They need to stop calling the ultraboost a running shoe, its a shoe designed for walking and comfort really. No one is gonna use the Ultraboost for running unless they don't know how good other shoes are for the same price or less.
SL20s were the first non-Asics shoe I've tried in years. 400 miles in and I'm still loving them. No knee aches, plenty forgiving, can race a 5k or go for a 15k in them. A great versatile shoe for someone who doesn't have multiple ones. I'm thinking I might need to try out the SL.
I've gotten so spoiled by the LS pro in the Prime X, Pro 3 and Takmumi Sen 8 that its hard for me to go back to Lightstrike now. Feels like a total brick to my old legs. LOL
Adidas SL is really a great all around shoe. I have loved using it for long runs, easy runs, longer efforts, recovery days. I don't understand how anyone would not love it.
Great video, I switch between the adizero adios and the Takimi sen for my fast days. Amazing feeling shoes. Hope to try the pro 3s one day. Keep the videos coming!
Legit such a useful breakdown! Have really wanted to try some Adidas shoes because they seem to be killing it with the newer models, but I feel they just have too many to choose from - total minefield scrolling through them on their website. This video is basically the perfect remedy for that. I've got a much better idea of what I'm looking for now. Much appreciated Tinmen and best of luck through 2023!
The SL trainer is just the shoe I feel like you guys have been waiting for. Excited to see how it impacts y'alls training. The durability is a huge selling point for the average consumer. Something i'm definitely looking forward too as I don't like to buy too many shoes. Would be grateful if y'all could send a pair my way!
The only pair I had of Adidas was the sl 20 that I got on sale and it really changed my running in high that I used for workouts. I enjoy the wider toebox a lot and last forever since I've always run in Nike and their shoes are narrow and wear out pretty easy so I wanted something different. Ever since I wanted to get another pair of Adidas especially since all the improvements Adidas made
Just upgraded my worn Boston 10s to the 11s and excited to have some Pro 3s on the way for half marathon races this summer and fall. Love the SL feedback as I've been looking for a lighter trainer for easy runs - will definitely be looking to snag a pair of those!
Pro 3 has been excellent for me at tempo and race day efforts. So good I bought a second pair and I am picky and rarely get the same shoe twice. Best of luck to you in half marathons . For whatever reasons I have been able to find adios pro 3 at more reasonable sale prices.
Thanks for taking us through the new shoe lineup! Adidas has definitely been crushing it the past few years. Can’t wait to slip on a pair of those Adizero SL
9:29 My 2 cents, the outsole of Adizero SL is not Continental Rubber like those high end Adizero, but Sam’s point is still valid cause’ it’s still very durable.
Finally, a shoe lineup video! Missed out on 2022 but I'm not complaining. I'm running my first half marathon on April 30 and I'm still debating on whether to get the Adios Pro 3 or the Saucony Endorphin Pro/Speed 3. Anyways advice on which one to get before it's time for me to taper?
yeah we felt like the shoes were not updated enough to do a 2022 video! Glad to be back with some big upgrades. Both are great shoes so don't stress over the decision --> the Adios Pro 3 will be a more aggressive racing shoe than the Endorphin. So definitely will want to get some long run / workouts in it before race day.
@@TinmanElite In your opinion, would the Adios Pro 3 be a good fit for overpronators? You see, I have a tendency to overpronate and I've actually had good mileage with your Solarcontrol shoe. But my worry is if a super shoe is okay to race or workout in.
Great vid Adidas killing it lately. Terms of the Adios Pro 3 (AP3) vs Takumi Sen they are similar in many ways but will say the Takumi's are significantly more narrow than the AP3. Something to keep in mind case looking at them thinking they are just a lower stack version of the AP3's - very different geometries.
Love the takumi and adios pro line. I started off with ultra running. Ran a 12 hour race as my first race. As I've been exploring traditional distances I've only raced in adidas. Current 5k and half PR are both in adidas shoes. Gonna do a 10k and full Mary next and def will use the takumi and pro 3 for these 😊
Been trying to get a pair of the Boston 11s for a while, still haven’t gotten a pair yet but definitely on my list for a pair of shoes in the future! But I did order the TME singlet and the TME rain jacket during that flash sale! Stoked for those! Keep up the hard work guys!
Been using Adidas a lot lately across the spectrum, my faves are definitely the Takumi sens but have been wanting to try the Adios pro 3s for a while now! Just got the SLs too and those have been really impressive considering the price point. Love this run down as it’s sometimes hard to tell the difference between all the Adidas shoes!
Just ordered my second pair of SL's. Great daily trainer and really versatile for different runs and tempos. Really feels like an update to the older Boston pairs like the 9s but with more cushion for daily miles.
Seems all the adidas pros like Lightstrike/Lightstrike Pro more than Boost now, but Boost was all the rage a few years ago. What’s different/better about Lightstrike?
Loving the colors! I really need to check out the SL! Do you find the Boston 11 to be louder than previous versions when making contact with the ground? Might just be in my head but they seem to slap hard.
