What I love about this character is how he ties into the Owl House's themes of reality vs. fantasy.
Emperor Belos is what evil looks like in fantasy, an unstoppable dark lord puppeteering from the shadows who may have a deeper motivation for his hatred.
Phillip is what evil looks like in reality, a bitter, narcissistic man who loves controlling others. He's evil because he sees others as beneath him, and because he always has to be right. He hates witches because he does not understand them, even after years of living among them.
It's one of the things I like most about the Owl House. It takes so many common fantasy tropes and deconstructs them in such interesting ways.
I agree with the theme of reality vs fantasy, but not in that exact way. To me Philip is an example of someone who could not face reality, he is a man trapped in his own fantasies. While Luz eventually learned to differentiate between reality and fiction, Philip never did.
@@quinnfletcher3906 and unfortunatly the fantasy he beleives in is "these people are demons and monsters and need to die and I am the hero who will save everyone and is always right"
@@sarafontanini7051 A sick perversion of Luz's own hero fantasy.
He also contrasts with Luz in how he sees and interacts with the world around him that he’s found himself in. He needs to control it, to get people to see his way. Luz is keener to see things for how they are, to live on the Boiling Isles instead of ruling them.
Beneath the mask of darkness is man
When it comes to the collector, I see him as an unrestrained Luz. A version of her that never got a reality check and lets their imagination run wild without acknowledging real life, someone who, in the words of Camila, can’t separate fantasy from reality.
He’s what Luz could’ve become if she was raised on different values
And has god like power
My shorthand description: Bill Cipher's power with Spinel's psyche.
Oh interesting. I've kinda always made the comparison that the collector is like if King didn't get a reality check in S2. They both could have ended up very similar

And he would have gotten away with it if it weren't for those meddling kids.
FRED JONES IS A HIMBO
Don't underestimate the Puritans. They were not utterly beyond reason when it came to these things. The Salem mess was actually seen as a horrible embarrassment pretty quickly. A Belos returning triumphantly wouldn't be killed for being a witch (he probably wouldn't actually count), but he might face repercussions for the mass murder or, if it came out, killing his own brother.
Keep in mind however that they also felt the native peoples (Wampanoag specifically) were subhuman. The Puritans repeatedly broke agreements, encroached on their land and threw their people into c̶o̶n̶c̶e̶n̶t̶r̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶c̶a̶m̶p̶s̶ praying towns to convert them to the Puritan way of life while still being seen as subhuman. Then the Puritans killed them off completely because they felt the existence of the native peoples were offensive to God and so in their eyes, he punished the Puritans with disease and crop failures. This even upset the British managing colonial affairs because the wars led to a fair amount of damage to the colonies' economy; dead people, destroyed products, etc..
Sorry for the history lesson, I just wanted to throw that out there.
@@reviewtechussr True, to a degree. There were a few exceptions (Philadelphia at first, though those were Quakers, not Puritans), but overall things were horrible. I don't mean to imply the Puritans were incapable of genocide and cruelty, they very much were. Metacom and that war is a big example of that.
Though there was some cooperation at times, in that they'd play the political game and ally with some groups against others.
Curse terrifying @
KittyMonk: "Belos begins to get desperate."
Belos: "These kids are kinda annoying, wonder if I can capture them before I destroy this whole place one week from now, lmao."
Genocide. He wants to commit Genocide. He doesn't just want to kill a lot of Witches. He wants them gone, permanently, as if they never existed. Their people, their history, thier culture, their hopes and dreams.
Which just goes to show how little Disney ever realizes what they're greenlighting XD
Voldemort: im witch hitler. I want to kill all unprure
Belos: hold my beer. Tightly, if you will. I dont want your corpse to drop it
Rather than it being a historical inacurracy, I choose to see the "witch hunter general" thing as Belos thinking that humanity will be SO impressed that they'll invent a new highest rank just for him.
