    You come to the realization, that what is not growing is dead... you want more out of life and your lawn instead of the same ole same ole... and now renovation, and being more than before, just the way you would like it is the destination ahead... And because you are doing it, you will appreciate the journey and all that you learn along the way... And you will see, like a father to a child, each days progress and growth, where others may not... 😁

    Best of luck with this! I can't wait to see the results. When you did your first spray, did you leave your grass long or scalp it? Why did you choose what you chose? And for the 2nd spray, it looks like you sprayed the entire lawn again. Why not just spray the green parts? Do you plan on doing any leveling? If so, what material will you use?

    • @TheLawnMentor
      @TheLawnMentor  2 года назад

      I left the grass at around 3” because the grass blades need to absorb the glyphosate. More surface area. I sprayed the whole lawn again to ensure all stragglers were totally dead. There were small parts scattered around my yard that were still alive. Anything from here on out will be spot sprays. I do plan on leveling with straight compost. My CEC is really low (Sandy soil) so I really need to get more organic material into the lawn.

      @@TheLawnMentor Thanks for another informative and well-put-together video. As much as I would love to do a full lawn renovation like this, I have 3 big dogs, so trying to burn out my backyard and start over from seed would be nearly impossible. This is something I could potentially do in my front yard though, so I look forward to seeing your progress. I sprayed the weeds I asked you about with Tenacity. If it starts to die, it isn't Bermuda. If it lives, glyphosate is my only option

    After it's killed, how long do you have to wait before re-seeding?

    • @TheLawnMentor
      @TheLawnMentor  7 месяцев назад

      There should be a recommendation on your label for the herbicide you’re using so follow that. I waited a week because I wanted to make sure the grass/weeds were completely dead. I’d personally wait a week.

    • @crand20033
      @crand20033 7 месяцев назад

      @@TheLawnMentor I think round-up says 4 months.

    • @TheLawnMentor
      @TheLawnMentor  7 месяцев назад

      I think technically you can see the exact same day as a glyphosate app. Double check your label.

  • @shane6002
    @shane6002 2 года назад +1

    So you leave the lawn longer when your killing it off then after the second or third app a week in-between you scalp it down to the lowest setting possible? also can you leave it dead through the winter and seed in the spring very interested thanks for making the video so down to earth style

    • @TheLawnMentor
      @TheLawnMentor  2 года назад

      YES THAT IS KEY! Great pick up from this….you want the grass blades to have some length so they can absorb the glyphosate better - then, once you’re confident it’s dead, you can scalp all the dead material away. And don’t forget the watering part! As for the winter question, you could kill it in the fall if you wanted, but fall is when cool season lawns shine! I would plan it for late summer next year.
