- The Beatles fired their first (fourth, technically) drummer, Pete Best in 1962. Best was on the precipice of Beatles greatness but was ultimately replaced by Ringo Starr. He finally got his severance pay in 1995.
Pete Best was a perfect drummer for The Beatles from 1960 to 1962 but he had a limited palette for the progression of songs from John and Paul. If they had kept Pete for live work and used a session drummer for studio work their history would've been shorter and less innovative. Going with Ringo as a musical and personal fit was a 200iq move.
You can tell Pete wasn't the best of drummers, I believe that is why they got rid of him. Ringo was better and fitted in perfect for the rest.

We only still keep talking about this guy because the Beatlesbecame ths biggest band ever after ditching him.
Go find the Parlophone/EMI recording of Pete Best falling off the bridge in "Love Me Do" and you will understand why George Martin kicked him out of the Abbey Road studio and called in Andy White. Quite simply, Pete could not keep time.
Great video! You should do another where you tell everyone things every Beatle fan has known for decades and you can find on dozens of other videos or the hundreds of books! More regurgitation that requires zero research and no interviews! Just your "funny" asides with rim shots, that's what people REALLY go for!
As I mentioned, literally in the first sentence of the video, this one is more for the *casual* fan of The Beatles who probably wouldn't know about Pete.

He can SAY he was a better drummer since Best is dead now.... He was fired because of jealousy of Pete getting more attention from the girls than anybody else in the band combined... So they found a drummer that couldn't ever do that,,,, and if you think that kind of stuff hasn't and doesn't happen, you have no idea what you're talking about... Had Pete not been a good drummer, they wouldn't have kept him around for the first 2 years of being a group/to band.... it doesn't take 2 years to know if a member is good enough... and abruptly throw them out when things start opening up for the band... He was the drummer that got them through up to that point. There are very few accomplished drummers in the world that ringo is better than.....