Scariest part right now is we don’t know what he’s gonna do next. He has nothing left to lose since his plan failed and betrayed all his “allies.” All that fuels him now is revenge against the kids and the CATs for thwarting his plans and releasing the Collector.
I think he might want to go back after seeing modern society. The boiling isles are all he knows. Assuming he doesn't die or turn into a monster? Lotta ways it can go.

I know I'm repeating the words of many others, but just. Having a pure evil villain like Belos was a really good thing to really differentiate itself from, for example, Amphibia. Of course, now we have the new, morally-ambiguous antagonist, but I'm still glad Belos AND Phillip worked so well.
yeah a villain being simple isn't a bad thing and honestly I would've been kinda disappointed if for all the build up Belos was sympathetic considering all the horrible things he does
It's true, I love sympathetic villains but it gets tiring because there's so many of them.
@@sarafontanini7051 Calling him pure evil villain is simplifying what Belos really is. And think there is a possibility we'll get a sympathetic backstory based on the memory portraits. Or rather, a tragedy tale of two brothers.
Belos is like a Shakespearian villain. A man whose tragic tale is a self-inflicted one. You can understand where he's coming from and why he's the way he is. You can see that he could have easily become a good person if he had made different choices. You pity him enough for the man he could have become and yet at the same time, wish for him a suitable punishment for his sins.
Pure evil villain is what I associate with the Joker, Aku or Darth Sidious. They have no real backstory depicting their start of darkness. They have no delusions that they are anything but evil. They do evil things because they can and because they want to. You can't really pity them when they die because they're not complex or relatable villains in comparisons.
@@evanbao93 I think he is pure evil, just not born evil. He is like Griffith from Beserk, once he had geniune redeeming features and such. But he threw all of those redeeming features to the side, and is currently pure monstrosity.
@@erickamakeeaina1649 You don't understand pure evil then. Pure evil is extremely simple. They don't believe or even pretend to believe in any noble goal. They care not about anything other than a hunger for power and violence. Think Micheal Myers.
Belos falls short of the pure evil mark because he still is trying to prove himself as a hero to Luz. He still genuinely believes that witches are evil and he's saving humanity. And he's afraid to confront his memory of murdering Caleb, either screaming in agony upon reliving it or simply avoiding the topic altogether when Luz accuses him of stabbing Hunter first.
Oh don't get me wrong, he's a monster. But there is enough of his humanity to break him down that would otherwise not work on a villain like the Joker or Aku. Hence why he's not pure in the evil.
Belos is a villain that is so dedicated to his goals that he took many years to complete it. He wasn't like Adrias, who was pressured to do his evil, Belos just does it out of sheer will.

Philip Wittebane is ironically the most realistic depiction of a sociopathic narcissist. He is charming but cold and calculated and his mercy to Luz is a result of his own projection of Caleb onto her. His savior complex doesn’t help so in his eyes everything is always justified and moral because he is the "hero".
I knew the Collector would be powerful, but when I saw them move the moon like an app icon on a whim, then I realized I had grossly miscalculated just how powerful.
Kids by far one of the darkest Disney villains. I've ever seen a TV show. I'm so mad that we can't see more of him. Because Disney decide to cancel such a great show.
I know right
hes not dead yet, so i think we will see more
At least we know Belos will show up in Season 3 in some way because he is on Earth right now from the end credits. Also, we are definitely getting Belos's backstory next season because Hunter will find out about Caleb on Earth from the statues to Gus seeing Belos's memories. So at least we get more of Belos as a villian!