Got to say that the adidas takumi sens is my favorite running shoe by adidas so far. I will definitely need to check out the SL as I’m in need of a new do it all/ long run shoe.
Thank you the great overview, guys. I’ve been running in solarglide st stability shoes for the past few years, and these have been working very well for me. Now it’s time for another pair of adidas daily trainers, that are not too cushy, a little less bulky, and still fairly stable. Would you recommend adizero sl for a slight overpronation? I’m loving the design and specs of adizero sl, but unfortunately these are not yet available in my country. Would be happy to win a pair from you:)
We would say the solarglide or solarboost would be a better option if you're looking to get away from the solarglide st shoes-- they don't have the same guide rail as the ST, but will have more reinforced uppers to help a little with the pronation. The SLs are very neutral, so won't help much with pronation.
i am also a steeplechaser at the moment i run in the nike dragonfly but i definetly have trouble with the barriers being to slippery for the draginfly and the DF is not agressive enoigh would the ambition be a good replacement
Do you ever feel there’s a difference between wearing a shoe for practice versus racing? For instance if you had to do a 15 mile long run with pick ups would you wanna use a shoe like the adios pro which would be great for more mileage or a Boston for speed on those pick ups?
We stick to Adios Pro 3s only for interval training type of workouts. When it comes to long runs, where we usually don't switch out our shoes before doing any tempo or short pickups, so we just use the Bostons or SLs and accept that performance will be a little less. A little bit more stable and less aggressive compared to the Pro 3s for being on feet for a long time. If Reed is doing a marathon simulation workout during a long run, he will wear the Pros just for race feel.
This was a great video, as an xc ski atlhete i ran a lot expecially in early season, and I would like to know some more about the sl. For me, doing a lot of easy run and putting hours on the leg, having a good shoes is fondamental. Is the shoe "resposnive" but soft enough to be an easy run shoes but that i can also use to recover? I have a pair of boston 10 and the idea of running in the sl has always tempted me.
The Boston 10/11 is a workhorse for the sub-elite, but needs to be broken in before it feels great. Do you know of any updates coming to the lightstrike EVA foam?
Which shoe would you recommend for a recreational runner who typically does all her running in the same trainer type shoes but is looking to try a racing/faster shoe? I’m hoping to run a 5K PB this summer
hmmmmm what shoe do you train in currently? The SL is a great lightweight trainer that lasts forever. Our athletes would race any road 5k in the Adios Pro 3. Definitely will be a crazy experience feeling all the cushion and spring in that shoe for races vs a normal training shoe.
@@TinmanElite Thanks for replying! I currently run in ASICS gel cumulus. I’m on my second pair and they’ve treated me well. I’m ready for a change though. Thanks for the advice!
Cool video. Thanks. I had the adidas adizero adios 6 and am interested in the adidas SL (glad they brought them back, had a pair of the SL20) how do those 2 specifically compare? They seem similar? Stack height, cushioning, support... thank-you Micah
SL is going to be more of a daily trainer type shoe, whereas the Adios 6 is more of a workout specific shoe (tempo runs, track work, etc). More stack height on the SL, softer midsole cushioning than adios 6.
Unfortunately we were not sent the Prime X, as it's not legal for World Athletics events, but we've heard it's an unreal shoe! Might just have to ask for it in the next distro for our training.
The SL is going to give more of a daily trainer type feel as opposed to a workout shoes. Little heavier, more material in the upper, softer midsole. But still a great shoe for everything!
Top video guys. I’ve just started running in Solarglides and they are mint. Love them so much that I’ve just ordered a set of Ultaboost as an alternative and looking at the LIghtstrike Takumi Sens as my next race shoe. 🙌
Great breakdown of the Adi's. Thank you guys. I am a heel striker. I was thinking about getting the trio of the SL- Takumi - Pro 3 for everything from easy to race days. Are those good options? Are they true to size?
Looking for a summer milage shoe that would be for long runs and fartleks that I could pick up the pace for. It looks like the Boston or the SL would be the best ideas. Overall, how many miles can they both support without risking any kind of injury, because I've had a few injuries over the past few seasons.
SL will easily get you 300-350 miles, and the Boston 350-400. Just depends on if it's your only shoe, or if it's a part of a rotation! Both will get the job done for what you're looking for, but be aware the Boston's will be a stiffer shoe overall, even with more midsole cushion.
How would you describe the difference between the Adios 7 and the Takumi Sen 9? I bought Adios 7s for 5k / fast workouts; but I find them too hard, and rather dull; no snap or bounce. I’m toying with the idea of Takumi Sen 9s to replace; but am worried there is little difference. I’m a Pro 2 guy for half and full marathons (and I love em 😊) Cheers
Ok. I think the Adilette clog is the most interesting 😊 Is there Tinman elite edition? And what about the Adizero Sl, is on Tinman elite edition also? Thank!
