Those wooden "things" are the pain in the a... For me at least. I live in the mountain area in Europe where it's sort of tradition to have something like that on the wall or on the ceiling, or both. I have cheap white umbrella to bounce, just like you. But I prefer to point it direct to the room, so it spreads out the light (sort of). I need to try your method.
Nevertheless, great tut - I like this 50% ambient color concept. Need to try, as I always struggle with the wood color. Endless red/orange/yellow color/brightness adjustment. And... I need to figure out how you create your action to blend everything, because every room it's a different amount of pictures... Anyways, brilliant, love this channel. :)

Lol I definitely feel you on them being a pain! I've tried several different things but I think the next up is to try an umbrella or octabox to see how that works with my process.
As for creating an action, make sure that you stick to the same workflow for every room except small bathrooms or closets. This will help the action to work for all rooms since the workflow will be the same.
For me, my process is: 3 exp bracket (merged in PS into one Ambient HDR layer), 1 Darken repair layer (flash pop over camera tilted back to fill room and get correct WB), 2 side flash pops on either side of the frame (brings in shadows that were wiped out from the overhead flash pop), and that's it.
If I have large rooms then I repeat the process above but add 2 more side shots to be blended later on like I show in this video: ruclips.net/video/Kab2wSPAx5Q/видео.html
Let me know if you have any questions and I'd be happy to help out!

What do you do to get your darken / repair shot if there is no wall behind you?

There is always a wall behind you, it just depends on how far and what color wall is it.
If there isn't one close by, you can pop the light off the ceiling. If there is one in the distance, sometimes I crank the flash power and pop it off the far wall behind the camera.
The darken/color repair is a great tool for bringing back highlights, windows, light fixtures; but it's not 100% necessary. I'll even sometimes just take a shot without the flash, if I know I won't' be needing the D/C repair layer. Then in PS, I'll just deactivate the layer.

@@BrandonWattsREP Thanks for the reply dude i've been studying your videos like crazy and was actually wondering if you'd reply to that... 🤣Anyways i've been experimenting in the mean time and have learned a lot. 1. AD200 Pro feels a bit weak. 2. Flambient feels time consuming on site. So i started experimenting with HDR a little more. Just can't master the editing portion with the bright and airy look that other editors can get. Maybe Lumenzia is not enough? IDK - Time will tell.