@PowerZgamer Yeah Season 3 is the last season with 3 45 minute episodes! Sadly, we should have gotten a full Season 3, but Disney cut it because they treated the show horribly. Dana had to fight for the 3 45 minute episodes. But that means we will definitely have some of those episodes from Season 3 exploring Caleb and Belos's past. Idk which of the three episodes though. But they already set up a lot for the eventual reveal to the kid group on Earth. Also, Clouds on the Horizon even set up that Hunter and Luz aren't telling everyone the truth from Hunter being a Grimwalker to Luz helping Philip. So that will eventually get revealed to the rest of the group along with Hunter putting together the "Caleb" Belos yelled at Hunter in the finale to Caleb Wittebane from Earth. Then add on the fact that Belos isn't dead and will definitely cause the kids alot of problems. The kids don't even know that Belos is alive! So that will be interesting to see! Anyways, it makes Season 3 even more exciting to wait for so we can see how all of these 3 episodes play out!
im really sad that they cut down season 3, i bet if the show had absolutely no lgbtq+ factors it wouldnt have been cut but this show was amazing and ill always remember it bc the writers worked so hard to even get those amazing scenes and for us to get a complete story bc im sure if they didnt work so hard, it would have just been a cliffhanger :(

22:43 I think the 'Titan' here is the Titan corpse that makes up the Boiling Isles. It's still "aware" to some extent despite being dead, so was able to choose to show Luz glyphs in things like snow flakes and nudge things in a way that hinted that they could be merged. Belos/Phillip on the other hand, it didn't want to know these things so Phillip had to figure them out without being nudged into it.
how right you were.😉
Hes such an impressive feat of writing. One scene in episode 19 with Luz and hes already intriguing and then in his VERY FEW s2b appearences, he is so dominating a presence. Its so good
Your dedication to the show is admirable.
I really enjoy Belos as a villain
He's evil and irredeemable but has beliefs that makes him think he is doing good and we know he raised to be a witch hunter
That said, he is meant to be hated
The dude practically creates clones of his brother over and over, just to use him and eventually kill him
What makes him more scary is that he's very cunning, intelligent, and manipulative, practically tricking all the characters at least once. Even worse, as many mention before me, people like him have, can, and exist.
Now that's a great villain.
Bill: "You need to look like a Titan to trap one!"
I never thought that I would see another Judge Claud Frollo character in another universe in Disney Animation. Emperor Belos or Philip Wittebane has got to be one of my favorite Disney Villains in any form of Disney Animation I have seen in years and besides Bill Cipher, Philip takes Top Tier Spot in WTF Villains in Animation or at least my Top Tier List in WTF Villains. LET ME EXPLAIN.
Philip Wittebane was raised in an era where fear and paranoia was an everyday thing especially when it came to the horror that was the Witch Trials and has kept that mindset or better yet have it engraved in his mind for centuries! He made it his life mission to eradicate all life on the Boiling Isles for a movement that long since died and let's be clear the Witch Trials in America during the Colonial Era were brutal. After the reveal of Belos/Philip being a witch hunter, his methods, his constant manipulation, heck even his "Emperor's Coven" made sense once you look into the twisted system that he created that would eventually lead up to the Day of Unity. In his memories back in Hollow Mind, Belos spread fear and false propaganda with him spouting he can "Speak to the Titan" and warning the denizens of the isles on the "Dangers of Wild Magic" and after establishing the Coven System he still continued to spread these lies and had his scouts,(Steve you made the right choice in leaving boo boo!), hunt down any witch who refuses an has them petrified!
As for the Caleb Wittebane, he was raised alongside his younger brother Philip believing in those ideals but as soon as they set foot on the Boiling Isles, Caleb learned to not only break free from those ideals, like Luz he saw the wonders of the Boiling Isles and eventually found love along the way. Philip seeing his older brother who he once looked up to in the past just walking away from everything that they were raised to believe in and falling for a being that they were supposed to despise was the turning point that led to Caleb's death. That's why in King's Tide Philip said this to Luz, "I don't want to see another human life destroyed by this place." we knew he meant his brother Caleb in that sentence and if anything, Luz was exactly like Caleb in personality and not just by appearance because they saw the beauty of the Boiling Isles while Philip saw nothing. What even makes Philip even more of a douche than he already was is my final topic.
