RIP Karl Malden (March 22, 1912 - July 1, 2009), aged 97
You will be remembered as a legend.
A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE is my all-time favorite movie and it won Best
Actress(Vivien Leigh), Best Supporting Actress(Kim Hunter), and of course, the
late, great Karl Malden won as well. My only regret is that Marlon Brando did not
win his first Oscar for this film, as nobody deserved it more than he did.
RIP Karl. You were one of the best!
Had the honor of meeting him and I do mean honor. He was wonderful, humble and funny. I'll always remember you Karl. You deserved this and a lot more
Of course you did.
As a kid I remember him from The Streets of San Francisco and the American Express card ads Don't leave home without it!😎👍😊
I love how she named the studios that released the nominated movies.
Hollywood sure was different then.
Not all films with Karl Malden are great, But most of the great films have Karl Malden.
+Raul Luevano What what?! I meant that he has starred in some of the really great films - ''Streetcar Named Desire'', ''On the Waterfront'', ''Baby Doll'', ''Patton'', ''I, Confess'', ''The Gunfighter'' and ''The Cincinatti Kid''. But, he has also starred in some lousy ones - ''Nuts'' and ''Blue''. Why do you ask?
he wasn't in The Mummy Returns, and that's my favorite movie of all time.
Great performance in a memorable film. RIP Karl Malden.
I love watching these old clips and how honest the presenters were when awarding them. You couldn't get away with a comment like "good, it's so-and-so" today.
Keep posting them!
He deserved it,incredible actor and to this date the best "Mitch"Ive ever seen!
Karl Malden has great acting in A Streetcar Named Desire.
True Actors at its best. When acting was an art. such is that era
That noise Danny Kaye makes was so funny.
He was SO modest.
No. 1 RIP Karl Malden, a brilliant actor. No. 2 Look at Claire Travor! All the fashonistas, stylists etc of today couldn't even hope to equal that glamour!
*Trevor
I don't like the fact that she said "oh good" right before saying Karl Malden's name, even if he DID deserve to win. I find that remark to be a little insulting to the rest of the nominees that year (including a favorite of mine, Gig Young).
Now having said that, I do love Clair Trevor and Karl Malden :)
Maybe Ustinov could deserved it too
Yah, I was thinking the same thing lol. I mean of course Karl was great but so were the others. I would have been like....what am I CHOPPED LIVER?? lol
A consistently excellent actor... well, maybe a little over the top in Baby Doll (George Burns asked him on the Tonight show once if he got paid for that one) but he made most everything a little better by his presence in it. Nobody ever played Mitch in Streetcar better than Mr Malden and nobody ever will. "All lies inside and out!" He was perfection.
well said
He was 40 or about to turn it and his best known role was 20 years away. Michael Douglas was about 8 years old.
apparently Malden was long time friends with the Douglas family, and would have known Michael...forever!
RIP Karl Malden. They don't make them like him anymore. Rest in peace. ❤🙏
This reminds me of an artist who won a grammy a few years back and all he said was, "Thank You" and walked off. Cracked me up!
Joe Pesci ?
Oscar winning Serb Mladen Sekulović. SERBIA!!!!
in a interview they did with karl malden he said he was so nervous that night he got stuck into traffic on his way 2 the oscars and humphrey bogart was sitting behind him and he had a coat that he borrowed from a friend and he asked bogart to watch it and he said yes and when he went backstage 4 press and bogart won that year 4 best actor and karl asked "What did you do with my coat?" and bogart looked at him and said "Fuck you coat u just won an oscar!!!!"
I wish he won Oscar for On the waterfront too. Great actor! He would be a STAR in Soviet Union. But for Hollywood he wasn't sexy.
RIP Karl, a fine actor.
malden was a great actor
this is so cool
Peter U-steen-noff was also really amazing as an actor!
Beautiful dress...
I adore Karl Malden. Such a humble icon. Evidently he wore a raincoat to the awards. Sitting next to Humphrey Bogart, he asked him to watch the coat when he accepted the award. Afterward he asked Bogsrt and Bigsrt said something g like, what do you care? You just one an Oscar?
A truely great actor.
Oh Danny makes me laugh!
Malden was a great serious professional artist, respected by the entire establishment....we'll never remember him.
r.i.p. big nose
I hope you mean "we´ll never forget him" instead of "remember him". ;-)
@@fernetpunker wrote that 12 yes ago
@@fernetpunker 12 years ago i was happy...and didn t know it
RIP Karl
I loved him
Proud Serbian
Peter Ustinov estuvo nominado a Mejor Actor, por interpretar a Nerón en el clásico "Quo Vadis"
I guess he (she?) wanted to say: we'll never FORGET him.
@cellardoor199991 Yeah because everyone wanted to do Brando when he was Don Corleone, right?
Karl Malden was absolutely believable in Fatal Vision as a father who was determined to put the man who murdered his daughter and his two granddaughters behind bars. A true story.
"oh good!"
RIP Karl, you the man!!
RIP
Good choice but the poor man got so confused.
And Humphry Bogart was minding his coat.

This movie earned 3 academy awards out of the 4 acting categories. i feel so sorry for the best actor nominee cause he's the only one who didn't win. best actress, best supporting actor&actress won but best actor didn't. such cruelty lololol
And his (Marlon Brando) performance was later considered to be one of the most influential in cinematic history. At least he won 3 years later for "On the Waterfront", which was also considered to be very influential
Marlon Brando was ripped of from the oscar in that legendary movie , his acting made this film famous through out the whole world and it was definately cruel from Oscar comeety to ignore the main character in the movie .
Нека ти је вечна слава и хвала Србине❤
To me, karl will always be general omar bradley in Patton and streets of san Francisco

I appreciate your opinion, dperez1963. But what's wrong with a little spontaneity? And among professionals like Ms. Trevor as an actor, who hasn't felt good when someone doing very good work unrecognized finally does get recognized.
I can't read Ms. Trevor's mind, but I think that's what she had in mind.
Peter Ustinov for Quo Vadis
@TheSuppActress love it when people notice stuff like that great job halarious watched it 5,6 times laughing
Hit it and quit it, class
COLOR? since when in 1952?
your are correct in '66 Oscar went to color on ABC.
dont know what this was in 1951, although some news thing may have filmed it as oscars did not hit TV until 1953!
well deserved! :) I also wish Mr. Burr should have been nominated for his superb acting performance in `a Place in the sun´ he had very Amazing acting when he was with the great clift! I also hate that this is in the annöying color! :)
The reason why Karl was bad ass is because he was famous as a pure actor of ability and intellect. Let's face it Brando was the best but much of his fame is because all the girls wanted to fuck him. He was a pimp. Karl was famous on pure ability. I'm not saying he was ugly. He was just normal looking like me. Nothing special. That guy was smart as hell, too
oos-TEEN-off?
SRBENDA !
He was better in On the Waterfront.
traducirlo porfavor
w00t!
Srbin breee💪💪💪🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸
1st comment bitches!!!
COLOR.
For some reason I can't reply to the guy asking about color.
The clip was shot on film, not TV, and the commentary we hear is from the radio broadcast, which is why they're tell us what's happening on stage.
Peter Oss-TIN-off??
that was clumsy
karl was great in this movie, but his awards acceptance speech skills need refining.
Gig young committed suicide .I think,❤
GIG YOUNG SHOULDA WON!!!!!!!!!
