Giveaway Closes April 27, 2024 (Full rules in description) - Comment on this video what your favorite thing to spray on the lawn is!
What do you have that kills Japanese knotweed? It is overtaking my lawn and garden.
Too bad I missed this before the giveaway😅 but bro the most valuable tip in this video has to be the PictureThis app. Not sure why more people aren’t talking about it. Been using it for years. Makes the DIYer’s life so much easier. The worst is when channels with a lot of influence don’t do the due diligence to identify weeds then spray blindly. Teaches poor practice🤦🏽♂️
Preach!
Thanks for all the info! So far I don’t have a favorite because I haven’t found a weed killer that seems very effective… now I know that I’m probably using the wrong one!🤦🏻♂️
Glad I could help!
4 speed xt is only one I have ever used but prefer focus on soil health and seeding over spraying but sometimes its needed.
Thank you for the great information.
i love spraying Four Play during summer stress and seeing it bring that dorment grass back to life! 😄
Another great video! I like to spray iron every few weeks to keep the lawn a deep, dark green.
Chelated liquid iron is always my go to for a color pop before company comes over!
Awesome video with great info as always. My favorite things to spray are root growth stimulants, sea kelp, humic acid and of course AMS. Keep up the great work!
St. Aug and on coast of NC. Blindside and tenacity are my go to mixes. Atrazine is a new product for me this season. Regular maintenance: mow 1-2/week, water, annual insecticide/fungicide, detach lightly, and core aerate. Fertilizer/micros/bio stims on scheduled basis throughout growing season. Lawn looks great, but could always look better
I feel that!
Lately my favorite thing to spray is citric acid, been on a never ending quest to reduce my lawns PH.
Welcome back bro!
My man 👊🏻👊🏻
Great video! I like to spray weeds before they become a problem! But I'm tired of holding around a small jug all the time!
I hear ya! Backpack sprayers are sooo worth it
Thank for the great information
I appreciate you watching!
I use Blindside it has been the best herbicide i've found to kill almost anything especially Nutsedge in my Zoysia and St Augustine lawn.
Warm season REPRESENTATIVE!
Thanks for the info, very helpful
You’re welcome 👍🏻👊🏻
Wow GREAT education given!! Thanks!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video. Thank you
👍🏻👍🏻
I like video had some great ideas I had not thought of. I like to spray anything that takes care of those weeds.
Thanks a lot for commenting and watching!
I sprayed some TZone and after two weeks the difference in the lawn is huge
That’s some good stuff!
I use a lot of box store stuff. Nothing works the same from one year to another. The had part is half of my Yard is Bermuda and the other is tall fescue. Still looking for the right combo of right stuff. Thanks for the info you have provided.
That’s a wicked combo for sure
Great video! My favorite thing to spray is ortho poison ivy and roundup commercial.
Thank you!
I’m just getting started spraying my lawn for the first time this season. I will be doing a spring over seeding, so I will spray mesotrione, as well as NPK fertilizer, ferrous sulfate, and a humic acid micro nutrient blend. Thank you for your videos and advice. JimL
I plan to do a video soon about how to spray AMS, so stay tuned if you’re interested!
Love your videos! Very informative. I also have a lot of weeds that I am going to destroy using your methods. Thanks
Thank you for this comment! Helps me know I’m doing the right thing.
Battleship 3 has been my go to
Great video, very informative. My favorite weed killer is Sublime. Great on weeds especialy on clover. 😀
That stuff is getting popular!
love this video
Thanks for letting me know - what’s the best thing about it?
Clover!
I’m surrounded by neighbors who don’t bother killing their weeds and it inevitably ends up finding its way to me. I stay on top of it, and the info in this video will help me tons. But clover is the one thing that just won’t stop. I’m thinking of buying a rabbit.
A rabbit 🤣
I’ll spray speedzone in my lawn this year, awesome content!!!
Thank you so much!!
First time I've seen the "Surfactant + AMS" product. Great video!
Thanks for commenting!
My favorites things to spray are herbicides, iron, NPK, & micronutrients. My yard is 30K SF, so I can use a good backpack sprayer. Thank you for the informative videos, please keep them coming.
I’m glad you like them!
1st timer here. Thanks for the tips on the products. I've been diyin' for only a couple of years now, but a little bit of knowledge goes a long way... Been very wet here in Md... Poa is my nemesis right now. Going to put down some speedzone Monday after I make my 2nd cut on Saturday after all this rain again.
Welcome to the channel!! Happy to have you!
Great video. I have a warm season grass so I like to spray Celsius WG for post emergent and Prodiamine for pre emergent.
Awesome, thanks for watching!
I use my 2 gallon sprayer from YM a lot. I use my sprayer to spray Talstar around exterior of the house and the yard, all my liquid NExt products. This week I started my AMS program, can't wait to see how things look after this week's rain.