The Grimwalkers. Grimwalkers are basically clones with ingredients such as a selkidomus scales, a galderstone, and many more but....I get the feeling that Philip used the bones of Caleb but everytime a grimwalker is created they will have some features that won't match with the original. But after what we saw in Hollow Mind and King's Tide we all know that these fallen Guards were killed because they had their own individuality and emotions each one realizing what their Emperor was doing was wrong.....sad to say that might've been the fate of Darius' mentor the previous Golden Guard before Hunter. Philip mentioned this in the mindscape that out of all the grimwalkers he created Hunter looked the most like Caleb and I swear apart of me just froze when he said those words.
KittyMonk: "Yeah, they're going to %100 kill off a main character, especially one who's essentially a child..."
Amphibia: "Hold my beer."
Something I like about Belos is that he isn’t misunderstood at all… he is truely evil and hates all the witches. In amphibia, the only clear villain is the core as Marcy and Andrias have redemption arcs and realize what they did wrong. Belos simply just thinks he’s right. He has gone to extreme lengths to prove his point and before Luz, there was nothing to stop him and even with Luz trying to stop him he still maintained his confident and slightly unnerving demeanor throughout most of the series. One of the only times I remember him showing that he scared was when he was face to face with the collector and his confidence started to shrink away. He just can’t be wrong and thinks his cause permits mass genocide.
Honestly what's really scary was that Belos nearly succeeded in his goal not just once, but twice. First be a carefully crafted plan that took years and the second was just take over the Titan's body and spread his meat/moss all over the place like a Resident Evil villain.
really hope she make a part 3 covering that
"screw him and make it a snuff film" okay jeez okay okay.
I paused at 12:41 and then went to do something and forgot about the video so when I un-paused you can say I was slightly confused.
25:20 I thought about that during the episode. Honestly it could’ve been an amazing scene, and revealed a lot about Belos.
•If he doesn’t/wouldn’t stop the draining spell, he’s a monster that truly believes in what he’s doing.
•If he does stop or is upset that he can’t stop it, he reveals he’s not as faithful to the cause as he claimed.
30:19 "And then a tiny piece of belos falls onto hunter"
You know, considering the contents of the new episode... it makes a lot of sense?
Belos shows a continuation and perfection of this trend with family animation where they arent afraid to be horrifying. Adventure Time had the lich, Gravity Falls had Bill Cipher, The Owl House has belos. Its like studios arent afraid of letting media be a little more mature now, and thats amazing.
As to the Witchhunter/finder nomenclature.
The Witchfinder as the name suggests find supposed witches and take them to be judged by court and decide if they are guilty or not.
On the other hand we have a Witchhunters (I take the Warhammer Fantasy ones as an example). They are often portrayed as autonomous and over the law units. Their goal is to find and eliminate the witches where they themselves serve as finder, judge and executioner.
So yeah, Belos is definitely Witchhunter
12:09 seems like Kiki is running her own Delivery Service
The "Hey mom, I'm back" hit really hard love this show
Belos is probably one of the most evil Disney Villains out there. He doesn't want to take over the world. He wants to destroy it (at least the witch world) I think that's so twisted! Also, I didn't notice on my first watch that Eda's arm just.. disintegrated. 👀
21:12 I think the reason why they didn’t let ebberwolf die is because they’re friends, especially Darius. Darius and ebberwolf are shown to be close and honestly, I can’t fault Darius too much for not letting his best friend die for the greater good. I honestly may do the same. It’d be hard, especially knowing that it would be your fault, the reason your best friend died was because of you.
I don't think you can compare Belos and Toffee. One is a serial accuser with a superiority complex turned cult-leader with a fear of mediocrity. The other is a high ranking soldier with a fear of magic turned businessman with a disdain for magic and magic users.
I cannot say whether or not Belos is Toffee done right, because:
A) we never got the complete picture with Toffee the way we did Belos, or why he really mattered to the narrative, and
B) Belos was of the oppressor class, while Toffee was, supposedly, of the "oppressed" class of his own world in the vein of Amon (before they revealed him to be a bender) or Killmonger.
