Some Advice for Julia: When you make an items that's supposed to have something fit well inside of it like a gun or a knife, wet the leather, and wrap it in about an inch of cloth all the way around and then sandwich that in foam and put heavy weight on it and the weight will force the wet leather to form around the item inside the leather and create a custom fit.

As a knife maker I can say solid job on both knife and sheath! For your next sheath, wrap your knife in paper towel and foil. Then soak your raw leather in water for a few hours(before applying the fish skin) and then wrap it around the knife to for the knife shape to the leather. Let it dry and shrink to shape. You can use spring clamps or binder clips to form your lines. This will give you a form fitted fricton fit sheath. Then glue skin to sheath!

Good morning from the land of Blaze King where the skies are smoky all day, thanks for another video. It's great to see the next shift of leather workers and knife makers coming up, this from a semi-old guy who's done both as a hobby for more than 4 decades. While the fancy knife was amazing, the puukko type looks to be a very useful shape and would be a great working and everyday carry tool. Well done to the artisans. Best to you all.

Years ago I bought my Granddad a knife for Christmas to replace the one of his that I accidentally dropped into the ocean when he and I were fishing together in San Diego back when I was a little kid. After he opened the gift he thanked me for the knife and then he ok a quarter out of his pocket and handed it to me. I asked him why he gave me 25 cents. He told me that for many centuries it has been customary that when someone gives you a sharp blade you should give them a token of some kind in return. (like a quarter, or a dime, or a nickel)
Centuries ago when someone gave you a sharp blade that person was actually giving you a chance at a better life. That person was giving you something you could defend yourself with, something to help feed yourself with, something that gave you a better chance to survive. I was thinking that it would be nice if Julia gave Brandt a small coin and he could inlay it into the handle of the knife he made for himself when he made Julia's knife. Just a thought. Take care. sincerely, Dean O. :-I

Making stuff personally for yourself is great, it’s how you learn to push the boundaries and gain a lot of knowledge but when it comes to custom made for a client, the pressure you put on yourself to make it can be overwhelming at times because you demand perfection and nothing less.