I love AMS - it’s my staple fert
I spray speedzone on my tttf. I didn't have that many this year in the front. I just started to work on my back side. I had weeds back there. I need to give it a second spray. Good to see you back Kyle
Good to see you too!
Thanks for the tips. Been having a hard time ridding my lawn of invaders
You can do it! It’s a battle but well worth it in the end
Great info on the herbicides . We had a infestation of weeds last year . Sprayed Tenacity got rid of 90percent of weeds. this spring 2024 lawn is coming around Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
I like to spray root growth stimulator. Thanks for the Ammonium Sulfate tip!
Love me some kelp. Thanks for watching!
I have always applied my weedkiller with hose end sprayers. I have a 100 ft of hose to drag around, and I am done with that. Too old and fat to keep that up. Looking to continue my application with a back pack sprayer and hang up the hose for good.
Thanks for the tips after last summer definitely have some weed issues. A nice backpack sprayer would definitely help spray them :-)
I like spraying humic acid and sea kelp as it’s super easy.
Awesome video
I did a complete overseed in the backyard last year so the weeds came in strong without fall pre emergent. They’re on their way out tho!
I like to spray the box store products but from the looks of it I was wasting my money thanks for the video I appreciate it
I think you’ll have better luck with the pro grade stuff. You’ll never look back!
Great video 👍🏽
Thanks PJ hope you’re well
My favorite thing to spray is biostimants and Air-8. New construction yard that was just clay and rocks when I moved in.
I’m sure the lawn will be beautiful!
Great video. Very informative. I just started taking care of my elderly neighbor's yard and it's about 60% weeds. Will try to get rid of them and then seed her lawn in the Fall. This is Fun for me.
You can do it!
Thanks for the info. I'm a lawn rookie with with a cheap pump sprayer 😅 haha. So far all I've sprayed is Image Kills Nutsedge and Spectracide Weed Stop... still learning lol. Thanks again.
Well this would be a great upgrade!
I love spraying n ext products
I'm a big fan of spraying a combination mix of Tenacity and Speed Zone...trying Tenacity as a pre-emergent this year as well
I heard tenacity only works for about 30 days - let me know how it works!
OK, will do
Personally I like the 18-18-18 from Ryan Knorr’s LSC. Almost immediate color response 😎
soluble nitrogen is where it's at!
I've used tenacity with the Southern Ag Surfactant Non-ionic. I add a lawn dye so that I can see what weeds I have sprayed. Thanks for the water tip, I normally use my non-softened water, but now I'll use softened water to spray.
Thanks for watching!!!
Great info!
Wish my St.Aug wasn't so sensitive to many herbicides.
They all have different positives and negatives! I wish my grass spread!
Speed zone is my go too.
It’s a good one!
I like spraying spoon juice every couple weeks in the growing season 😀
Spoon Juice is a nice combo of goodies!
I'm just here for the crocs..... 🤣🤣
Glad I met your expectations, friend 😀
Greetings from Nixa. I like to spray a cocktail of RGS and Mesotrione.
Greetings and welcome!!!
Glad to see you back! I like to spray a cocktail of liquid fert, sea kelp powder, silica powder, yucca root powder and a splash of liquid iron.
Silica is one thing I have yet to experiment with!
I'm using silica for the first time this season. Have you seen any noticeable results with leaf rigidity etc ?
I like to spread om my lawn Image and specticum weed killer with crabgrass❤❤Get the job done!Good information on your video. Thanks!😊😊
Fantastic - thanks for watching
I'm in the market to upgrade my manual 2 gallon pump sprayer to a battery powered sprayer so that'd be awesome if I get selected in the drawing! Fingers crossed! Historically, I've just used big box store herbicides, but will need to try the pro-grade herbicides like SpeedZone.
I hope you win!
I've been a Spectracide sprayer for awhile now. Feel I like need to up my game. Also, I'm a Jerry Baker enthusiast so I've sprayed beer, soda, baby shampoo, and liquid ammonia on my lawns. :) Thanks for the info!
How’d that baker Combo work out!
@@TheLawnMentor Mixed results. Seemed to work well on my former St Aug lawn than it does on my current Bermuda. But I may try it again soon.
@@TommyLindquist lawn care is a fineky thing
Great video. I like to use speedzone on my lawn but unfortunately I can't get this product shipped to me anymore because of my state passing new laws. Keep up with the great content.
Which state are you in?
@@TheLawnMentor Washington
sticker shock is an understatement. $131.00 !
That’s likely the full gallon size. Check for the quart size
I wish I had the money to try the BIG BOYS, like Celsius and Blindside, but I usually go with the entry level professional, like speedzone.
It usually does just fine for me! Much better than big box store
Great video as always. I like to use Negate for the weeds, and mix it in an empty Talstar P container; along with another herbicide and dawn dish washing liquid, and marker dye... Love the N-Ext Products and Pre-Emergent for sure... Been scalping and using the negate for POA in my Bermuda...
