    You can get a more natural and contrasty HDR blend by adjusting each exposure first so that the midtones are roughly in the same area. Pull the highlights down as needed for the darker exposure and lift shadows as needed for the brighter exposure to maintain the info there. Then when you blend, then transition points tend to have a more natural look to them.

    I have been watching your videos for some time now and find your editing system and general approach to real estate photography very smart and efficient, giving the best result overall.
    If you are planning to release those custom actions, I encourage you to do so, and the timing couldn't be better, at least for me :) since I'm making my first steps in real estate photography.
    Just like you have found your business mentor, I think I found an editing/photo one for me.
    Thank you for all the work you put into these videos. It's much appreciated!

      You're awesome and thank you for the follow! I'm working on some tutorial videos to go along with them. It'll go over the setup as well as how to use them in certain scenarios.
      I realized that if I just release the actions with no how-to vids, that there would be an insane amount of questions that I wouldn't have time to always answer. So this should help both of us I would figure.
      let me know if you have any questions in the mean time and I would be happy to help!

      Anyway, thank you for the reply, I'm sure I’ll have a question or two along the way ;)

    Such a great video thank you for the content, quick question why not merge in Lightroom before importing to PS?

    • @BrandonWattsREP
      @BrandonWattsREP  Год назад +2

      Thank you! I'll be talking about this in another video, but basically you're wasting time by merging in LR before importing to PS.
      By importing all the files per scene from LR to PS without merging, you're able to take a single action in PS and have it do all the work for you.
      It takes 10 minutes to load all the files into PS, and 2 minutes to have the entire house blended by one action.
      If you try to merge in LR you'll be taking 10 minutes before you even start to load the files into PS.

    Another great tutorial, thank you. I'm shooting all HDR right now and trying to learn your method to improve my quality of shots. Do you have a go to setting for your AD600? I'm using a V860ii speedlight right now, what would you suggest for camera and flash settings to try and accomplish the same quality? I've bought your HDR action and will buy your future actions too.

      Typically when it comes to flash power, that and the shutter speed (for the exposure bracket) are the only settings that change from room to room.
      I like to keep my camera set to f/6.3, ISO 320, 1/200 for shutter speed when shooting my flash shots. With this set, I can usually get away with 1/4 flash power for large rooms, 1/8 for medium rooms, and 1/32 for small bathrooms and such, using my 600w.

    sir, how client choose photos that you shoot alot of perspective?

    • @BrandonWattsREP
      @BrandonWattsREP  Год назад

      I don't choose anything, I just deliver everything. I shoot 3 shots for every main room like kitchen, master bedroom, living. Then I shoot 2 shots for the secondary rooms like bedrooms, dining room, bathrooms. For the exteriors I shoot 3 shots each of the front and back. usually comes out to 25 to 35 images depending on the size of the house.

  • @jonathanruiz3121
    @jonathanruiz3121 Год назад

    How long does it usually take you to shoot when you're on sight? for like a 2500 sq ft home? Also I know you mentioned that you use cutsom wb in camera, do you ever change the white balance after you set it? Like sometimes I'll shoot a house and the living room and kitchen are like beige, but then the bedrooms have like blue walls or white walls then I have to change my wb a couple different times on sight. Do you change it on sight or just change the wb in lightroom?

    • @BrandonWattsREP
      @BrandonWattsREP  Год назад +1

      If nobody is home and I don't have to move anything around, it can take 30-45 minutes to run through a house. I shoot 3 shots for every main room, then I shoot 2 shots for the secondary rooms. For the exteriors I shoot 3 shots each of the front and back. Usually comes out to 25 to 35 images, depending on the size of the house.
      As for WB, I set that first inside the camera by taking 2 or 3 test flash pops, then I don't move it, even for the ambient bracket. I don't care about the WB for the ambient bracket since we don't need it's color values, only the luminance values. Due to this, I set the wb and leave it alone when shooting houses with all the same colored walls. For houses with different color walls, I set the wb to the main color, then when I get to the rooms with different colored walls, I set the wb to auto and quickly move on. I don't have time to waste trying to figure that part out, although I could if I had time and really wanted to deal with it. Then in LR I will manually adjust the necessary frames and that's it, before importing to PS.

    I'm commenting as I'm watching lol sorry for the spam, but question for you sir, the flash pop you do above the camera, that you then turn into a darken/color repair, do you ever use the light from that flash pop? I guess it feels like the light from its being thrown away since you're only keeping the darkest parts? Then in the darkest parts, if soemthing was under exposed, it's colors would be all messed uo and orange right?

    • @BrandonWattsREP
      @BrandonWattsREP  Год назад +2

      It's technically the opposite of how you stated. I find that by using all of the light from the darken/color layer can often cause discoloration if the light was either too bright or too dim. If it's bright, then the colors appear blue, though if it's too dim then the colors appear orange.
      One way to alleviate this is to only use the side flash pops to brighten up the scene l, and to use the Darken flash pop for exposing for your highlights.
      I'll make a video on this showing the difference