In my rotation I have a pair of SL20s and Boston 11s and love them both, I bought the SL20s after I watched a shoe video with Reed in it and decided I needed them. Do the new SLs perform similarly to the SL20s? And in case any one else was wondering I logged 1k miles in a pair of Boston 10s before I ungraded to the 11s. Thanks for the great video guys!
Unfortunately we were not sent the Prime X, as it's not legal for World Athletics events, but we've heard it's an unreal shoe! Might just have to ask for it in the next distro for our training.
Hey guys i'm wondering could use recommend me a shoe? I love the adidas brand but i have only used the adidas rc2 and rc3 (rc3's being my fav shoes i have ran all my 10k's and halfs in this shoe) and the adidas adios adizero 5 i also use. I like the feeling of the ground and i am also a midfoot forefoot striker and i tend to stay away from shoes that look like they have massive platforms 😂 i love the look of takumi sens but i have never ran in a carbon plate so i don't know what they are like and i have never tried bostons or sl. Is there any shoe simular to the ones i have been using or something i might like?
I returned Adios 7 found it bland on the road, only used for track workouts, now replaced by Takumi Sen 8. That one is great for technical 5 & 10k, any longer it becomes massively uncomfortable. For easy and long runs (including progression) I use SL, so not sure where a Boston fits in. It's got rods, so why not just use the Pro 3s then? 3s are great for non-technical 5k up to HM races for me. AS for track races, I used Avanti for 1500 to 10K. Is there a noticeable pop from Ambitions?
Good move for transition to Takumi Sen for racing. Adios Pro 3 definitely the move for 10k +. It really comes down to personal preference. I think most of us, if we had to choose just 2, would have the SL and Pro 3 for easy running and then faster training. Bostons are a good shoe to mix things up for us every now and then, just because we have them on hand.
Crazy to not see the Prime X being included. I know fully it's not aloud for racing, but for long tempos it'd seem (at least to me) to be a great training tool! Do you never use those?
The dirt roads in Boulder are pretty bumpy and with the high stack height, we don't want to risk a sprained ankle. Adidas doesn't even send us a pair because its stack height is banned for professionals as you mentioned. Like having access to a sports car you arent allowed to drive haha
They need to stop calling the ultraboost a running shoe, its a shoe designed for walking and comfort really. No one is gonna use the Ultraboost for running unless they don't know how good other shoes are for the same price or less.

I have already 3-4 pairs of shoes :P Wanna try ADIDAS...i'm 48yrs 192cm....Takumo Sen 9 for 100€ good option or should i got with SL, Boston 11/12?
what shoe would you recommend for a tempo day that has enough cushion to warm up and cool down in? love the vids keep up the grind!!
Boston 11 forsure!
Sick colorways
sea foam green is v solid
I’m a little surprised the prime x strung wasn’t mentioned here.
I also can’t wait to see what TME colour ways you come up with this year
Unfortunately we were not sent the Prime X, as it's not legal for World Athletics events, but we've heard it's an unreal shoe! Might just have to ask for it in the next distro for our training.
@@TinmanElite I did think that was why. Should definitely ask them to send you a pair for training. I tneeds to be the strung though
Please which shoes is the best for wide and beginner runner i need help
Try the adidas Adizero SL !!
@@TinmanElite thanks for the info.
Love the video. Would love to see what you guys pack for travel meets (like 3 day trip vs 2 week trip)
We'll put it on the list for upcoming videos!
@@TinmanElite bought the Ambition, will see what they offer
Crazy to not see the Prime X being included. I know fully it's not aloud for racing, but for long tempos it'd seem (at least to me) to be a great training tool! Do you never use those?
The dirt roads in Boulder are pretty bumpy and with the high stack height, we don't want to risk a sprained ankle. Adidas doesn't even send us a pair because its stack height is banned for professionals as you mentioned. Like having access to a sports car you arent allowed to drive haha
What type of distance would you where a SL for?
Easy/ recovery all the way to uptempo runs. We recommend the Adios Pro 3 or Takumi Sen 9 for anything faster.
I think the adizero SL is the baby brother of the AP 3 aesthetic wise 🤑
I love the tme designs for shoes! Keep it up!
How's the toebox width of the SL relative to the Boston 11?
boston its a little narrow if you compare with the sl, and the sl its more cushy
@@rodrigogorosito4206 Thank you!
@@rodrigogorosito4206 agreed ^
The sl looks like such a good shoe
I have 23 pairs of Adidas shoes in my closet...please send another! (PS I have the Tinman Solarglides ... love em ;)
no way, we need proof ;)
Great lineup 😍. If you could only wear one of these shoes for all training what would it be?
SL!
I get that the prime x is illegal and all but it can still be helpful in training
I could be wrong but i don't think the adizero sl has the continental rubber.
hmmm if not it's very similar.
@@TinmanElite No worries love the shoe insight regardless! keep up the good work guys!
Such a helpful video and so fun 🎉