We got most everything we needed out of Belos as a complete puzzle within a handful of episodes, than we did out of Toffee in a whole show plus two supplementary books.
In a way that kind reinforces the idea of Belos beign 'toffee done right', cause he has a similar role as Toffee (a soft spoken, dark antagonist in an otheerwise comedic show who get shis way mostly via manipulation and planning) while also not having the same failings as the character by havig a defined motive, a clear backstory and does so without any narrative caveats on his nature.
Could Jacob be the ancestor of Matthew Hopkins ? The IRL Witchfinder General ? So if Belos somehow gained his body back, would they team up ?

It’s so weird when you come across RUclipsrs you know you would be really great friends with bc like YOURE LOWKEY FAMOUS BUT YOURE SO AWESOME AND COOL MY GUY
19:14 I admit that this excuse is weak, but there's a much better excuse they don't even touch on: Lilith already has an Emperor's Coven Sigil, and we don't know how that would affect things, either. Their cover might've been blown even sooner than it did in the actual episode if the wrong Sigil is used in the spell (maybe even before Belos actually leaves), so that would be a huge problem. With Eda doing it (and with what they knew going in), they avoided that risk.
19:18 considering the fact that Lilith's owl beast form is so much bigger and more monstrous looking than Eda's, I think it's pretty clear that it doesn't behave in the exact same way, so their concerns are valid.
1:30 THANK YOU!
I'm so sick of EVERYTHING being about politics and "if you disagree, get out!" when it doesn't matter to the point of the (insert place here).
I never knew about the Witch Finder General. thank you for that tidbit of history, I love history.
So Belos's fate if he succeeded would killed for using magic (if he returned to his own time), seen as a lunatic and possibly an internet meme (modern era), or an absolute monster (modern era if people believed him).
Considering that he's in denial that his mud monster form, I think it's more likely that he ends reverting into that form and end up scaring the people with his appearance. And when people are scared of something they don't understand, naturally a mob is formed to hunt and kills the beast.

I still think we're probably gonna get a full on backstory at some point.
Probably not as long as we could have though. something like this deserves one full episode, if not more. But since we only have 3 45 minute long episodes to conclude the whole series, we won't get anything longer than 10 minutes, I think.
@@joyc.e.7511 We're getting the equivalent of 6 episodes so half of a 44 minute long special is still in the ballpark. I see your point though.
The Collector is TERRIFYING because he is pure unchecked power. He may or may not even be aware of the destruction and problems he's causing.
Great video Kitty monk and same with your other belos video. I appreciate that you really go in depth with swipes like Star vs, grvaity falls, owl house, amphibia etc. And speaking of Amphibia, you don’t have to but I would really like to hear your thoughts on King Andrias or Sasha as a whole in the future.
I know you made a Sasha video before and since the series is over I’m curious on your full thoughts on her now and with andrias since he was the prominent villain of Amphibia and how he differs from belos and other Disney villains
Just a small detail I noticed, but Belos started eatting Palisman before his brother died. We can see this in Hollow Mind when Caleb is hugging Phillip in his goo like form. Also Phillip started the journal before his brother died, bc there is a drawing of his brother in it and it looks like it was talking about an adventure.
Watching these videos only makes me hope that you finish off Belos's story from what we got on Season 3. Particularly because we got the "real" story on what caused the split between Philip and Caleb and then how much farther Belos was still pushing himself to "get the job done."
0:44 Going into MBTI typing, this here suggests Philip is an Fi-dom, rather than the Te-dom he's usually typed as. Fi-dom villains tend to be fixated on proving something and don't care about the consequences.
