Great review on Squirt chain lube, Adam. I have been using Squirt lube, like you, for about 3 weeks. It is realy awesome! No more dirty hands repairing a flat tire. You can literaly grab your chain while taking out your rear wheel. No dirty hands! So glad i changed from oil to Squirt lube! Best regards from greatest smal cycling country BELGIUM.
Hi Adam! I use Squirt on all of my bikes; mountain and road bikes. It's a great switch from oil and dirty transmision. No more degreasing and getting dirty. Works for miles and miles in every condition.
@@junboo8730 Since a new chain is still factory lubed, you would have to degrease it just like any other chain. I did it with brake cleaner on a new chain.
Just cleaned the chain like crazy. While off the bike I put a line of Squirt on and worked it in with a tooth brush. Went riding after chain dried. She shifted so quietly and smoothly. The chain was clean as a whistle after the ride. GREAT Lube ! The lube I got was way thinner than toothpaste, must have worked on the formula.
I warm up the squirt in hot water then add Teflon powder and mix well. Wow...you can feel the difference immediately. PTFE powder is pricey but it really makes a huge difference.
I'm evaluating both the Squirt and Rock 'n Roll Gold on my two bikes now, after being a long-term user of oil-based chain lube (Pro Gold Pro Link). I can't say that one wax lube is better than the other, but am absolutely perceiving an improvement over the oil-based, regardless of which one. The mountain-gravel bike drive-train looks so much nicer than it used to, after a decent ride on crushed limestone or similar surface. Even the road bike would pick up its share of dust, which of course would turn into an ugly paste. Both chains and cassettes look so much better now!
@@AdamJStoryDC Had the first ride yesterday and chain is quiet and gear changes slick so I'm happy. I used muc off de-greaser then hot washing up liquid to wash then waited to dry and after that applied twice 10 mins apart. left overnight and works fine.
Hey this is great, thanks! I bought Squirt a year or so ago and didn't like it on my first initial ride so I stripped it and went back to Boesheild but I've been thinking about revisiting Squirt. I'll give it a few rides to see how it sets in. Thanks again for the great review.
Here's another video I did: ruclips.net/video/0jYncu4yaNk/видео.html If you want to try again, I'd try with a new chain. Clean is spotless. Use the wax. Put it on twice. If you don't like it. put the chain in boiling water and get all the wax off and just go back to oil.
What about pully lubricant. When using normal oil, the oil also going to pully and it use for pully lubricant. But for Squirt, it will not go to the pully I think. ?
@@AdamJStoryDC by using teflon powder as an additive, either mixed with the squirt before application or placed on the wax already dry as a "sugar impalpable" mode.. Perhaps you could get similar results to those of a chain treated with PTFE as those of ceramic speed.. should work!
Ordered this a few days ago riding trails on gravel bikes with muc off dry lube I gota clean chain every 2-3 rides it’s a hassle, it’s so dirty go through rags like crazy hopefully squirt will work
Hi, I use in Spain Cerabike wax lube, which it can be sold in Decathlon or in Internet. It is a very good product for all the conditions. Waxxing the chain takes time. Also, I think It is not a good idea to take away the chain every time you rewax the chain.
Very informative. Two questions, how noisy is it? Apparently the paraffin wax version is quite noisy. Do you ever need to completely clean off all of the wax , like you would degrease oil lube or just lightly wipe it clean with a rag and keep reapplying? Thanks!
First ride was noisy because I didn't put enough wax on. Once I figured it out, added more. I wipe the chain with a rag, then reapply the wax for the life of the chain. Thanks for watching. BTW: I have a new channel called "Cycling in Southern California" if you'd like to check it out, geared totally to cycling only.
Look at Ceramic Speed Frction facts tests, they highly recomend Squirt on the chain. A whole f..ckload easier than doing the melted parafin wax deal, PIA.
i use ceramic muc off dry lube ceramic, 1,5 years of use mi chain, is new. squirtz dry is better than muc off lube dry ceramic? works on days dry and wet? works at summer and winter?= thanks!
Does the squirt lube need to be applied after every ride or could I just wipe the chain and ride a couple of more times before applying the lube again?
i did degrease and the clean the chain throughly then apply the wax lube and leave it overnight,,,, is the chain suppose to feel greesy and sticky?... after riding i did a test rub with my finger.. it seems there's dark residue stain... where did i do wrong?
You put the wax on and left it overnight and now there's a dark greasy sticky residue? That's strange. Mine chain looks white and the wax dries. I'm not sure why yours did that.
Hello. I just got myself a new road bike and I would like to use the squirt lube. My question to you is; After degreasing the drivetrain should I apply anything the the cassette as well as the chain or is the squirt lube applied to the chain only sufficient for the entire drivetrain? I too have limited time for the hassle of the chain dip in wax method. I would much rather spend my time riding. Thank you for the video!!
Chain was fully degreased and spotlessly clean and dry. Sorry but this stuff is not for me. Don't like the black waxy build up and chain noise. I'll be sticking with fenwicks professional
Probably not. Can you tell the difference between a clean chain and a dirty one when you ride? It's weird isn't it? I mean, you'd swear you can tell. Am I the only one?
I can assure you that the wax works pretty well on my mountain bike too. I ride enduro bike, I ride a lot uphills and tough technical downs. I use this wax almost two year already and I'm more than impressed. I will not go to any other wax ever since. Every single thing said in this video is true and can be said for MTB too.
You say it comes out like tooth paste, how bout put the jar under hot water in the sink then apply , bet she comes out less thick. And dont apply to a cold chain ? Comments ?

I like it. The only disadvantage is that you have to clean your chain in the beginning really well.

I have a new bike, 0 miles. Can I just put this on the chain without cleaning it?. It looks clean but I bet it has to have a thin layer of oil.

Outside temperature affects it. Shake it well and apply it warm and it will be easier (I found out after making the video).
Squirt Lube is awesome! I use it in the UK even in winter, for wet days I just take a little Squirty to reapply on long days. Its so much cleaner!!!
I like it so far. Thanks for watching and subscribing

I'm sure Pro Gold Link and Squirt are 1/2 a dozen and Six of Another, but you can always try both and see what you like better.
Just been applying squirt to my fairly new hybrid bike in Scotland. Will see soon if it works OK. Thanks for your review.
Best of luck!

Great info! Did u dilute the Simple Green to degrease the chain? If so, how much did u dilute it? Cheers!
I didn't. I used the strong stuff.

When using normal oil, the oil also going to pully and it use for pully lubricant.
But for Squirt, it will not go to the pully I think.

Love it here in dry Colorado. I got the big 17oz workshop size. Apply the night before and it lasts for days.
Cool!
Hi Adam. WOW, this is great feedback! Thanks #ApplyPerformance #SquirtChainLube
how's it working roughly a year later? noticed any less wear on your components? cheers
Cleaner, for sure. I'll go out on a gravel ride and come home to wipe the chain and there's hardly anything compared to when I used to use oil.
It is convenient to add PTFE teflón to improve performance. ?
You could, but I don't. To me it's more convenient to just use the Squirt as is.

I find the chain rollers don’t spin as well with Squirt compared to a typical light oil.
They will because the oil is lighter.

hi - good review, thanks. I ride a MTB in the UK and have started using Squirt. How long before you reapply this stuff?
My cyclocross bike, about every 100 miles. My road bike, about every 200.
Great review. Regards from the UK! :)
What do you use in wet conditions?
Same thing. Squirt. Wax doesn't let the water in. However, absolutely clean and re-wax after.
