    They need to do one of these again on the Oscars! So many wonderful stars and so many of them are gone now. The loudest ovations were for Shirley Temple and Gregory Peck and rightly so! Two of my favorites, Claire Trevor and Teresa Wright - Wow! They don't make them like that anymore!

      Christmas Snow they were big during the golden age of Hollywood, which truly was the golden age because movies were awesome. I’m still a young man and I love movies from that era.

      I agree. But unfortunately the Oscars (or at least the network) are more concerned about ratings and they equate ratings to shorter run-times and honoring superhero movies. A show which takes the time to honor Hollywood's Golden Age will not get them the TikTok crowd.

      @@christophermarzian6608 You're confused. Teresa Wright wasn't in "Damn Yankees". It was "Pride of the Yankees" which she was nominated for but she won for "Mrs. Miniver"

      @@riolureviews5204 I like a few of them very much, particularly Sam & Brendan. My favorite living actress is an Oscar winner. But a movie star does not necessarily an Oscar make. They can be "A-list" and not a movie star the caliber of Clark Gable, John Wayne, Shirley Temple etc. On this stage, for example, true movie giants are limited to Temple & Connery...to a lesser degree Peck and Heston.....Claire Trevor, Theresa Wright, Louise Renier. Leo comes off as the biggest on that list, but not the caliber of yesteryear, he's not a likable or relatable person.

    I remembered this segment from that particular Oscar ceremony. They should repeat this at a future ceremony. So many great and talented people together.

      They did, in 2003, when the Oscars celebrated its 75th anniversary. That year, you had Olivia De Havilland introduce the segment.

    I prefer the old stars of the golden age of cinema that was class,heroism and decency not today's commercial and pretentious actors.most legendary artistes are gone now here like heston,peck,borgnine,poitier,malden,kennedy,steiger,temple,trevor etc.....they gave us joy and inspiration.respect.

      Good job. I think many will be remembered, vaguely, but probably not most. ask someone under 25 or even 30 or 40 more about bacall or bogart or even lucille ball and you'll get a Who? Selling old movie mags at a flea market the other day: Rita Hayworth? Lamour? Crosby? Hope? Forget about Geraldine Page or Doris Day or Tony Curtis or Alfred Hitchcock orRock Hudson or petty soon Marilyn Monroe. Weird, to say the least.

    I wonder how much of Shirley Temple's ovation was because the announcer said "Shirley Temple, Stand Up and Cheer!"

      None, because by the time they said her movie (she didn't even receive it for that film alone) the cheering was too loud for the audience in attendance to hear. That's what biggest, most well known, beloved star among a stage full of stars naturally garners

    With Olivia de Havilland gone I think the oldest surviving Oscar winner in acting is Eva Marie Saint. The eldest male is Sydney Potier. It would be nice to do this again but the Oscars are all about rushing through the awards now.

    Luise Rainer died in 2014, 10 days before her 105th birthday. She is till date, the oldest oscar recipient to have ever lived and also the first to have won it back to back (1936 & 1937)

    This has to be the greatest collection of screen legends ive ever seen gathered together. Without looking again to avoid forgetting, just a few, Poitier, Peck, Malden, Borgnine, Heston, Leachman, Burstyn, Steiger, Kennedy, Voight, Hoffman, Nicholson, Caine, Duval, De Niro, Dunaway, Sarandon, Temple, Bridges, Douglas, Bancroft, Bates, Joel. Connery, Dreyfuss.

    Next year will be the 95th anniversary of the academy awards...l hope that they do another oscar album..it's been 20 years since....Some oscars winners present this night are sadly no longer with us...but of cource new academy award winners have been born....lf not next year...Then they will defo have an another oscar album in 2028 on the 100th anniversary

    A canvas full of masterpieces! Even though a majority of these men and women in this gallery came from Hollywood's Golden Age of movies (and even before and after their work on television), they surely don't make actors like them anymore.

    I remembered this. I thought it was soo cool to see all the Best Actors and Actresses and also the Best Supporting Actors and Actresses on one stage.
    A lot of them are now gone.

      She should have been included. Where was Sophia Loren? She won an Oscar for Best actress in 1961 for the movie, two women. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