Also I saw on Tumblr a post that said about how the Clawthorne's sisters were not both recruted when they were the only ones how tried to and the separating recruits from family and friends, cause the coven uses manipulative and abusive tactics, isolate their victims (recruits), and how the sisters could provide support for each other, that's why and my take after that is: to already use that manipulation from start, to make distrust, competition or even jealousy, between them to use for making them loyal to him from the moment they get there, we saw this with Kiki and her choice of her job or family in the Coven Parade episode.
Again! If this was Ford's alternative lifestyle then Stan still did the right thing despite still regretting what Ford wad saying to him and was abit crazy. As for Belos/Philip; If he still dares kill of Hntet or whoever then brace yourself for some unforgiving scorn and although King Andrias may have not been better he at *least* got abit if redemption In the very end even his tearful goodbye to Marcy knowing what did was still wrong he didn't want to relive It again.

I dunno. Somehow the genocide spell requiring him to wait literally centuries for an eclipse feels wrong to me. My immediate thought on hearing of a “draining spell” was “where’s it draining to?”
Here is something that I just realized about Belos. Given that one of the themes of the Owl House is that its ok to be different from the norm, Belos is basically an allegory about religious conservatism doing everything they can to not only change history to their liking but to control people into a specific role.
There's also an allegory of how destructive ideology can destroy families. As we see in his memories, Philip wasn't always a bad man. He did have happier times with his older brother when they were young and innocent. But the anti-witch hysteria environment he grew up poisoned his mind that he ended up murdering his brother for falling in love with a witch. A reminder of how in real-life, lots of families have lost their loved ones to a mindless cult of hatred and bigotry.
And I heard Bel Hop gained control of that form after destroying the angry Palasmin Souls.
The illusion guy was scared of gus bc he saw his plan
2:55 this is likely not his first, as who you referred to as Red Fang mentioned bluefang missing a palismen
One thing that seems weird to me is that the teleportation glyph doesn't require the light glyph, but we know that the glyphs are like words and can be merged to create other effects: (invisibility, safety hover, monster arm, telekinesis, petrification, water, tornadoes), but I have to wonder. I looked at 'Them's The Breaks' and when Luz creates various glyphs.
The teleportation glyph is some atomic structure thing, with no light glyphs.
Invisibility: 2 ice both on the outside, 2 light (1 center, the other outside)
Safety Hover: 1 light (center), 1 fire (outer ring), 1 ice (also outer ring)
Snow: ring connecting 2 ice glyphs both east and west, north 1 light glyph, south 1 fire glyph.
Petrification: 3 ice glyphs, (2 outside, 1 in the center) and 2 plant glyph (1 close to the center, 1 on the outside).
Monster arm: 2 plant, (1 outside, 1 in the center ring) 2 fire in the middle ring.
Tornado: 3 fire surrounding the center, 1 ice in the center and 1 light on the outside.
Water: 3 ice in the outside, 1 fire in the center.
Part of me says that ice is also for freezing, not freezing ice but stopping movement, it's freezing the light for the invisibility glyph, freezing Luz for the safety hover, freezing petrification, the ice is adding to barometric pressure.
Light also meaning light as in not heavy, the safety hover makes people light, make things light for the tornado to lift. The only one stumping me is its relation to the snow glyph.
Fire is energy and movement, the reason the safety hover isn't flight is because the fire and ice glyphs are countering each other from getting too strong, it gives energy to the monster arm, I think the fire glyphs are giving heat to amplify the tornado (heat does impact weather, magic possibly influencing things)
Plant could be life itself, the monster arm is a form of life, and the petrification is ceasing and halting life, I mean plus combine a solid (ice) associated with an elemental force related to the ground (plants) and create (stone), just go with a more fantasy logic.
17:28 and yet at first I'd found the Collector to be kind of Annoying like that Qubert kid from Futurama

Honestly to the whole Toffee thing, Toffee was legendary in how he acted and bounced off other characters. He was charismatic, but also intimidating and hilarious ("SSSURPRISE!!!"). But as SVTFOE tends to do he wasn't handled well. I didn't make the Toffee/Belos comparison in my head and hearing it really makes me wish SVTFOE was in some more competent storytelling hands if only for that reason. or hell he could still have the same general backstory and personality and be msotly just in more denial. He's not a bad person, there's a bigger reason why he's in hell, he's here to save everyone, he's not here to suffer. That's what he beleives, at least.