N-Ext makes some very approachable products for sure! I like their Sea-K product
@@TheLawnMentor thought about Spoon Feed for and the normal Bio stems for an area I removed some trees in. Have you used spoon feed by N-EXT before ?
@andersonb8925 I think you mean Spoon Juice, right? I have used that product extensively - I made a whole series about it on the channel actually! I think it’s maybe the best fert that YardMastery ever made.
@@TheLawnMentor ill have to check out your videos and order some.
And we're off!!! Nice video bud. 👊👊👊👊👊👊
Happy lawn care season bro 😎
@TheLawnMentor its off to a great start 😜
@UrbanDadLawnCare doctors orders!
@@TheLawnMentor two things I've never listened to - my ex-wife and Doctors 🤣🤣
@@UrbanDadLife2024 hahaha 😂
Great info my friend. Fertilizer doesn’t have to cost you an arm and leg. The Cides should be your $$$ purchases.
Good to hear from you!!!
Trimec! But definitely prodiamine in late winter.
Good call!
Very helpful thanks 6:56
👍🏻👍🏻
I have used speedzone and torocity mixed. It kills majority of weeds together. I also use the Image that kills nutsege separately. P.S. I do believe you have to use a higher dose of Torocity then Tenacity so it may not be worth the ten bucks savings.
I’m hearing this is a famous combo!
My favorite thing to,spray is def… pure urea😀
I have yet to try this 🤔
I hit the lawn with wedbgon a surfactant and blue die as i tend to spot spray. Wish I could get speedzone in nj
I wish I had a small amount of weeds that justified only spot spraying 🤣
I plan to start using ammonium sulfate for this reason; on a well in Georgia; always use the surfactant; anyway, the sulfate ions tie up calcium and magnesium in the mix water, adding AMS to the spray solution after adding the glyphosate will do little to improve the herbicide's activity; 4TBSP per gallon is enough?
Are you using straight AMS?
My favorite thing to spray is biostimulants. 🙂
Very nice - which one is your favorite?
@@TheLawnMentor not sure I have a favorite….I really like anything that includes humic.
Love the channel! Unfortunately, I cannot buy Speed Zone in my state do you have another herbicide(s) that you would recommend? Can’t wait for the giveaway results too. Thanks!
Which weeds are you trying to kill?
Mostly hairy bittercress, creeping Charlie, clover and Bermuda grass😬
And what kind of grass do you have (that you wanna keep)?
I guess I should have lead with that lol. Cool season grass. The grass I want to keep is a variety of every kind of cool season grass that you can think of.
Still trying a few new products myself, My TTTF/Texas Bluegrass 80/20 mix loved Yard Mastery Flagship!!! have stress blend for the hot/humid coastal Va weather and just ordered 18lb bag of the 16-0-0 double dark to try soon. Those apps to identify weeds are perfect , they will def save you a ton of $ in the big picture!!! btw theres alot of truth in what was said about tap water used in mixing..We did a small test here with tap, destilled, and dasani bottled water, Tap water was last, longer time, less activity over 3 days etc..the other 2 were a lil better but tbh not enuff for a change..I guess my tap water is ok lol.....GL in the lawnssssssss🤣
Wow that’s quite the water test there!! Great idea! Thanks for watchingn
@@TheLawnMentor bored neighbors come up with crazy stuff, Im game lol
@@TheLawnMentor great content btw
@@robturner7853 haha like a good neighborrr
@@TheLawnMentor ok , no state farm intros lol
I use Torocity which is generic version or Tenacity
Do you spray all your weeds with just that?
Yes...I'm in the Dallas area and it works well with every type of weed...just that mixed with 2 gallons of water
@mzm09876 nice!!
Liquid iron and rgs
Oh yeah liquid iron is a good one to have in “the tool kit”
What homeowners want is how to kill all weeds (dandelions and clover) for cheap!😊
You can buy something once and apply once or buy something multiple times and apply multiple times! Your choice! 😀
@TheLawnMentor when choosing to go organic, what do we do?
Just want to say that when you dilute it the rates come out the same.
Not sure how the rates are the same if you use 1 gallon of carrier water per ‘X’ oz of product and they have different concentrations
I'm still trying to find me some LIQUID MILORGANITE that won't hurt the lawn when I over apply it. =D
I’ve turned my lawn black before by applying too much iron 😳
.
you found me!
You lost me after you said "hack"
Identify the weed, use the correct herbicide, and use additives to do it right the first time? How logical, why didn't I think of this😁 Been struggling with the lawn for years, will follow directions this time! Thanks!!🙃
Thank you for watching!
@69transam1976 Congrats! You've been picked as the winner of the Chapin backpack sprayer! You have 24 hours to contact me at thelawnmentor@gmail.com to arrange for your new backpack sprayer. Thanks for watching and commenting!
