Tip for anyone having trouble with the Leyline Lycan: trying to close the leyline before knocking on grandma's door will allow you to close more of the leyline before the Leyline Lycan notices and attacks you.
If you manage to close all of the lyline you do get the achievement “surprise pest removal” and you do get to skip the lyline Lycan boss fight however you do have to go for the middle first
exactly doing the surprise pest removal skip is cool but its not as fast as fighting the boss, mostly because of the easter egg cutscene, still its better to combine what op said and turn off the power. You have the risk of start the fight early but its worth it to save some extra time
There's actually a glitch where if you manoeuvre Karoto into standing just in front of the door before taking out the first leyline segment, the door won't open and so fake Grandma won't appear, letting you easily close the leyline (and get the achievement). But the really fun thing is that the Lycan spawn trigger is actually tied to the cookies, meaning that if you do this then it actually spawns in the next time the cookies appear --- which is during the cutscene with Grandma and the Knight. That triggers their combat AI and you get to see them go absolutely ham on it.
Hyperacusis- the sensitivety to sound and environmental noise, considering the Leyline Lycan was weak to Karoto's musical instruments this theme name is fitting.
By far, the best tutorial boss in gaming. Introduces the main quest, what it does to people (making you want to stop it, and therefore, making you more invested), has some really fun attacks to dodge while also getting you used to the dodge inputs, really creative phases, god, this boss has it all! AND IT'S THE TUTORIAL BOSS!
Plus it reuses the Electrified status and dice rolling you already are acquainted with because of the short tutorial fight during the Karoto prologue, so you understand the basic mechanics even when they are switched against you. God I love this game.
I'd like to add that it also reinforces the idea that TFQON is not your typical JRPG! The action menu that pops up at the start is played off as a joke (it game overs you if you pick anything except the run option), but I think it's actually very important in establishing that Nabiu and Karoto aren't nearly strong enough to charge headfirst into problems like this without getting their butts kicked. The game forces you out of the linear JRPG style of "We're taking turns to attack" and gets your feet wet with the main gameplay mechanics, which I think is really neat! Definitely one of my favorite games of 2024 so far
Don’t forget how it perfectly teaches you about Nabiu and Karo’s abilities - Karo can beat energy-based enemies while Nabiu can handle physical bodies. Genius design on the devs’ part!

This boss is very fun and challenging and the soundtrack did not disappoint with it! I mean it's such a fun idea for a boss that you cannot hurt and instead have to use clever tactics to avoid getting hit by and close off all the leyline's, it really showed what kind of good RPG this game was with just it's first boss fight! And I love that you can get a secret phase if you use the levitating on a tree in the Echo Rod's tutorial, really shows the attention to detail the devs put into this game.
I was today years old when i realized that the leyline lycan possessing the grandma was sort of a Red Riding Hood reference. Lycans are wolf creatures and the wolf in that story disguised itself as the grandmother after consuming her.
Man, this track goes so hard, was banging my head when watching the pilot when I heard this song. Love the intense yet classical vibe this gives off, you outdid yourself man!
I adore this fight scene. From the video game references to the use of the Leyline Lycan's abilities to it's hate of loud sounds due to it's simmilarities to wolves in it's base form to the expansion on Karoto's abilities and Nabiu's quick thinking to the frantic closing of the leyline itself to even just the Lycan's design. Everything about it was so well done and brimming with personality. Also Nabiu is adorable and I love her. I love how depending on what instrument you roll with Karoto, the music in fights changes. This is the cymbal variant of the theme. Also, little known fact. If you remove the knife from the fridge before the boss fight, the Lycan becomes unable to attack in its fridge form. This can grant you free turns to heal, which can be extremely helpful to newer players.
Yeah, I found it quite cool that the games essentially makes a roll, which forces the player to adapt their strategy. My first ever playthrough, Karoto rolled a 5, and got an electric guitar (not THE Electric Guitar, weird how they named two items that the same character uses so similarly). While normally useless, as it needs electricity, the leyline nearby allowed Karoto to play his guitar, not only letting me have an easier finale compared to other players, but it also alluded to both a new game mechanic, and another party member that's a bit spoilery.
Can safely say this track will go nicely with other such classics as Darkness Leads The Way and your limitless Storm Eagle remix. Awesome work as per ❤ gonna go watch the animation now lol
You have no idea how much I love this track, I've been listening to it on repeat. Along with the animation it makes such a cool boss battle. Congrats!!
Guys I found a neat glitch in the remaster on steam, If you end up somehow with the lycan Inside the Leyline, Say while it is in the appliance phase then it will start glitching before getting flung up into the sky. Not really useful but still interesting and I thought it was worth mentioning
I had this happen once on my first playthrough, It collided with the tree that hits it once the lycan goes through it's final scripted miss. I *also* learned that the Leyline Pups that spawn are capable of oneshotting Karoto from full health, leaving me with no way to stop the pups. Had to reload to the start of the fight, but now i'm kinda grateful that the devs gave us plenty of time to close that final leyline.