Personally I didn't mind the 'witch hunter general' thing. I mean, it sounds like a promotion from Witch finder
So what’s interesting about Belos’ monster form. Bears resemblance to the Wendigo. The story is that you become a Wendigo through cannibalism
Lore of Philip Wittebane and Emperor Belos are Truly Scary! (The Owl House Video Essay) (Part 2) momentum 100
I’ve just noticed that Phillip’s nose wasn’t bent but Belos’s is. Lilith broke his nose with her punch!
People*
Old mad man, covered in blood of innocent.
Me*
Still my favorite character.
1. Love what you did with the old timey filter at the start of the video, really felt like we were going over something actually historical, and 2. Really enjoyed what you showed here. Your "Fan Fic" idea for how Belos killed Caleb honestly kinda woks lol, even changed how I look at that story, and Belos indeed did get more intimating and frightening as the show went on. It is a shame that the show can't do everything it wants to do with it's characters and story due to Disney's involvement, but I still really enjoy with what were getting with it despite those unfortunate circumstances. Really great videos cover this interesting character!
woooo its finally done
(or at least i hope, i haven't seen the whole video yet. loved, and still loving, this essay tho)
I would like to believe that people can talk about politics and be civil about it.
I wonder if he tried telling the other grimwalkers different things than hunter.
like maybe tell him up front that
"magic of any kind is evil and when we eradicate it the human world will love us for it"
he's gone through at least 15 to 20 of em so it probably be worth a shot
The one nitpick I have about your fanfiction on Belos's backstory leading up to present day is that in Elsewhere and anywhere we see plans and what are ingredient supplies to make a Grimwalker in his hideout before Belos/philip's made contact with the Collector meaning he already knew of and how to make Grimwalker's. u do make a good point about the rest of Hexside not being involved in the plan to stop the day of unity especially considering that it could've been easily addressed with a few lines of dialogue from Wilow and Gus to Luz when they meet up like the Hexide staff and students are trying to keep as many people as possible from attending the day of unity or not all of them are combat effective.
Dang this is a full history, loving it. I feel like I'm picking up on Dune vibes from Belos. In the later books the empire is run by an immortal god emperor. He's been keeping one companion through the years, his former sword trainer and master at arms Dunkin Idaho. Each Dunkin eventually turns on the emperor to be replaced by the next.
Tbh some constructive criticism id give on this video is that it’s more of a recap of the last few episodes rather than going into why belos is so scary again
This was never confirmed as the source of "Belhop's" knowledge of the C ATs, but if you look back there is a snapdragon bloom hung over the door of their hideout. I know not everyone agrees (and that's fine - I'm very good at being wrong - my finest talent) but to me that seemed like an obvious clue that terra was using that blossom to as a bug to listen or even watch the CATs as they planned.
That would also explain how Kiki and Belos knew about the plan! Plus it’s definitely something Terra would do.
@@lucyidek Yes. Terra would have loyally told Belos (not sure how autocorrect turned that into Bellhop above) and Kiki was also eavesdropping on everyone.
Honestly Belos is clearly the exact kind of person who wouldn't change.
Hear me out when I say if raine or any other might have died from the day of unity drainage spell, this to me could leave a deeper impact on eda than the show might allow.
I have a couple theories on the grim Walker, my first theory is actually very much more darker if you realize it. If you pay attention to what Philip says you're the one that looks most like him. Which leads me to believe it could be actually his nephew, he always refers to them as his nephew in that particular way. Probably on the first night of his actual actions, he proceeds to slay and stabbed his brother, and it desperately attempts his sister-in-law pregnant, possibly for a few months(or however long.) Open the door, fleeing into the cabin that we see in the past, sacrificing her own palindrome to save her family bite ordering it to carry the door and drop to the farthest reaches of the boiling Isles. Then Philip went hunting, the first palindrome he drained was in fact the sister-in-law's, with a violent action.
