biggr planer and the other line, with the smaller planer will be 400 feet behing the boat right ? Isn't that too far or did I misunderstood something ? Thank you for all the goo advices !!

      Correct! The smaller planer is set further back. Capt. O 👍

    Great information....keep doing what you love.
    What's the rating on the rod you using or recommend? Thanks

      Thanks! When trolling planers , we are using rods rated from 50-80 pounds. The key is that the tips are flexible enough to detect bites and absorb the initial shock. Tight Lines, Capt. O

    Please do a Wahoo trolling rig video. Can a beefed up version of this set up work. 65lb braid main line to plainer or cigar weight to 400lb mono shock leader to lure. Or would I need a topshot from my main line to the weight or plainer?

      @CaptOrlandoMuniz  3 года назад +1

      I usually do not target wahoo but I have caught some nice wahoo on this rig. If targeting wahoo on the planer, I would consider beefing up the leader to 60# or 80# . 👍

    Great videos! Do you troll two spoons at the same time?

    Been thinking of running a 40' planer off the stern cleat, then double snap swivel/rubber band setup to send a DTX 220 Minnow that also dives to 40'. Theoretically, I would be able to get the lure 80' down - will this work? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

      How deep it goes will also be affected by your speed and size of the planer. Haven’t tried it myself but theoretically it should work. My only concern would be if it snagged the bottom (costly mistake). Good luck! Capt. O

    Thank you for your videos. What size reel do you use for the #8 planer?

    • @CaptOrlandoMuniz
      @CaptOrlandoMuniz  2 года назад

      I use a penn 16 two speed and Shimano Tld 2 speed also. Like the aluminum frame reels better for planet trolling.

      @@CaptOrlandoMuniz Will a Shimano Tiagra 30wlrsa have enough drag to pull a #8 planer at 7 knots?

      I think you’ll be ok.

    Very nice video , my reel has a mono line can i do it on that ?

    • @CaptOrlandoMuniz
      @CaptOrlandoMuniz  3 года назад

      Thanks! Yes, you can use mono. You just have to make sure that it is heavy enough to withstand the load from the planer.

    how do you reel in the 100 foot leader? or maybe i'm misunderstanding your instructions.

    • @CaptOrlandoMuniz
      @CaptOrlandoMuniz  3 года назад +4

      When using this method, you must handline the leader. In the future I will be creating a video demonstrating how to make a “wind on” version. Stay tuned! Capt. O
