They'll never know what it felt like to walk into a nightclub with this blasting, lights flashing and everyone just vibing on a level nowadays kids will never understand.
As we appreciate this classic, i read comments about what Lil Kim has done to her face. Let us remember that she was a victim of a world that made her feel as if she wasn’t already beautiful enough. She was and is a queen either way and let us give her flowers while she’s still here. ✨♥️
I don't think people give Kim the credit she truly deserves. Yeah she's getting her flowers, yes she got a BET Icon Award, yes she's presenting at different ceremonies but I feel like it's a bit of the end of the short-handed stick regarding her accolades. Homegirl should've swept the Grammy table in the hip-hop scene for her lyrical play and graced more well-known global magazines during & after her prime like "People", "Time" & "Vogue". Although pop culture was saturated with so many black honeys during the 90s, TLC brought up a good point during a 1999 interview when they disclosed they had to work 3x harder than their white counterparts to "at least" scrape attention to grace covers/sweep a decent accolade for all their work, and that was coming from a group that sold a Diamond-selling record not too long before this single by Kim dropped. It's mind-blowing. I believe had things turned out differently for Kim - less backlash, more recognition - this woman would be celebrated more as a *LEGEND than an underrated icon. Nobody in female hip-hop was doing the things fluidly the way Kim was doing it, baby.
@@UnreleasedUnderratedRnBgrooves you're welcome! Your channel is quite underrated! I most definitely will! My daughter Aaliyah was born in late '94. 33ladyRAM.....She was in love with Biggie and he broke her heart ... Biggie was only into "Light skinned" black girls and Kim wasn't light enough. She didn't know how to love and appreciate her darker skin after that. She use to be so beautiful back then.
@LIZZY Jackson It's tragically funny isn't it. But the blame goes back to Kim, not the ones she dated that told her "she wasn't good looking enough". There are good fellas out there with true genuine love for women. Women should look for these guys with heart instead of the ones with money and prestige.
@@damnson5079 BS, she's just like MJ, they lost to internal struggles of letting people or the media dictate how they should look like instead of appreciating what God has given them. Lil Kim was a very attractive girl that abused her sexuality and appearance. Wounds and bruises could either heal themselves or be surgically repaired. She butchered and puffed up her face, and bleached.
I can't look over that line 'And itchy gitchy yaya with the Marmalade'. Years later she was apart of Lady Marmalade and now it's her highest charting song to date. Prophetic almost.

It's Kim's second verse for me, she killt it. She was so courageous, and most definitely deserves to be paid homage as a pioneer. She was so young & beautiful here. The color scheme idea was genius. The video makes me smile. This is classic 💯
The reason Kim used so many different colored wigs was because her father was very adamant about her not changing her hair color even high lights so she said when she turned 18 she wore every color under the sun and thats became her signature look as a rapper. Now every single rap chick that came after Lil Kim has used Kims formula for their image using all these colors to become iconic visually but we all know Lil Kim is the original.

Prometra completely disagree but that’s our opinion. It was kind complete persona her looks and the subject matter that she spoke about. Literally every female rapper looks like Kim did and has the same subject matter it’s facts. You can debate your lyrical preference but you can’t debate her impact on female hip hop when it comes to looks and lyrical subject matter content
Prometra rapping is story telling. You don’t to rely on metaphors to tell a story, that’s not the foundation of rap. It can be used but not required. Good stories don’t need metaphors

As we appreciate this classic, i read comments about what Lil Kim has done to her face. Let us remember that she was a victim of a world that made her feel as if she wasn’t already beautiful enough. She was and is a queen either way and let us give her flowers while she’s still here. ✨♥️
AMEN
Well said. A little compassion goes a long way. ♥️
It’s not the world’s responsibility to make anyone let alone Lil Kim feel beautiful. That responsibility was hers.

It's been about 26 years or so and I still jam to this everyday 😂😂 Growing up in the 90s was a blessing 🙌
🎯💯 you couldn't have said it any better!

Nadine facts.
@LIZZY Jackson It's tragically funny isn't it. But the blame goes back to Kim, not the ones she dated that told her "she wasn't good looking enough". There are good fellas out there with true genuine love for women.
Women should look for these guys with heart instead of the ones with money and prestige.
I think she did surgery because she got bruises on face
@@damnson5079 BS, she's just like MJ, they lost to internal struggles of letting people or the media dictate how they should look like instead of appreciating what God has given them. Lil Kim was a very attractive girl that abused her sexuality and appearance. Wounds and bruises could either heal themselves or be surgically repaired. She butchered and puffed up her face, and bleached.

I’m only 19 years old and I love this song. I can sing lil Kim’s part with ease

Lyricly ı don’t think so
she doesn't good at making that word play
She has powerful bars but not meteporhs
Prometra completely disagree but that’s our opinion. It was kind complete persona her looks and the subject matter that she spoke about. Literally every female rapper looks like Kim did and has the same subject matter it’s facts. You can debate your lyrical preference but you can’t debate her impact on female hip hop when it comes to looks and lyrical subject matter content
Prometra rapping is story telling. You don’t to rely on metaphors to tell a story, that’s not the foundation of rap. It can be used but not required. Good stories don’t need metaphors
I was watching this video and I was like, "okay now I can see why she thinks Nicki stole her style." Actually it was when I was listening to how many licks and realized it's the same storytelling Nicki used in anaconda.