A few years later, his nephew came through the door, out to explore. Possibly an argument, possibly through some other means, after all the key was taken, in order to make sure that nobody found his door and not to tempt himself to be coming home is owned tail in story, he buried the door and its key. Possibly leaving it with his other family they discovered. Running into his dear uncle, reminding him of his dark past. His uncle proceeded to raise his hand, and said"you know maybe the reason why I can't cast magic so efficiently is because of that damn sack, maybe I'll just cut it out of you, my dear nephew!" The process fails, he just resurrected him, after all, we saw that there was a potion of life shouldn't be that hard to make a glyph version, after all. Notice how the hunter copies are all the same age, maybe this one was just a little bit older because he didn't IT kill just yet!
I'm when I have to wait for the specials for my other options are more clear, and also the check out and see this. Is wrong. Although this makes more check and balances.
You know something that i realized is that Philip didn't make the Portal. He spent years trapped in another World wanting to get out, If he made it why didn't he just get out and If he lost it why didn't he have His guards Search for it???? Also where did he get the titans Blood when they ALL died (y es i know King is a Titan but. He doesn't even know King is one) and the Area where it was full of it was dry for what looks like a Long time
Edit: also the point of him leaving was on Purpose, because The collector literally says the boiling iles would be destroyed with everything along with it, why Stick around when everything will be destroyed??? He's that much of a villain. He knows it would be destroyed and so he leaves the people to die in There last Moments as he makes his escape
Titan blood was simply collected from underground cavity under the titan corpse (like eclipse lake) The boiling isles probably used to be full of the stuff but since there only so much blood inside a body and a lot of people that want to use it, it has almost completely run out by the point where the series take place.
@@blackbloom8552 while that is true, he couldn't have made the door, because he was busy Moving from Place to Place. Even then, The door looks super ancient and like it was created by someone else and since Philip was known for lying about his adventures, who is not to say that he lied about he being the One to make the door? Hell apparently they where led into another world by a witch(that or they stumbled upon it), so the door must have Been there before him even going into that World, so therefore no way he made the door.
I have a potential theory for "The Owl House," could Luz (and humans in general) possibly be something of an amplifier for magic cast by witches? The reason I bring this up is because some of the most impressive feats (outside of Eda's) were performed with Luz either being directly involved or in close proximity to the spell being cast. Do you find this theory plausible or am I just finding something where there is nothing?
She’s the main character, we hardly go a few scenes without them being in it, as much as I like this, I think you’re just making something out of nothing
Sounds to me like you're trying to find something that isn't there.
Belos is definitely on my top 5 favorite villains. The others being Palpatine, Darth Vader, Horde Prime and Skeletor.
You know I never really noticed this but I think Belos was intended to be a sort of self made lich I mean just look at his original outfit it fits the description of what a lich would look like the narrow face the horns and his intentions match what a lich would do wiping out life
He looks like a modern Wendigo.
It wasn’t Hunter who reminded him it was Flapjack
"I hope the collector isn't some cookie soldier who sounds like a pink persian cat" this feels specific enough to be a reference, anybody?
“He felt something in her that he could pin point “ and that was called plot armor
Luz called them the coolest because they came to her aid which was the last thing she’d expected anyone to do
You really gotta love the fact that a seemingly obedient dog literally created to serve you....continues to betray you no matter how much you repeat the process..
You would think he would at some point realise that maybe he is the one in the wrong XD
Do you think when the collector meets eda he'll see the owl beast inside her and remove it so he can play with it.
I want eda to recognise his voice and go " wha- WAIT??!!!!"
tehy need bellos to find a way back to what's left of the boiling isles.
